DU weather check in:

Keeping warm? What's the temp? Prepared with food and warmth? Check in here!

I hope it passes quickly! Thinking of you all!

It's a long thread, so only the PoP, the primitives of prominence, the PwC, the primitives who count, are quoted here.

13. 32F here. A little ice and snow still on the ground from Monday with

freezing rain and drizzle in the forecast. I'm stocked up on the big three (coffee, cat food and toilet paper) so I'm in good shape.

Everyone stay warm and safe.

48. Warm enough now but it was very cold this morning! -8 at 8 a.m.

The sun was out and that helped with the warmth.

15. yesterday was -9

The wind chill made if feel much colder. Today we're up to 2 degrees. The forecast says in the 20s tomorrow, and then back to -8 on Monday.

17. 13 outside of Boston, on the way down to -2

But I just ate the most unbelievably awesome sous vide chuck roast with sambal matah. And we can see most of the blacktop on our driveway. So it could be worse.

^^^my good pal Manny's becoming pretentious.

"sous vide"

"sambal matah"

Snicker, snicker.

32. It was in the 20's today, so I went to the beach...

but it's dropping down to single digits again tonight. And then the wind won't help things.

Record number of water main breaks for the county this year-- over 200 so far.

35. Been hovering a few degrees below 0ºF all day. Real cold is coming,

supposedly Sunday night. The prediction is for -25ºF that night.

I have my books, a well-charged Kindle, & a store of essentials, with no desperate need to go out into it anytime soon.

47. It's a balmy

36 F here, compared to what some are suffering, though I'm sure the temps are going to plummet over night to maybe the high twenties.

78. A little overcast and 60 degrees just down the hill from Yosemite

It's been a good day to split and stack firewood. I probably should have done that instead of sitting on my ass catching up on Better Call Saul most of the afternoon.

101. Low 70s today in NM.

We'll turn colder by Saturday, getting a glancing blow from the midwest cold as the high pressure area forces some of it through the high passes.

The trees are in bud and I could swear I saw a few mouse ear leaves on the neighbor's aspens.

102. At 7:00 p.m. in Anchorage, Alaska, it is 29 degrees and clear

Two days ago it was 45 here, a new record for the date. We're expecting rain over the weekend, and daytime highs in the upper 30s, low 40s, for the next week. We've had less than 20 inches of snow this winter. Average snowfall for a winter here is 70.6 inches, so we are way under.

111. You are way warmer that we are in upstate NY. Right now the wind chill has to be around -12. There

is at least a foot of snow still on the ground which is blowing around making it appear that we are in the middle of a blizzard.

The dog is the main problem, her feet get so cold she holds them up off the ground. We're looking for sled doggie boots for her. The cats won't even go out, except for the 'snow panther'. He's big and acts more like a dog than a cat, he has a thick, long haired shiny black coat. We think he's part Maine Coon. But even he won't stay out this year for more than a few minutes.

120. 67 today in northern colorado, winter storm watch tomorrow night through sunday night

lower 50s tomorrow with rain turning to snow and anywhere from 7 to 12 inches of snow and they're calling for bullshit cold on sunday, but who the hell knows. we were supposed to get six inches of snow last weekend and all we got was a dusting, but thank gods tomorrow is payday so i can stock up on food (and beer) just in case.

127. Near zero here

Wind chills making it worse. This cheap apartment I live in,is drafty as crap,if you drop your feet near the floor you can feel a bit of cold wind, also the mini blinds do nothing to keep a steady cool breeze off of you so I sit here wrapped in blankets and still feel the chill. This place. Has no insulation. Shit they didn't even bother to paint the cheap cardboard covered drywall plaster with any paint.

This place was financed as low income housing by a ****ing bank, never expect a rich corporate pig organization to give a quality home to those they'd rather see dead.$600 a month for this in 3years this place will be falling apart.

Already we've had a shooting next door, drug raids, criminals pretending to be maintenance banging on doors...this place isn't safe it's hell.

I so miss my house, it was safe, I had painted the walls beautiful, cold nights like this were nothing if you had heat, the insulation killed all the drafts. I'd have my heat set at 69 and it was warm there. In this stupid apartment 70 degrees feels like 60.

I don't think I will ever recover from losing my old home,I miss it still. Living in an unfamiliar hostile(they harass anyone different this place is full of bigots racists assholes) place with no way to get around,no way to see freinds ect.sucks, but it's horrible to me because I live 99% of the time alone here.

Life just sucks, since my sisters stole the house and sold it leaving me with nothing nowhere to go. I had to go here. I am starting to just vacillate from hate to despair.

Tonight is the perfect sort of bitter cold I would walk outside find a nice spot lay down and freeze if I didn't have mom and my cats. if I didn't have them I'd be out there looking at the moon until it all went away.

^^^oh my.

Okay, there's more, but no need to bother clicking on the link above, as all the rest are comments from the lumpenunterprimitiven, the PonP, the primitives of no prominence, the PwdC, the primitives who don't count.

That reminds me.

We're due for an update on the Cleveland ward heeler.

There was one the other day, but alas I didn't bother reading it, as I was looking for something else.

But apparently the corrupt old fart is still alive, but barely kicking.
