What did everyone do for Valentine's Day-Night?

I've been sick since Wednesday with a bad cold. It's why I'm way behind on email etc. One of the dogs (Sweetie) had to go to the vet unexpectedly. She is fine now.

But we made it to dinner tonight thanks to a boatload of cold meds. We were 1/2 mile away when Marta asked IF I remembered her card? Honey turn the car around.... My driving is limited these days.

We still made it with time to spare for our reservation. A traditional Omaha family owned steak house open since 1922: http://www.johnnyscafe.com/

During appetizers we exchanged those cards. Good thing we went back to get it. A small present was tucked in the card. I surprised her.

Dinner and the staff were excellent as always. The first half of our evening ended. A drive home to our 3 dogs. As always they treated us like rock stars when we walked in the door.

Many long years ago Marta and I became huge fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage version of The Phantom. Seeing the touring version when it came to Omaha was a must.

We got matching inexpensive silver phantom rings. Handmade and unlicensed.

We hated the 2004 film. The cast was good. The movie itself was a piece of crap.

Last year at an estate sale we picked up the real jewel version to watch: http://www.blu-ray.com/The-Phantom-of-the-Opera-at-the-Royal-Albert-Hall/61596/

after which a youtube

At the end we see FIVE different Phantoms together on stage:

after which more youtubes

More info on this must have video for Phantom fans: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Phantom-of-the-Opera-at-The-Royal-Albert-Hall-Blu-ray/29303/

I'm sure by now you know what we watched with our 3, 4 legged kids at our side and in our laps.

It is rated a high romance production. A beautiful evening.

So what did everybody else do?

3. Cordinated a beach clean-up, worked on a fundraising video and website, watched sun set over ocean.

Walked the dog 10,000 steps on the Fitbit.

Pretty much just another day, actually!

My SO, a DU member, joined me for a late lunch and then the sunset, and then headed back to take care of her mum!

Happy Valentines Day, OS!

I wonder if he spent as much money on dinner as he spent on DU hearts for himself? Marta is going to shit a kitten when she sees that credit card statement.

Notice, please, that Skippy doesn't mention picking up litter himself.

No, he was only "coordinating" it; bosses don't stoop to menial labor.

The Big Guy (who is dying) wants the DUmpmonkeys to think he's in rapid decline.

Is it for attention, or for sympathy?

Either way, it's pathetic.

Whoop tee Doo, Skippy the Freak, spots a couple children drop candy wrappers in the sand.
He promptly orders the children to pick them up or he'd have the government make examples of them.

After regaling the DUmpukes with other stoopid liberbull lies, he pops up with
a consesending statement worthy of the grate omni-impotent gNads.

But I'll bet poor dear Marta, as she's pretty much done throughout the 42-43 years of their marriage, picked up the check.

After they got home, the big guy laid down snoring on the couch while poor dear Marta did the laundry, vaccuumed the floors, made the beds, cleaned out the bathroom, took out the trash, and washed-and-dried the dishes left over from the day.

Well, as long as he's "up" enough to hang around with the other primitives on Skins's island, it seems to me he should be "up" enough to pick up around the house, at least tidying it up.
