FCC Discussing Control of Internet
« on: February 05, 2015, 03:41:29 PM »
REGULATIONS APPLY TO BOTH WIRED AND WIRELESS PROVIDERS

Okay, I'll readily admit that this whole “net neutrality” thing confuses me.  That a provider can't put one source over another seems fair. But, it also seems to me yet another attempt to add government controls to the internet. That bothers h**l out of me and I don't want ANYBODY messing with my internet access.

Read the story @ http://www.popsci.com/fcc-chief-proposes-stricter-net-neutrality-rules-broadband and add your two cents.

Government Takes Step to Regulate the Internet @ http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2015/February/Government-Takes-Step-to-Regulate-the-Internet/ which says they want to regulate the internet like phone service

Any time the current administrations wants to regulate anything, for any reason, you can be sure the stated reasons are lies.

The entire administration is based on lies, obfuscation, and deception.

The FCC is looking to CONTROL the internet. No other reason for this.

They just want to control your source of information. They don't want you to know to much....it's not good for you them.

Internet groups in tricky position over US net neutrality

Be careful what you wish for. That is the message for companies such as Google and Facebook as US regulators move ahead with a plan to enshrine the idea of an open internet in regulation.

On the face of it, the big internet companies will have scored a significant victory if the Federal Communication Commission votes, as expected, for its new “net neutrality” rules this month. The regime is intended to make sure broadband and other network providers cannot block or otherwise hold internet services to ransom.

Socialists simply HATE free speech and opposition speech.
But they love making up soothing names for the strategies for imposing restrictions on them.

There's lots of brilliant minds out there and I don't think any government will effectively squash an open exchange of information.

We may not see anything like what we're currently familiar with. But I'm certain something will take place of the internet.

Heck. It might already be out there.

Eleventh-hour drama for net neutrality rules
http://thehill.com/business-a-lobbying/233626-fcc-dem-wants-last-minute-changes-to-net-neutrality-rules

Quote
A Democrat on the Federal Communications Commission wants to see changes that could narrow the scope of new net neutrality rules set for a vote on Thursday.

Mignon Clyburn, one of three Democrats on the FCC, has asked Chairman Tom Wheeler to roll back some of his provisions before the full commission votes on them, FCC officials said.

The request — which Wheeler has yet to respond to — puts the chairman in the awkward position of having to either roll back his proposals, or defend the tough rules and convince Clyburn to back down.

Don't like the new net neutrality rule one bit.

Dear FCC: Rethink The Vague "General Conduct" Rule
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2015/02/dear-fcc-rethink-those-vague-general-conduct-rules

Quote
Federal Communications Commission to adopt new Open Internet rules that would survive legal scrutiny and actually help protect the Open Internet. Our message has been clear from the beginning: the FCC has a role to play, but its role must be firmly bounded.

Two weeks ago, we learned that we had likely managed the first goal—the FCC is going to do the right thing and reclassify broadband as a telecommunications service, giving it the ability to make new, meaningful Open Internet rules.  But we are deeply concerned that the FCC’s new rules will include a provision that sounds like a recipe for overreach and confusion: the so-called “general conduct rule.”

Leftist EFF is against the FCC "net neutrality.

It's supposed to.  This is just obamacare 2.0 for the interwebz.  They introduce a bill a few hundred pages in length, nobody reads it, the fcc commissioner refuses to meet in front of Congress to discuss it an they they pass it so they can find out what is in it, and we all suffer because of it.

Total lack of transparency in this administration.

Big money from left wing groups support government regulation of the internet.

Soros etal.,

Quote
American Commitment President Phil Kerpen told MRC Business, “The biggest money in this debate is from the liberal foundations that lavish millions on self-styled grassroots groups pushing for more and more regulation and federal control.”

Among best known pro-net neutrality groups that received grants from these foundations were the Center for American Progress (CAP), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and Media Matters for America. These groups received a total of $54,226,097 from the Ford and Open Society Foundations.

“Net Neutrality” is Anything But

I know I'm writing against the spammers bent on supporting this attack on more of our freedoms, but someone has to. Any surprises that this claims that Soros is behind it? Not me.

Some good news for right now.

"The Federal Election Commission, facing punishing criticism for suggesting that political activity on the Internet should be regulated, rejected talk of new rules Thursday, a victory for GOP commissioners who feared Democrats were targeting conservative sites, even the Drudge Report."

"During a public meeting, Democrats on the FEC said they were responding to the public outcry in saying that no new rules are required."

"Democratic Commissioner Ellen Weintraub said the FEC received 5,000 comments demanding the agency keep their hands off the Internet. In response, she proposed a resolution that directly barred Internet regulation."  She starts off her statement emulating the chosen one:  "I wanted to make clear...."  Ya'll can read her fake empathy if you like.

My opinion?  Progressives never back down & never give up.  The thought of liberals controlling conservative sites is the same as putting a steak in front of a canine.  Reminds me of Hillary's attempt at government controlled health care.  It didn't happen then, but the rest is history.   Another example was the Fairness Doctrine that would have controlled conservative talk radio.  Republicans joined the rest of the liberals in supporting this.  Thanks to Reagan when he got out his veto pen.

So they're backing off for now, & contenting their control freak hearts with the regulations that will come from net neutrality, the taxes that will come from classifying the internet as a public utility, & a smile on their faces for squeezing the middle classes yet again.

If libs try big steps and misstep, they are content to settle for baby steps in advancing their agenda.
