Kentucky teens on alleged crime spree captured in Florida

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Two teenage sweethearts suspected in a crime spree of stolen vehicles and pilfered checks across the South have been taken into custody in Florida, Kentucky authorities said Sunday.

Grayson County Sheriff officials say in a statement that 18-year-old Dalton Hayes and his 13-year-old girlfriend, Cheyenne Phillips, were arrested without incident about 12:10 a.m. Sunday in Panama City Beach. The two had eluded police in multiple states while raising concern about their increasingly bold behavior.

2. Two points

1) The fact that this was a national news story is absolutely ridiculous.
2) Black Twitter has been hilarious on this, and it continues here: they're "sweethearts" who "pilfered" stuff. I've see numerous comparisons with pairs of African Americans who are described in far harsher terms than these two "sweethearts" (who have stolen multiple cars and even guns...I mean, she's a minor so her transportation over state lines makes it federal).

Hell, on Chicago news last night (again, Chicago's NBC affiliate has 22 minutes to give you the news...why is this nothing story on Chicago LOCAL news?!?), they had a story about their "Mom's" wanted them to "come home."

Ridiculous. This is criming while white to the nth degree. It's almost like the media is now just taunting black folks with these bullshit stories.
