French journalist on CNN is claiming that it is offensive to the French people


that President Obama was not at the rally. Really? With the kind of security issues he would face in a crowd of about a million people is scary. She felt that there was not enough representation from America. Always the President's fault. That man cannot win for losing.

No way a big shot VIP like Barry could go to that puny rally.  Mfcorey1 has a point, it does seem like it's always the president's fault.  Don't worry DUmmies, all I've ever heard is that the europeans all love Barry...or they used to, anyway.  He can just give the people of France free community college and this will all blow over like it never happened.

But I do think that our representation was a little thin.

Kerry is in India. I wonder where Biden is.

No way a man of Barry's stature could have gone.  It would have been all about him.  He would have made it all about him, that is.  If he would have gone, that is.

Too much of the focus would be on him and not on the French people and their tragedy.

On the other hand, I do wish he had sent someone, but I'm sure the our ambassador to France has done...whatever ambassadors do at this time.

He came to France and gave a speech on the tragedy but did not attend the rally.

Holder was in town but they are saying that he didn't go to the rally because he was attending some important meeting, but nobody can figure out who he was meeting with since everybody who is anybody was at the rally.

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a rare public admission of error, the White House said Monday the U.S. should have sent a high-level official to an anti-terror march in Paris that was attended by more than 40 world leaders.

The Obama administration was represented Sunday by the U.S. ambassador to France, though Attorney General Eric Holder was in Paris for security meetings.

"It's fair to say we should have sent someone with a higher profile," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said. Secretary of State John Kerry was on a long-planned trip to India on Sunday but now will visit France later this week.

The White House appeared to have been caught off guard by both the display of international unity at the Paris march and the criticism of its decision to be represented only by Ambassador Jane Huntley. Monday's admission of error seemed aimed at blunting criticism that the decision was tone deaf or disrespectful of the long U.S. alliance with France, a country set on edge by three days of terror that resulted in 17 deaths.

My first post in this thread was a bit off the cuff not totally understanding what this rally actually was.
After learning more about it I think my gut reaction was very much accurate,in the world of diplomacy and sending signals I am convinced he wanted to give a message to islamists that he was looking away.
