They've ruined the job market, can't work to make money, can hardly work to keep food on the table. Military families qualify for food stamps, but the food stamp program is gutted. They limited unemployment. Going after SS and SSDI. The repugs want their rich supporters to be the only people getting money. They think that churches and charities will take care of all the people who can no longer take care of themselves. What's going to happen when the churches and charities realize that taking care of the millions of poor is draining all of their resources?

After this latest plot to destroy SS, SSDI, I just don't think the right wants anyone to have anything, even the basics to stay alive. They are like the alien in Independence Day, just want us to die...

So the plan--which Republicans want to stop--is to transfer funds from Social Security Retirement, into which people have paid, giving the money to SSDI, in which recipients hadn't ever contributed a damned dime.  The goal being to keep SSDI afloat.

In other words, rob the old, give to the lazy.

I always wondered why the "Disability Insurance Trust Fund " wasn't a completely separate program and funded separately. The word "insurance" of course is a bastardization in this context.

I have seen several explanations of why the government wanted to do direct deposit but the biggest one was probably so healthy DUmmies wouldn't be embarrassed cashing/depositing their government freebie checks. I expect the government to soon drop the EBT cards and just pass out your standard credit cards or bank draft cards.

I do occasionally worry about SS, but basically just figure there will be nothing there by the time I could collect (and really regret the way my kids will be ripped off if there is...)

I manage to "get things done" by working all day, then working all evening.  LOL  It doesn't require any money from SS, SSDI, or any other government agency, but it really hurts when I look at how much goes to those agencies.  In fact, we pay something like 3 times our house payment in payroll taxes every month.
