I have to take that all back, about Skippy; my apologies for jumping the gun.

Skippy's actually launched a pretty good spirited all-out attack on the Big Mo haters.

The thread's grown enormously, but I suggest if one has the time, one go to it; it's a great thread.

You know what drives me nuts about Skippy.

He's so ****ing paranoid.

Being a primitive, he thinks we're just like them--that we'll play dirty if it gains us something, in this case with a primitive's personal information.

Skippy needs to understand that not all people are alike; that there are people more noble, more principled, with more integrity, than the primitives; people who carefully observe boundaries.

This might sound preposterous to a primitive, but there are decent and civilized people for whom, if one can "win" only by playing dirty, the "win"'s not worth it.

But you're in a city and on a small lot. You need to make an effort to be a good neighbor. If your neighbors wanted to deal with rats and shit smells and junker cars they could go live in the country and save themselves a small fortune. You can redefine 50 flies into not a swarm, messy piles of brush and detritus into hugelkultur and a chicken killing deathtrap junk car into a coop, but you can't define what you're doing as being a considerate neighbor. You're making stinks and attracting vermin. That's not even close to okay, and it shouldn't even take the city getting involved to make you clean up, because decency and common sense should have kicked in about 48 flies and any rats at all ago.

Never thought I'd agree with a lunatic who calls herself "lefty-something".

I guess even a lunatic can recognize the Neighbor From Hell.
