Actually, Zimmerman is going to get hammered.
Shutterstock images, if purchased, can be used for any commercial application that does not involve resale of the image, and specifically prohibits creating a derivative in the form of a painting that Zimmerman did.
I have tracked down the real artist, and have sent him an email. While I sympathize with Zimmerman to a point, I don't condone theft. By the way, when I purchase and use stock photos in my own derivatives, it is covered under "fair use" since I'm not profiting directly, nor are the websites profiting, and Shutterstock specifically allows it.
The artist comes from Awen Art Studio, located in Europe.
Incidentally, Zimmerman can NOT go after SKP_NYC, but Awen can if they want, though I doubt that the amount of money would be worth it.
