New pope. Cardinal Bergoglio from Argentina, renamed Pope Francis.Coincidence, that Hugo Chavez the former dictator just passed...
Pope Francis beat out a much younger man, Itally's Cardinal Sicola. Sicola was a cool guy, he got along well with the yutes. He was described as a breath of fresh air. and a good speaker. So we almost had a cool, refreshing Pope Sicola.
No he's still pro life and against gay marriage and adopting Children to gays. That's too many liberal sacraments je opposes for them to convert.
He stated that the legalisation of gay-marriage in Argentina was the work of the 'Father of lies' - I think that the liberals are going to hate the new Holy Father.
Call me slow but I don't understand the point of your post.Pope Francis is from Argentina, Chavez on the other hand, is from Venezuela.
Did Venezuela's Chavez nudge Christ to pick South American pope?CARACAS (Reuters) - Late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez's influence may have stretched into the afterlife and had a hand in Christ's decision to opt for a Latin American Pope, acting President Nicolas Maduro said on Wednesday."We know that our commander ascended to the heights and is face-to-face with Christ," Maduro said at a Caracas book fair. "Something influenced the choice of a South American pope, someone new arrived at Christ's side and said to him: 'Well, it seems to us South America's time has come.'"Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina was elected in a surprise choice to be the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, the first non-European pope in nearly 1,300 years.
Well of course. That was my point:) the economic position will never overshadow his conservative views on those other issues for them. That's not a bad thing in my eyes.
Being baptist we don't get all this fun.
He chose to live an austere life. He wouldn't live in the mansion or use the car provided for their Cardinal. He lived in a small apartment, used the bus, and he cooked his own meals, according to news reports.
Yes I'm aware. He's also on record saying that capitalism caused the woes of the people in Argentina.
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Wednesday:"On behalf of the leadership and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we extend our warmest wishes to His Holiness Pope Francis I and pray he will feel the peace of the Lord as he serves as pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church."We have been honored and pleased as our two faiths have worked together on issues of faith, morality and service to the poor and needy. We value the relationships that have been formed in these joint efforts and are grateful for the good that has been accomplished."We look forward to pursuing together, as the Apostle Paul wrote, all things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report (see Philippians 4:8)." And how long ago was that, again? It would seem to me that, from this article below, that he's not entirely thrilled with the current socialist government in Argentina.http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/mar/13/pope-francis-i-first-catholic-pontiff-americas/According to the article above, on the third page, he blamed unrestrained capitalism for Argentina's woes--not the entirety of capitalism. Not quite the same thing.
As the U.S. gears up for an important presidential election, Argentina is a sad reminder of how government takeovers and crony capitalism are the enemy of genuine development. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443404004577577013392087338.html
This article gives a look at Argentina's "crony capitalism"; Sounds a lot like where America is heading. .
