true. but the first contact with Europeans happened in the central americas. Not that the Norse had not made contact- just that they didn't stick around very long.

92. That's the whole point,
You're ignoring a large part of population of that time. To say that the majority of the population was in favor of slavery is wrong, because the majority, including the slaves themselves, along with freedmen, Native Americans, etc., were distinctly against slavery. Way to dismiss a large part of the population.

Next up, number thirty nine, what's wrong with that picture?

And you're ignoring that 100% of fetus's in America are against abortion.

DUmmies and Gun Control. If they ever had to suffer in countries that had it they would know the real reason they should be against it.

I see you just completely invalidate the small but real percentage of "Emo" fetus's who just want an end to the Ennui.

Ancient thread, found while looking for primitive pictures, but thought it well worth resurrecting.

I should know by now that you do this, but every time you do I fall for it and think that posters who haven't posted here for a long time came back.  :-)

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

I know, and it's kind of a problem, as Tanker once pointed out.

The deal is, sometimes I don't want to blemish an original thread by "modifying" it so that people are aware from the start it's an ancient one; this was one of those cases.

When asked to provide proof of something why is it that silence and "do your own research" seem to be the top two answers from a lunatic?

Why don't they just hand it off to Nadin Bryzyzyzyzynski, intrepid girl reporter, checker of facts, and permanent DOTY recipient?

13. This isn't any funnier the second time around, nor any more true
The first time I got this was from my wingnut father in law.

Oh, and do you even bother verifying the truth of some of this bullshit? Apparently not, like my RWer FIL, you just pass it on, lies and all. Let me give you a place to start with: Item number 18 is simply wrong. I suggest you read up on such people as Charles Whitman, or better yet, Monroe Phillips.

Please, we come here to escape this sort of email chain bullshit. Rather than posting crap that is poorly thought out, and even more poorly researched, just dump it in the trash.

It was pointed out at the time that Phillips was killed by a gun owner, but this part was missed...

Quote
While all the mayhem was unfolding, Butts and a young man named Ralph Joseph Minehan ran to the United Supply Company and purchased a shot gun and a 32-caliber pistol with ammunition.  Together they slipped in the back door of the drug store, and while Phillips was shooting at Deaver, they took aim, Minehan firing off about five shots and Butts firing the shot gun, hitting Phillips in the kidneys, Monroe died within minutes.  The massacre was over; it had lasted only ten minutes.

It would seem that history proves that delays in selling guns can cost lives...

Free blacks also owned slaves prior to the Civil War.

Edit. Caught in the old thread trap. :lmao:
