2. I have been struggling ever since my first lay off in 1980
Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure, sure, grouchy old Don's been "suffering" since 1980.
Like Hell he has.
Grouchy old Don started off on the assembly line of a place that manufactures automobiles right out of high school, in 1971. He was a proud member of the UAW, and a thug for the Democrat party machine in Chicago.
The 1970s were a lousy decade, especially the last half of it. Grouchy old Don, then being a green young man with hardly any seniority in his union, got temporarily laid off various times, but stuck with it until he had crept up the ladder of seniority a bit, say circa 1981.
After which all was strawberries-and-cream for grouchy old Don.
After getting thirty years on the assembly line under his belt, grouchy old Don retired with a full union pension.
This was probably about 2003, 2004, subtracting those brief lay-offs during the Carter Administration from that 30-years'-service requirement.
Grouchy old Don is now 59 years old.
His pension is pretty flat, but local and Cook County property taxes are skyrocketing under the machine, and inflation is skyrocketing under the Magic One.
Grouchy old Don's now concerned about how he's going to make it on his pension now.
I suppose that's a reasonable concern, but this is grouchy old Don here, who since 1971 has voted to support corrupt machine politics, figuring if he took care of the machine, the machine'd take care of him.
So while one's heart goes out to those oppressed by corruption and high taxes in Chicago, in Cook County, in Illinois, franksolich has only a raspberry for grouchy old Don. Tough shit; you voted for it, Don.
Suffer.
