Clinton praises Bush's new memoir
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:58:49 AM »
The Clenis is just thankful that GWB didn't spend two full years blaming him for 9/11, unlike  . . . well, you get the idea.  watching all of the interviews that Bush has granted lately to discuss his book have served to remind me of all the things I liked about the man, and they are legion.

I am going to kindle Decision Points tonight, and read it over the weekend.

Clinton praises Bush's new memoir

Former president Bill Clinton praised George W. Bush's new memoir, calling it "well-written and interesting" in a statement released today, the Associated Press reports.

Clinton said Decision Points, which came out Tuesday, was a book that would help other Democrats understand why he liked Bush. The memoir sold 220,000 copies in its first day on sale.

Almost two years after leaving office, Bush listed mistakes during his presidency in the new book, including not acting fast enough after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and drawing down troops quickly in Iraq. He also has mentioned his desire to stay under the radar once the promotional tour is over.

"I have peace in my heart, I truly do, and I have zero desire to try to battle for reputation," Bush told USA TODAY.

As far as America's perception of Bush, it hasn't changed dramatically. A recent USA TODAY/Gallup Poll found that 44% view him favorably and 53% have unfavorable opinions. Before Bush left office, 40% had a favorable view; 59% viewed him unfavorably.

W's book is on my book list as well, specifically because of the interviews he has conducted lately.  And, as far as Clinton goes....he may have his own agenda as it relates to Bush, but it's nice to see a former president acting like one.
