If these twit want to dengrate someone for being a poor pilot then they should take a look at this guy. Sen. Tom Harkin-D from Iowa started his political career buy telling amyone that he could get to listen that he flew combat air patrols and Photo Recon missions over North Vietnam while in the Navy. He says he flew F-8s and F-4 fighters while doing so and it sounds good up front but just like Tit over at Du the true story isn't excatly what was put out to the public.

Sen. Tom Harkin-D Iowa was a pilot but the closest he ever got to Vietnam was shuttling planes to and from Japan and the P.I. for maintanace. If the pnnicle of your flying careeer is doing nothing but that and getting one ribbion from the Navy during a time of war then you have just made John McCain look like Tom Cruise in "Top Gun".

http://www.iowapresidentialwatch.com/HarkinMustGo/HarkinMustGo.htm

"He graduated from there in 1962 and served in the United States Navy from 1962–1967. Harkin was stationed at Naval Air Facility Atsugi in Japan, where he ferried damaged aircraft to and from the airbase. He was also stationed for a time at Guantanamo Bay, where he flew missions in support of U-2 planes reconnoitering Cuba."

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Harkin

He couldn't even get the Photo Recon part of his story right .

"This was another Harkin lie. Harkin actually served as a ferry pilot who flew aircraft in need of repair between the Philippines and his base in Atsugi, Japan. Harkin at last acknowledged that he never flew air patrols in Vietnam. He began describing himself in speeches as “a Vietnam era veteran.”

If there is anyone in the Senate that needs to be watched it's not John McCain for running for President its people like Tom Harkin, John Kerry,Fat Teddy Kennedy and all of the rest of their kind.

They appear to be Republicans

I don't give a damn who they are..................he is being blamed for losing aircraft number 4 for a zunni rocket that fired from another plane into his on the flight deck of the USS Forrestal.

Being republican, independent or demonrat.................I don't understand what that has to do with this. Actually I will say that being a group that brings up bullshit like this puts them in the sam category as the Westboro Babtist church as evangelicals

A friend told me that the Republicans would do this to McCain over the investigation about missing POW's in Vietnam.  I didn't believe him and said that Republicans, no matter how much they may not like McCain's political policies would not attempt to denigrate his service.  I am saddened to see that I may be wrong in this.  It shocked me to see that they appear to be Republicans.  I doubt this will get any more play other than in DU...but if it did, and if it came from any respectable portion of the Republican Party I would leave the party in a heartbeat over it.

Philly, I would not rush to judgment on whether they are Republicans, it's more likely they are 'Life-long Republicans,' or in other words, basically just provocateurs with no actual connection to the GOP at all.

Won't that make the liberals seem hypocritical, insincere, and shallow?

That's the advantage of being hypocritical, insincere, and shallow.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I am going to try to dig a bit.  It bothers me.  Of course, I apparently "defend" them.  ::)

But I've always cut stupidity a break.

I respect your judgment and analysis, anyway.  I'll probably still respect them in the morning.

It is pretty cool actually, but I'm with you, I wouldn't want to live there.  Gotta hit the rack (PT Test at 0600 Monday), it's been a fun volley, thanks for stopping by and giving me a grin!

If she tips...it's something she can bill you for.

I'd suggest buying the lunch too.
