Pretty much what I expected happened overnight--all the rain and warm temperatures created a lot of standing water, but with all the snow still on the ground, prevented a lot of drainage. Then, when the temps dropped back into the mid-20's last night, viola!--instant ice roads! At least the town and state folks did a decent job salting everything down and keeping it from getting too bad.
HOWEVER...
Mid-30's today with snow rolling in this afternoon/evening, so here we go with the nice coating of ice again, and temps are not forecast to rise above freezing for the next two weeks, and it's going to get back down to 0 degrees tomorrow night, with windchills of -20!!! Hooray!!!
Thank goodness this is only a four-day workweek...SO FAR.
