Every parent views his/her child as special. I can completely understand this; however, I've noticed that the child of every single DUmmie is not just "special". Every single DUmmie claims their child has genius-level (or near genius-level) intelligence. For instance, the greenidiot says in her post: "She is gifted, is in the top 1/4 of her class".

I have finally deduced how this is possible. The DUmmies are comparing the child's intelligence level to their own.

If I were greenbriar's child, I'd want to get away as soon as possible.  :-)

I thought the ASVAB was just a test, like the SAT and the redneck SAT (the ACT).  There are no commitments attached to it, other than if you intend to enlist.  My brother took it in high school with no intention of joining the military... it was just another test.  He did very well on the mathematics part.

When they gave me the ASVAB I rolled it up into a tight 'wand' and made a spear ..... they made me a Paratrooper!  HOOAH!   :-)

Even 25 plus years ago this was the case,just another set of competancy tests.

I think you hit on it with your first statement though and think it is revealing that she has been in consultation with her father already.

She has seen what a poor excuse for a human her mom is and wants to make her life better.

Greenbriar if you ever do visit this place hear this...your contempt for your husband by posting you are leaving him for a cruise ship singer along with your repeated attempts to paint him as a drunk (one who can afford huge rings and cruises :whatever:) has probably pushed your daughter to realize that your crazy life isn`t for her.

If you were in some National Guard units it would not be all that far fetched to be an e-4 for 8 years if you didn't want to leave the unit for another one located as much as 100+ miles from your current unit just to get promoted. There are also who knows how many E-6's and E-7s staying in untill they get their 30 - 40 years in and that is also jamming up the slots for the E-4's and E-5's for years.

Also it's not unusual for kids as young as 16 to take the ASVAB. They do it every year here in the local schools and its all voluntary. The kid probably did it to get out of class as much as anything and could just as easy change her mind on her own. However consisdering who her nutjob mom is, I'd do a 20 year hitch just to stay away from her.

Back in the day promotions were based on a 1000 point system and of course your MOS. Promotion to E5/Sgt in my MOS When I was in the Army was 998 pts for about four and a half yrs..

The AF and Army don't do promotions to non-comm in the same fashion.

Hubby's brother joined the army last year and is getting ready to deploy to Iraq and spent the last month here reqruiting and I guess she has this glorified idea of what it is like

She is gifted, is in the top 1/4 of her class. She sings like a dream...She will get Scholarships and does NOT need this to pay for college.

She is graduating HS one year early

she was supposed to go to college

I will NOT let her join the army



and she knows how we feel about this ****ing war

Maybe she's actually interested in serving her country?  *shrug*  Maybe she knew it would piss her moonbatty BDS suffering mother crazy?

Greenbriar, you should realize that this is not your decision to make, and your daughter will decide what's right for her and it maybe the military.  Your best bet is to suck it up and support your daughter with whatever she chooses to do, if you don't you run the risk alienating your daughter away from you.

Can't help but wonder who the plagiarizing primitive lifted this tale from.  :whatever:

Ah ok. A friend of mine is in the AF Reserve and you're right, promotions are done differently.   
Besides, no matter what branch she joins, it'll be the best decision she'll ever make.

I took that test way back when.  :-) The Navy recruiter liked my scores in reading three dimensional objects.
