My club has a 600 yard range. I use a 308 for that distance.
They have a 1,000 yard range over at Oak Ridge, in Knoxville. I want to get a 300 mag for that distance. It's pretty exciting to hit a target from 1,000 yards. It's no easy task.
One of the local clubs here has a 1000yard range. They only shoot that distance a couple of times a year, so it turns into quite a social event with people from all the surrounding clubs showing up to have a go.
I was up there the last time they shot it, using a 308, and did acceptably well with a 50.2 and 50.0 (each out of a possible 60.10). Someone with a straight 284 got a possible and nearly a possible.
