Oh, I get it! If they don't know anyone who something happened to then it simply never happened...unless they need the statistics to justify one government program or another.
Robbery at gun point? Doesn't happen. Except when the government wants more restrictive gun laws.
Rape? Doesn't happen. Except when the government wants yet another reason to tell women they're victims and need a great big ole government daddy to protect and take care of them.
Drive by shootings? Nope. Haven't heard of those either. Well, only if we don't think it'd be just super cool to have another "gun free" zone and we want more law abiding citizens who find themselves living in a shooting gallery playing the role of sitting ducks. That would definitely mean we'd need even more restrictive gun laws (don't worry...we're working hard trying to figure out how we can double down on the whole "gun free" thing...we're thinking maybe slingshots or Ginsu knives).
Home invasion? Yep. Those are a myth too. Well, except when the government is trying to convince the (stupid) people if gun laws were more restrictive bad guys would no longer be able to invade one's home. Oh, and you shouldn't shoot someone anyway even if they are trying to harm you or your family. Better to just hand them your flat screen TV and 16 year old daughter.
Mass shootings? Well, those, of course those happen.
Because we're mean.
Because kids are bullied.
Because there aren't adequate mental health services.
Because once kids turn 18 they can't be on their parents insurance so they don't get the help they need (damn, can't use that one anymore...30 year old's anyone?)
Because kids have no self esteem.
Because some kid didn't get a sticker for "having a nice smile" on reward day (because there aren't enough teachers & no extra money in the budget for stickers).
Because parents have guns.
Because people like to kill poor helpless animals. (Note: this is acceptable if you're a democrat running for president & trying to appeal to a stereotype that you're too arrogant and out of touch to know doesn't exist.)
Because a bunch of racist, misogynistic, rich, privileged, slave owning white guys wrote it into the Bill of Rights so that over 200 years later a bunch of racist misogynistic, rich privileged, wanna be slave owners can't or won't realize the Bill of Rights is way outdated (except the abortion, free speech for leftists, I have the right to never see another religious Christian symbol again and due process for Mumia rights).
Because those same racist white guys won't turn their guns over to the boy king and make him dictator for life.
