Frank, you'll see 10 other Big-We Can't Count teams pulling for the newcomer, Nebraska, in that game. That's the difference between the SEC and all other conferences. OSU has dominated the Big-## for a while now and there is no cohesion among the fans. It's totally different in the SEC.
Oh, I dunno, Rebel. All of the rest of them are effete elitist easterners in blue states, and we're the puny little cowboy from one of the reddest states in the union. If I were one of them, from Michigan or Illinois or Minnesota or whatever, it seems to me I'd stick with one of my own, which would be.....Ohio State.
I can't see where anybody in the Big 10's going to cheer for Nebraska, except Nebraskans.
You're aware of the media bias against the Southeastern Conference (of course), and against the spinal column of America, the former Big 8 Conference. The powers that be never cared for you, or me.
I'm not sure what their bitch was, and is, against teams from the South, but I do know the source of their bitch against Nebraska. Nebraska's a tiny little state; it was the smallest state in the Big 8, and then the Big 12, and it's most definitely the smallest state in the Big 10.
Until Idaho (Boise State) joined the big boys a few years ago, Nebraska was the smallest state in the union with a major college football program. Forty-one of the fifty states have more people than Nebraska.
We're pretty small.....but yet we whipped the big states left and right, here and there, all over the place.
To the media, favoring eastern states and the west coast, it always seemed against the natural order of things, that such a little guy was always trouncing all the big guys. It bred resentment and hostility among the media elites, and among the easterners and west coasters.
I fully expect fans of the other ten teams in the Big 10 to be supportive of one of their own, Ohio State, which is several orders of magnitude more populous than Nebraska. We're all by ourselves, like Finland against the Soviet Union.
