DUmmy stevenumbers Ponders Default
« on: July 30, 2011, 12:36:41 AM »
This is just another boring, pointless post from our old friend, the DUmp's master of seduction, stevenumbers. It's a DUmb post,
with no good replies, but I think any time a man goes to the trouble of typing out a post with one hand, he deserves some recognition:

Would President Obama ever allow a default to occur ?
I've already read that, via the White House spokesman Jay Carney, the 14th Amendment will not be used by President Obama.

If nothing gets through Congress for the President to sign (which I fervently hope does not occur), would he allow a default ? Sorry to be a worrywart, but ruling out the 14th Amendment in advance bothered me a tad. Thanks for your time.

We can only hope that DUmmy stevenumbers will keep us up to date on the progress of his love life.
Lots of people here stand ready to give him good advice, but we need to know what's going on.
We could have him hopping around in the sack in no time.

3. I have a feeling this will be a last second thing.
Probably a clean debt ceiling limit increase at 11:59pm on August 1st.

As for Obama allowing a default, I think he knows it would look bad on him if the US defaults (even though the lack of bipartisanship is to blame), so no.

11. If he allows a default, that's all the historians will ever remember him for
People won't remember all of the constitutional niceties and play by play legislative history. He will only be remembered as the president who had the US default for the first time on his watch.

6. Yep.
I think that Obama CAN'T say right now that the 14th amendment 'is' an option because if he did then the pressure would be taken off of Congress to get a bill passed. He wants the Congress to believe that 'they and 'only they' must do it.
But if it really comes down to August 2nd and a bill hasn't been sent to his desk - I'll betcha Pres Obama will use his 'emergency powers' and invoke the 14th amendment via an executive order.

From the 14th.
Quote
Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.
Most people, including some DUmmies, understand what the imboldened means. The rest seem to want to grant dictatorial power to the presidency.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

BINGO! H5.
Thats what they ultimately want. A dictatorship. DUmmies dislike freedom, and the constitution, they want the oppression of a dictator, as long as their side gets to call the shots.

The bloodbath that would follow . . . The military would almost be constitutionally bound (at least by the oath) to stage a coup, and conservatives would support that wholeheartedly, IMO.

There were rumblings that any attempt to usurp the authority given to Congress would lead to impeachment. This is not to say that the possibility of going nuclear wasn't explored.

There's a process to deal with that 'way below the level of a coup, the military would continue pursuing national defense and leave it to Congress to impeach his ass if he tried that.  The military would balk when and if he tried to actively use them to enforce dictatorial rule, which isn't really in the cards no matter how pessimistically you look at the current situation.  I personally don't see him ever trying that, first because I think he is inept and wrong rather than evil, but second because the military is an alien world to him and all the key Democrat powerbrokers; they do not understand it and therefore fear it, many actively hating it, and so they would not turn to trying to use it as a tool.

Steve#s will get his first date before that happens.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
