The decay of our civilization

"I do not believe the greatest threat to our future is from bombs or guided missiles. I don't think our civilization will die that way. I think it will die when we no longer care--when the spiritual forces that make us wish to be right and noble die in our hearts. Arnold Toynbee has pointed out that nineteen of twenty one civilizations have died from within and not conquest from without. There were no bands playing and flags waving when these civilizations decayed. It happened slowly, in the quiet and the dark when no one was aware."

Did he mention that most of them died of slothful envy and the over taxation of the workers to provide bread and circuses for the sloths?

4. What Toynbee wrote about dominant minorities, internal proltariates, and societal disintergration...

are very relevant today.

You got that right, the minority left is trying to drive this country into the crapper.

Not much there. Maybe a few of them subconsciously realize they are the driving force of decay.  Nah, their too stupid.

B-I-N-G-O!!!!!
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
