So, she was being deported?
I may have miss under stood Crockspot mention of Poncho Villa.
Some time in 1918 she was in Deming New Mexico teaching school. She married out there and in 8 months was sent home to Maine, as in the words of the day were, she was SHOWING.
Her husband my grandfather stayed behind to fight the war with Mexico. I assume she was deported back to Maine as teachers were not allowed to expose themselves to children when in a delicate condition.
Sloppy seconds were unknown at that time for woman of breeding and education, it was only the woman who got the short end of the stick that would have any knowledge of such things.
