This debate sealed it... Cruz is my guy.
« on: October 29, 2015, 10:15:08 AM »
I'm pretty new here, so my opinion matters little to many... but here's my thoughts.

For the tl;dr crowd... As the title suggests, I'm now 100% behind Cruz as my guy.

First.. Santorum, Jindal, Pataki and Graham.. Just need to give it up.  They are little more than an afterthought in these discussions.  Bow out gracefully before you get destroyed in Iowa, and give a candidate that has a chance your endorsement.

Next.. I think Jeb nailed his coffin shut... Thank Goodness.  Fiorina, Huck (I like him as well), Kasich all generally seem like they peaked not long ago, but have plummeted at this point.  Paul being the exception, as he has not been able to get traction at all.  I've never liked Krispy Kreme... but he had one of the better moments in the debate when he was wondering why the hell the government is worried about Fantasy Football, w/ all the problems we have (full disclosure.. I enjoy Fantasy Football, but only play the free leagues on Yahoo).  Time for these folks to hit the road.

To me.. the below are clearly the "Final Four"...

Carson.. Seems like a nice enough guy, I'm just not sure he has the experience to really get it done like this next pres is probably gonna have to do.  I love his flat tax idea, but he seems to move around on the numbers constantly.. It's somewhere closer to 15%, then it's 11.5%, but he uses 10% to make the math easy (which I fully understand)

Rubio... Certainly quick on his feet, and his smackdown of Jeb was a thing of beauty.  For me... Immigration is his weak spot.  Sometimes it almost sounds like he's supporting amnesty to me, but he's trying to fool us by not just coming out and saying it.

Trump... I love his tenacity and he's my #2 at this point... but as has been pointed out, he does have a history pushing the liberal agenda.. even though I do believe he is on "our side" on some of the more important issues (immigration, job growth)... I always worry about "elites" flipping on us when it comes to gun control (which he also has a history on).

Cruz.. has a 100% conservative track record.  Absolutely destroyed the moderators tonight (which needed to be done, even if it took away a chance to provide a answer on an issue.. and I think the crowd's response showed that).  This guy has been as strict a Constitutionalist in the Senate, as Scalia has on SCOTUS.  He has a proven pro gun and pro life track record.  He's also been very clear on the immigration crisis.

Go, Cruz Go!

I've been following Cruz for a few years.  I loved it whenever he got air time on C-SPAN.  He's definitely my top choice.

Cruz has always been my guy and after last night I think I'll send him some money.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

I am a huge Cruz supporter.  Last night he absolutely unequivocally knocked it out of the ballpark!

Ted Cruz 2016.  Reigniting the Promise of America!!!
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

I am a big fan of Cruz also. My first choice is Trump who could fix the decline in our economy and handle the immigration problem better than any other candidate IMO.

Very little credit was given to Trump when he told MSNBC to go f..k themselves regarding a 3 or 3!/2 hour long debate. I think if he was elected, the commies and rag heads would respect and fear him, and that our hostages in Iran would be on US soil within a week. None of the other candidates can compare with his negotiating skills.

With two exceptions, all of the A-team debate participants did well, with Rubio and Cruz gaining the most ground.  The two exceptions were Kasich and Bush, who both flopped out their dicks and proceeded to stomp 'em flat.  Bush's delivery of his crafted lines is almost as bad and unconvincing as Hitlery's, and it was bad tactics and bad judgment to even try to deliver them at all, especially after Rubio had already debunked his alleged point.

By all indications right now Bush should pack it up and go home ... but wait ... his last name is 'Bush' and he has a ton of money to buy this election... :argh:

I agree w/ you on Kasich and Bush.  Kasich has been in the basement for a while.. .and Rubio single single-handedly turned the lights out on Jeb's campaign w/ that beautiful comeback regarding votes he has missed.  How the hell did one of Jeb's advisers let him walk right into that?  Rubio was clearly ready for that and absolutely destroyed Jeb.

The 4 governors (present and ex) should pack it up and go home. Voters do no want to hear about what they accomplished in their state; they want to hear new ideas on how to fix the country. Paul and Florina should do the same.

Then, we can have a real debate with more substance rather than sound bites.

Agreed. However, the problem is expressing specifics. Beyond more milk toast pablum and rhetoric, none of the candidates can boil down what their plan is in the 30 second sound bite they have to express it. Sanders talked about this in a moldy interview dating from 1989 and it's a valid observation.

So we hear bullshit, generally, meaning rah rah "nothings" that are just rhetoric. It's to the point that when those jokers start that crap, I tune out.

As Cruz so brilliantly pointed out in the last debate, the real problem lies with the moderators.  The way the moderators ask questions and the questions they ask are meant to "demean" the Republican candidates.  That is why the RNC chair has cancelled the next debate with NBC.

Cruz has requested that Hannity, Levin and Limbaugh host a debate...we shall see.

I wasn't speaking solely of this last "debate" which really wasn't much more than an opportunity for the MSM to show how stupid and unenlightening the Republicans are. That effort blew up in their faces well enough. I still can't figure out why Reince Priebus agreed to that charade. It turned out well for especially Cruz, but why deliberately go and enter the viper's den when you don't have to?

More to my point, I was speaking in generalities. The candidate has only a few minutes to deflect attack, set the record straight, answer the question, and put forth a vision that resonates with people, and that's with a moderator that isn't asking bullshit loaded questions like, "When did you stop beating your wife?" There isn't a lot of time to respond to questions at all.

I don't know if Cruz is "my guy" but I see him as the clear debate winner, for the simple fact that it appears that he knows how to deal with liberal/progladyte nonsense, AND hes not shy about doing so very loudly and publicly.

On the other hand, its very clear, of that bunch, who should NOT be considered:

Did anyone watch O'Reilly try to pigeon hole Trump last night? It was funny because Trump got the best of him and I thought that the O was going to blow a fuse. His face got red and his blood pressure shot up.

I hope the two remaining at the end are Trump and Cruz. I don't think Hillary would stand a chance in a debate with either one.

Missed it.  We will know how things are shaping up after the first primary in February.  Rules are different for this election; and we will know who the nominee is much sooner than in the past. There will be another debate in November and another in December -- I would expect that the bottom tier candidates will drop out after that as well as Paul.

I for one would LOVE to see those 3 host a debate.  Hannity answered Cruz by saying he would be all in for it... I've not heard if the other 2 are, but I'd hope they would consider.  We just need 3, TRUE conservatives who can challenge these guys on the issues this country is facing.  Heck most of us Cavers' could do a better job than what those clowns from CNBC did.

I get your point, and agree to a great extent.
In addition I would add, the bar has been set as low as possible by owebuma supporters.
They told us you didn't need any executive experience like running a state to qualify to be president.
The most experience that is needed is to have been a community agitator.

I hear what you are saying, and I think a debate led by conservative moderators would be ideal. Where I think the challenge is going to be is when we actually start to see the presidential debates.  They are just as "skewed" if not more so towards the left.  It will be interesting.  At that point, will Priebus fight to get at least one presidential debate hosted by conservative moderators??  I highly doubt it.  In fact, I would venture to say, they've already been scheduled.

Trump/Cruz

That ticket could take us to the WH for the next 16 years. :cheersmate:

Kasich sounded like an angry old man and Carson makes me sleepy.  He closes his eyes all the time, what's up with that?  Carly is too tightly leashed and robotic, Bush is a big  :loser: Rand loses me on his anti-defense stance and Rubio is nothing more than a slick con man.  Just my opinion, but it hasn't changed for the top guy since Day One; Cruz really impresses me with his passion and would make an excellent Trump apprentice. :yahoo:
