Many Catholic Churches in NYC have closed its doors. Religion is on the decline and our morals are in the toilet. IMO, the Pope should address those issues rather than butting into political issues such as global warming. If he is so concerned about the poor, the Vatican should loosen its money belt to help the downtrodden. I find some of his statements offensive. Americans are the most generous people in the world and his remarks about immigration were off base also.

Got new for the Pope. The US is the richest country in the world because we are a melting pot of people and because of capitalism. The reason the country he was born in along with the rest of South America has so many poor people is just the opposite of how our economic and political system is run.

This is not a predominantly Catholic country like some of those in Central and South America, so what he says holds only minimum sway. And that's true even within the Catholic church. How many who call themselves Catholics use unapproved birth control, or have abortions, or participate in and/or approve of homosexuality, all of which are against Catholic doctrine? So why would they pay any attention when it comes to global warming, immigration, prison, or anything else? The answer is that they won't.

And the libs have screamed "Separation of church and state!! Don't listen to those religious people!!" for so long now, and suddenly people are going to listen to the libs when they say "Listen to the Pope!"? I don't think so.

.
I have to agree.  I am a Catholic and this pope has no clue about actual church doctrine and  is just a blot on the church.

The pope is a heretic.

Welcome, but can you explain what you mean by he's a heretic?  Heretical to the doctrines of Roman Catholicism?  Also, please go introduce yourself in the Introductions and Welcome Forum.

Getting pretty tired of him myself.  Everybody is using him to point out how their opponents aren't living up to him, from Social Conservatives pointing to his statements on abortion and family, to Sandernistas pointing to how eeeevil personal and corporate greed is lethal, to climate shriekers shrieking even louder.  Each one is hearing what they want to hear and shaming their opposite numbers with it, while ignoring anything he says outside their own little paradigm.  It's stupid.

I heard his thoughts on immigration today on the radio. Frankly, I think that asshole has a lot of nerve lecturing us on the rights and wrongs of letting these illegal aliens in when he lives in a walled city.
I have to agree
