Some good news for right now.
"The Federal Election Commission, facing punishing criticism for suggesting that political activity on the Internet should be regulated, rejected talk of new rules Thursday, a victory for GOP commissioners who feared Democrats were targeting conservative sites, even the Drudge Report."
"During a public meeting, Democrats on the FEC said they were responding to the public outcry in saying that no new rules are required."
"Democratic Commissioner Ellen Weintraub said the FEC received 5,000 comments demanding the agency keep their hands off the Internet. In response, she proposed a resolution that directly barred Internet regulation." She starts off her statement emulating the chosen one: "I wanted to make clear...." Ya'll can read her fake empathy if you like.
My opinion? Progressives never back down & never give up. The thought of liberals controlling conservative sites is the same as putting a steak in front of a canine. Reminds me of Hillary's attempt at government controlled health care. It didn't happen then, but the rest is history. Another example was the Fairness Doctrine that would have controlled conservative talk radio. Republicans joined the rest of the liberals in supporting this. Thanks to Reagan when he got out his veto pen.
So they're backing off for now, & contenting their control freak hearts with the regulations that will come from net neutrality, the taxes that will come from classifying the internet as a public utility, & a smile on their faces for squeezing the middle classes yet again.
