Title: For the guys!!
Post by: seahorse513 on January 10, 2014, 04:09:04 PM
and of course, the ladies can give a shout out...

I never know what to say in an email. Do you guys like to be complimented on your smiles? I have a hard time getting a conversation going. It is like, where do I start?

UGGA!!

That works, what's wrong with that?  How about just saying hi and introducing yourself?

Try to keep it light and humorous. There's is not much more enticing and attractive than humor.

Except for boobiez, of course.

What it be worth my while to keep up with football scores? Even though the Pats are in the playoffs? Movies I like or rather ask him about movies he likes, and add in what I like... that is so ****ing hard...

Here, let me help:

I'm wasp.  I like football, big trucks, guns, classical and rock and roll, funny movies, and the outdoors.  I'm retired military and work for a company where I get to travel.  I'm looking for a woman that is fun, sexy, happy, self sufficient, and not a raging bitch.

Now, practice writing me an email and let's see if we can help you out.   :-)

PS:  Don't pretend to be something you're not.  If you don't know, you don't know.

If you yourself follow football and you're a fan, then by all means keep up with scores. But don't just dive into the sport just for the sake of making conversation with a date. You wouldn't be yourself if you did that.

If you're looking for a conversation starter, one of those "if you could have dinner with six people who have existed throughout history, who would they be?" questions might be a good way to start.

The key thing on all this is to be yourself. Don't be somebody you're not.

ETA: Didn't see wasp's post beforehand, who is, of course, completely on target.

What Wasp said, be yourself (from what I've seen that's a big plus for you) and start by talking about what you like. Don't force it.

Oh, and nude pics are always nice.   :whistling:

Hi, I am Seahorse513, I am an avid reader, outdoor nature photographer and sewing enthusiast. I like country, 80's,  and musical soundtracks. I was hoping for a boob shot.

I have been told by the Mrs. FD and others that no one can tell when I am smiling.  I literally have asked people WHILE I AM SMILING "do I look like I am smiling now?" and been told NO.

So I guess I am considered taciturn but people think my emails are hilarious.

Hey Wasp, thank you for writing!! As far as guns go, I an not an enthusiast, but I am learning and passed my NRA basic pistol course last April. I am on an ongoing lookout for the perfect revolver, in hopes for taking future classes.  I tend to be a historical aficionado, as I love history, and enjoy reading historical books. And no, I am not a raging bitch,,,, but slow to boil.....
Speaking of boiling, what is your favorite food?? New England Clam Chowder, and lobster rolls are my favorites, though I enjoy a good steak, medium rare.

Much better, dear, much better.  Now, loosen up a little, you sound a bit stiff.  Be more personable.

You are off to a very good start.  Say what you want to say, the way you say it.  The more you plan it out, the more rehearsed and less real it sounds.  Frankly, you want someone that likes you for who you are, so be you.   :-)

Can't disagree with anything said here.

You know what (probably) the best opening 'line' is?

Quote
Hi!

Smiling after that is a big plus.

So far, so good. He actually lives on a street, that I lived on, back in 95'. 6 emails have been crossed. Crossing my fingers and praying!! I respond better by prompts. When he mentioned, he lived in Manchester, I took it from there, mentioning parks, and museums.

True common interest are a plus....but anything fake will be a MAJOR setback. Be yourself with confidence... If you aren't the one confident with who you are, then you are in trouble cause no one else will be. With that said don't think that your obscure hobbies will be a show stopper either, guys like women that are interesting as well.

Guys can talk forever on one topic...themselves
Ask him
where does he hail from
where did he go to school
vocation
what hobbies or avocations
what is he passionate/ most passionate about
what would be his ideal life
books he may have read
places he has been

Try not to use anything he says as a prompt for you to relate
Only relate if he answers then says something like "what about you?"
Then keep your reply short and sweet then get right back to him
Try not to think of what to say, if the conversation lapses. Try to keep at least one question in reserve to keep it going.

Hope that helps,
But whatever you do don't ask "How dare you".
Unless of course he dares something he shouldn't have.

Sea one thing that got me a lot of dates even if I am quite plain and not so smart was to leave my baggage in storage until I had dated a guy for a year or so.

I cannot tell you the number of guys that all said the same thing,   "You are the first woman I ever met that has no hard luck story, or got along with their family."

Be up beat, try to get the date to laugh and be fun to be around even if it is just over the internet.

Another thing, when a guy is into rock climbing or free falling, read up on their Hobie's
or take an interest if you can so you will know something about their passion.

Example, I met a rock hound and spending the weekend looking at freaking rocks was as fun for me as getting a pubic wax job.

But I began reading up on the passion of his and found myself fascinated with what I could learn from him.   Much time was also spent in Boston in museums seeing the most amazing geodes and to this day I do wonder what the heck is inside that rock outside the door.

Unless you have an interesting passion most men cannot relate to you, but you can to them.    One has to as a woman get a mans interest and unless you are into sky diving or drive a race car, sewing and reading are not tops on their list for interest.

Take them to interesting places they have never been to before  either in person or E-mail.

After a first date, buy or rent a Jeep then invite him on a Jeep weekend where Jeep owners take their cars into impossible places, most fun a man can have without his dick in his hand.

Imagination is what runs a mans world,  out of the blue take him to a strip club or a cat show.   Do not tell him where you are going before you get there.

UNH has some fun things to go to that are free and the last place a man would think to go.    Keep the guy wondering where the heck is by then, his girlfriend, going to take him to next week.

Get him to be able to tell his friends about where ever you spent the surprise weekend and what a crazy woman he was lucky to meet up with.

Important to not tell him where you are going until you get there and find he is at a rock concert or a stump pulling contest.
