Care First BCBS just dropped me with 10 days' warning due to "ACA"

I have had Care First health insurance for many years and my insurance policy is from Feb 1-Feb. 1. I contacted them this week to ask what the renewal premium will be and was told by email, "Your policy ends on Jan. 1 due to the Affordable Care Act."

I wrote them back and asked what aspect of the ACA caused them to make this decision---basically to end my contract without telling me---- b/c I want let my Congressmen and POTUS know the reason.

Any other ideas?

This comes on the heels of my getting a not-so-good diagnosis and needing some pretty significant care.

This company is a POS.

Blame the law that Obama signed not the company for following the law.

It would take a DUmmie to believe that no insurance is better than insurance that you could afford.

It's good that wordprix paraphrased the familiar refrain heard in the Soviet gulags.  Does Obamesiah know of this?

3. Be glad! You're going to get a better plan and save money

If Blanket Statements had stopped with that simpleminded, reality denying response, he would be solidly in with the DUmmies--even with the low post count.  But then he had to go ahead and open his big mouth and post some truth and he squandered all his hard earned goodwill.

28. I'm employer based in a company with 53 people

They could drop coverage.
The increase for a comparable plan is $700/month

That brought on a long, drawn out exchange between Blanket Statements, pnwmom, and cleanhippie.   Blanket Statements  got attacked by pnwmom for not worrying about losing insurance coverage back in the good old days before BarryCare and he got attacked by cleanhippie for worrying about losing coverage now, during the dark era of BarryCare.

Blanket Statements needs to learn to post only democrat party orthodoxy, the truth is too discombobulating for the DUmmies.

Inasmuch as I do not know much about Obamacare, it seems like two questions for the DUmmies could help with whether/not it is a bad deal:

1. Were there a lot of stories about policy-holders being dropped prior to Obamacare?

2. Have there been a lot of stories about policy-holders being dropped since Obamacare began?

If the answers are 1. no, and 2. yes, then it appears to me that Osamacare is the culprit.

The individual plans are not the real story - which will explode in January for those state/local municipalities (whose fiscal years begin in July) when they put their health insurance for public employees out to bid.   The minimum increase for ACA taxes alone for these policies is some 3% or more higher.  There is just no way municipalities can absorb those costs, so layoffs are inevitable.

Someone has to pay for Obamacare.   The story in FY15 (2014) will spotlight just who those someones are.   Cue the public employee unions...

I am familiar with Anthems mainframe.

It ain't a fighter jet, you just can't go all squiggly and expect it to keep up.

They got a team of good folkes that are probably bashing their heads on their desks trying to keep up with the latest proclamations from King Barry.

Don't get me wrong, I hold the insurance companies as culpable as anyone...so no mercy for them.

But I do feel sorry for the crew trying to keep up. Unfortunately, the laws of time and space have already rendered a verdict...

FAIL.

Edit: Actually, Anthems mainframe is not a single box, it is a series of IBM 3090's and I didn't participate in the programming of it. I just provided connectivity

It's kinda funny but back in the day there were 2 routes to Nasco, 1 via Microsoft SNA server (that was me) and 1 via a Novell product (that was my buddy) but I can't remember what that was. Eventually the client software got smart enough that it no longer needed the intermediaries (oh yeah, I remember, it was Attachmate Extra personal client).

Ok, I know, too much information.

The unions were some of the biggest supporters of owebumacare in a push to get it passed. If unions get screwed by it I say it's well deserved.

It wasn't the unions, it was the insurance companies.

After all, how in the heck could you contemplate pushing this thing out of the womb without ABCBS and unitedheatlhcare?

Nah, the unions were just the idiot thugs that they always have been, and then guess what.

They turned around one day, after it passed of course, and found that they were getting screwed! Who wudda thunk it, that's just crazy.

I don't care who you are but that's funny.

I hold no mercy in my heart for the insurance companies but what I do fear is what comes next.

Don't know if it has been talked about here but there is another great thing that was just found in Obama-Democrat Care. The DUchebags are not going to like this at all. Under Obama-Democrat Care medicaid can now get your assets and your children's assets for the money spent on health care. Prior to Obama-Democrat Care that was not the case. Now with the 4X poverty level to qualify for medicaid AND being forced into medicaid, the democrats have initiated one of the largest theft of private property in our history.

Isn't that Re-Imbursement Clause? Where the government takes ALL the deceased's assets.

But the big question is: Will the government wait until after the estate tax is calculated before they grab the assets?

Some states have been doing that for years. I guess the feds wanted to get into the game. I know WV changed their law back in like 96. It only affected assets withing two years. Then people started doing estate planning and the legislature raised it to I think it was 5 years. Currently there is talk about raising it to 7 or even 10 years.

The dummies are gonna get hurt the most out of all this. No inheritance for them!!!! The thing that amuses me the most though is their jonesing for single payer. They think they will be immune. They tend to forget the countries that do have single payer pay for it with a VAT.

Stupid dummies just do not freaking understand there is no damned freaking free lunch!!!!   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Pretty sure they know there's no free lunch.
But they don't care as long as they think someone else gets to pay for it.
It's owebuma money.

Are you talking about inheritance?

Kind of creepy when you think about it.  If you get horribly sick and can't pay your medical bills, but have assets, can that influence the death panel's decision on whether or not you get care?

Yeah, the death panels they battered Sarah Palin with denying their existence.

Well, DUmmie, aren't you glad that it was passed so you could find out what was in it?  Aren't you happy that your "team" won this major victory?  You should be skipping around the maypole now that your evil insurance company has dropped you.

What's that?  You have a diagnosis that is going to saddle you with significant health care treatments?  Awwww, that's a shame, ain't it?  Too bad you won't have the insurance you could afford and will instead have to pay through your nose (if you can find a doctor that will take your new "affordable" insurance) to get less than you got before.  That is if the non existent death panels decide you get a pain killer and a shallow hole instead.

Sucks to be you, DUmmie, but I can't help my mirth at you having done this to yourself...

:ownit:

Merry Christmas, stupid.  Hopefully you'll survive your own ignorance and greed to see the next one.

Hitler threw pure man power at the Autobahn, men with shovels. Those men also asked if Hitler knew of this.

I'm seeing some kind of pattern with Obama.
