That should get our new pet DUmpmonkey all lathered up. He's still angry at Toys R Us for that "no closer than 500 feet" thing.

It is unfortunate that you cannot see who has signed, such as Buzz Lightyear.

Hey - they had a kid looking at a telescope in this ad.  That's environmentalish.

How is learning about trees more appropriate on a diesel sucking school bus where the children are packed in 3-4 to a seat?

They're the target of an internet petition signed by a crazy bald dwarf. Shit!!

Some are extreme. Just like quite a few here are. I filter through that and find a lot of great information from articles and videos people at DU link. You guys might try doing more of that than stalking DU. That just makes you look pathetic. You could be like Free Republic but with a slightly better GUI.

I have yet to be surprised by one.

As far as stepping in my share, so what.  I also spread it, pumped it, moved it, even plowed it under.

I also had to negotiate thru more than my fair share of bureaucratic shit, and I'll take the bovine variety any day.

All you needed to "negotiate" with the latter type was a shovel.

I'd say you are correct there PW. Those that don't fit the "stereotype" seem to get banned for some reason. Fact is PW, DU is the laughingstock of the internet. Defend it all you want... the facts say you are wrong. When you got people that are too damned helpless to figure out how to google changing a faucet washer, grown adults in their 50's mind you, that says something.

When you got locutus, a 30 year old male that can't seem to GET A JOB, that says something.
When you got grown adults, in their 50's, pulling stupid stunts, like hiding the remote in their place of business, that says something.
When you got a drug addict that post, when you got someone that thinks she is a male panther in a female human body that post, that says something.

Keep it up PW. I got a lot more examples. Million dollars worth of advice for free, PW. This is a debate you will lose and lose badly.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I tire of you. This is like Alabama playing a high school team. Boring. We are talking 70 points by half time here.

Have a nice evening.

I, for one, appreciate that you came over here and maybe we can discuss our ideological differences. Actually, I didn't say I "grew up" on a farm. I said I spent part of my childhood on a farm. A couple of them actually. One of them was my grandmothers which she inherited from her father. And he was raised there by his grandfather.  So I know a few things about farming and the agricultural life, but I have also lived in and know quite a bit about living in urban and suburban environments.

The only reason I brought up my farming background is diesel brought up his. I threw in the fact that I owned guns and had been hunting a fair amount as a teenaager along with fishing in rivers and lakes of Missouri.  I worked in the sporting goods department of Walmart back then and sold a ton of guns and ammo along with sporting goods equipment, camping gear, fishing tackle, and the like.

Yeah, there is a lot you don't know about someone but you choose to prejudge them just because they may happen to have different political views than you.

Funny how you're the one declaring the score of some imaginary game in your head.  No one has come up with much of a credible response re: my point that while people on here enjoy posting what they consider to be the most outlandish comments on DU, they also don't point out the counter balancing opinions calling said comments on their B.S.

Also, other than some lame "he was a COMMUNIST" no one has put up much of a defense as to why a man viewed right up there with Gandhi, MLK, and Jesus Christ in his graceful conduct has to be assailed by conservatives here and on other sites.  My guess is because they don't want to admit when they were wrong about a man unlike this guy over at The National Review

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/365631/nelson-mandela-rip-deroy-murdock#!

Far, far, far from any of that, Nelson Mandela turned out to be one of the 20th Century’s great moral leaders, right up there with Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He also was a statesman of considerable weight. If not as significant on the global stage as FDR, Winston Churchill, and Ronald Reagan, he approaches Margaret Thatcher as a national leader with major international reach.

Mandela invited the warden of Robben Island prison to his inauguration as president of South Africa. He sat him front and center. While most people would be tempted to lock up their jailers if they had the chance, Mandela essentially forgave him while the whole world and his own people, white and black, were watching. This quietly sent South Africa’s white population a message: Calm down. This will be okay. It also signaled black South Africans: Now is no time for vengeance. Let’s show our former oppressors that we are greater than that and bigger people than they were to us.

Thanks. I have definitely spent time on other boards not focused on politics but did engage with conseratives on a number of topics. I can handle the fact that not everyone agrees with my own worldview, and I have my strong reasons for why I believe the way I do shaped by experience and seeing the world.  Obviously, there is a positive creative tension in the U.S. between free market, property rights, indivualism POV and shared destiny, national unity, social welfare side of things.

I listen to NPR and BBC news. I can't stand any of the cable news outfits. I got rid of satellite and cable. Mostly get my news from my daily subscription to The Wall Street Journal along with Time magazine, The Atlantic, The Economist.

Two things:

2.  Ghandi, MLK, and Jesus never advocated indiscriminate bombing to advance their causes nor did they cavort with mass murderers.

You can use the Constitution to interpret any of those matters.

The problem arises when liberals argue that the Constitution is a "living, breathing" document and invent fake rights like the right to murder an unborn baby.

I don't have a direct line, but it's pretty clear they had no desire for a massive federal government that would decide for us all what kind of health insurance we need. They would have no desire for massive taxation and Ponzi schemes such as social security and Obamacare. They would probably be all for nuclear power, space travel and so forth in the private sector. Genetic modification of food is nothing new, it used to be done on the farm, now it's done in a lab. They sure as hell wouldn't be telling us to ignore the voices who warn of tyranny.

With the bullshit you've pulled (KKK reference, etc.,) so far, you've no intention of playing nice.  Don't shit on the carpet then complain that our house is a mess, mkay?

And IIRC, you've still to refute the charge that Mandela was a communist who associated with, if not was himself a terrorist.  Care to address that?

No, scooter--lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.  You are just as batshit crazy as those from whom you refuse to distance yourself.

People will be judged by their own actions. I willingly own that I called you guys konservative kave kids because it is funny. I only did so after reading your "child molester" shit you were writing about me long before I came back onto your discussion board. Your site has a pretty good search function also.

I have refuted that Mandela was a communist. I also had no problem with the fact that he and his group were looking at gaining their political voice through more violent means since the corrupt and unjust apartheid government had stripped away the rights of the African majority to representation. No votes. Second class status in the country. Nonviolence had been tried for years and didn't work. Mandela was not, himself, invovled in those actions. Perhaps in retrospect his almost THIRTY YEARS IN PRISON were a blessing in that respect because he was confined and not out on the streets fighting the fight.

What you have failed to do is show how even his tangential connection to the more violent aspects of the ANC take away in any large measure what it was he accomplished in bringing about a peaceful transition of power as the first democratically elected leader of South Africa with virtually no vengeance and retribution occurring black on white. He accomplished much and his duly honored worldwide for his efforts.  Only very bitter and narrow minded people would see it differently.

You forgot that none of the three ever got arrested with a massive cache of weapons.

Or had a Lithuanian born communist, that liked to blow up civilians, as their right hand man.

So the ends justify the means, and if the results are the ones you like we ignore the blood on his hands.

What if he was a conservative would you be so forgiving? You wouldn't, you would allow his violent past to overshadow any good that came of his being in office. Don't try denying it.

Case in point--Reagan was the catalyst for the West's victory in the Cold War without firing a shot, and yet the left STILL considers him the devil incarnate.

Two things:

1.  Yes, we have.  You chose to plug your ears and "lalalalalala".

2.  Ghandi, MLK, and Jesus never advocated indiscriminate bombing to advance their causes nor did they cavort with mass murderers.

Uh...no you haven't. In all of those comments, the closest you got was in saying Mandela's long-estranged wife made comments in support of "necklaces" in a speech. Mandela was in prison at the time. Soon after he left prison, it was clear he and Winnie were not really meant to be together considering all of her corruption and the like, and they divorced. Your garbage you brought up may be one or two degrees of separation from Mandela, but they have nothing to do with what Mandela said or did.

What were the quotes where Nelson Mandela advocated indiscriminate bombing? Jesus covorted with murders, tax collectors and prostitutes. MLK was with LBJ when Civil Rights Act, so I guess he did cavort with mass murderers.

Well, I mean, that's one of the rare opportunities for the race baiters to lead the charge against "whitey."  Every now and then the grievance industry will care about a crime if it's an opportunity to push their false "racism" narrative.

Some are extreme. Just like quite a few here are. I filter through that and find a lot of great information from articles and videos people at DU link. You guys might try doing more of that than stalking DU. That just makes you look pathetic. You could be like Free Republic but with a slightly better GUI.

By all means, share.   If you can put together a collection of threads that meet this description I am sure Frank will even sticky it for you - or it may get it's own forum.

We actually do celebrate the bright and coherent DU posters here.   We have found however the moment we do that the DU natives start attacking that poster, and they soon find themselves with a pizza delivery they didn't order.

When I first came here I too thought the DU postings were obsessive/stalking - but the DU is like reading the National Enquirer in the checkout line of the supermarket.   You don't look away, and you always find yourself chuckling.    The scary part is that you don't recognize that all we do here is bring your entire post over to laugh about.   Cut and paste.   We don't change a word.   :)

What is your personal opinion on how the Founders would have felt about nuclear power, space travel, the internet, embryonic stem cell research, and genetic modification of food?  Since you seem to have a line directly into what exactly the Founders would have felt acceptable and unacceptable about our modern society.

I imagine the same way they would have felt about steam engines, cars, electric lights, refrigerators, telephones, etc.  All started by individuals' ideas, free from government interference.

As far as "genetic modification of food", that's nothing new, it's been going on for thousands of years.  Back then, it was called "selective breeding" and "cross-pollination".

But I'm sure they would look on the government as it is today and wonder why the hell they even bothered, because I'll bet you any amount of money you care to loose THIS is NOT what they ever intended for government to be nor become.

When I said "I grew up on a farm", I meant, I GREW UP ON A FARM!.  Not spent summer vacation there, I worked there, played there, lived there.  I milked the cows (all 130 of them, twice a day, EVERY DAY), plowed the fields, harvested the crops, and spent most of the winter feeding those same cows I just milked and repairing equipment to be ready come spring.  In between all this, there was the constant battle to comply with STUPID government regulations made by overeducated morons who had no idea which end of a cow to put a hay bale and which end to use a shovel.

It's one of the reasons I quit farming:  the constant bullshit of having to put up with ever changing regulations.  I could handle drought, floods, heat, cold, even the markets.  But politicians, expecialy DIMRAT politicians, made my life a living hell.

So don't give me this "I spent time on a farm, so I know something about agriculture" bull!  I've forgotten more in the the 30 years since I've farmed than you could ever know, and you don't know SHIT about agriculture, DUmbass!

What a ****ing poser.

Boy, visiting your grandma's farm doesn't give you insight to farm life- any more than going to Dunkin' Donuts qualifies you to be a pastry chef.

My father's family homesteaded Nebraska.

Pull a foal at 3 in the morning; walk beans for 12 hours cutting volunteer corn out of the field; milk cows twice a day when it's 5 below outside; round up, brand, poll, and cut yearlings; take a load of calves to the sale barn; listen to grain prices on the radio and calculate the yield in your head, to figure out if it makes more sense to harvest a field or put cattle out to feed on it.

Carry a rifle in your truck or saddle scabbard, because predators and varmints come in all shapes and sizes, and the sheriff is 45 minutes away on a good day.

Know the satisfaction of living by your own sweat and intelligence. Go to a steakhouse and know that the beef in your freezer is better than the restaurant's. Drive past a sign that says "One American Farmer Feeds 132 people... plus YOU" and saying "Damn right". And know that this country is full of ungrateful assholes who want only to take what we produce, then take more, give nothing in return.

I did all of those things before my 17th birthday.

And you just lose any shred of cred you have on Skin's Island for admitting you worked at WalMart. Between that and your homophobia, I'm surprised they haven't tombstoned you.

Ditto.  Former fellow farmer ^5 to ya!

I like to see how ol' Pinko Warrior would have handled being 12 years old, and helping his dad and the vet pull a dead calf out of a cow.  One that had died and was swelling up inside the cow.

Long story short, using a block and tackle, a meat hook, and OB chains, we got the calf out, in 4 pieces, it took 5 hours, and yes, I puked my guts out!

But I never left!

I'm sure I know more about the Bible than you do.  I was raised in a Christian religion that I left after years once I realized all religion is a scam.

Well gee mr biblical expert, I'm amazed they didn't make you pope with all your knowledge.

You're wasting your time.  Scum like this always twist religion and the founders to make their points.  But, truth be known, they detest these giants because they know they will never accomplish anything of value in their sad parasitic lives.

HI5...My grandfather had a farm and I did visit for summers and help bail hay, feed horses, cows and pigs when he had them. I learned how to drive on a OLD John Deere tractor when I was about 11ish. I have NEVER said I know farm life, but I have seen a glimpse. It is HARD work for sure and not for the faint at heart. I have a lot of respect for those who choose that life.

Edit for sp.

Wasn't one with the hand clutch, was it?  Our neighbor had one, and I was forever hitting the left brake for the clutch.  :rotf:

11ish, eh.  Why start so late?  I was driving small Internationals by 6, 100 hp Farmalls at 8.  (Nothing runs like a Deere, unless it's an International Harvester!)   :-)

It had a flywheel to start and dual brakes....hand clutch is foggy (been a few years  ::) ) . As far as the late start, My grandfather would have had me driving at 2 if it would have meant the hay was pulled in faster....but dear old dad didnt want me driving till 18 (cause he couldn't stop it at that point). He wasn't happy with what I was doing to friends go-carts and later cars...he thought I was going to kill myself.  :-) Yea my grandfather got a pretty big Case tractor when I was about 16ish, (It had the floorpan for a cab, but didn't have the top part.) That tractor was like driving a Cadillac compared to the deere which was like driving a mule that didnt like you.... :rotf:

That would have been a letter series Deere, probably an "A" or "B"...I grew up on them too.
Mowed a lot of hay with an unstyled "A" with a number 5 mower mounted on it with a foot lift for the cutterbar.

We had 2 "A"s a "50" and a "530".
Now I have a fleet of 4010/4020/4000s plus a 190XT Allis.

That hand clutch incorporated inside the belt pulley was actually quite an advantage.
Backing up to equipment was easy as you could nudge the tractor back to line up the hitch and drawbar from the ground.
It was easily adjustable with the 3 stand bolts and usually only the outer lining went bad which could be replaced in minutes.
If you had to do the inner one or ones depending on model it could be a pain but still did not require splitting the tractor.

I'm amazed that some people are unaware of their "gods."  Who and/or what they worship.  Every human has one, and from what I've observed DUmmies worship themselves first and anything else convenient after that.  Their prayers are "Free to me.  No accountability by me. A life of ease for me."  And to justify their own self-serving worship, they push these ideals on the rest of the country.  Proselytizing for their false gods.

What you have failed to do is show how ...

You've refuted? To who? Failed to show? Where? To whom (that matters)? Not to me. Not to others here.

This is no different than what you dolts do on Skin's island. Because you believe X is true then it becomes the standard. Well that's not how the real world works. DU is a bubble, and one built in imaginary world at that.

What you've concluded is not the final decision. And your claims that many people see things the way you do is the most basic of logical fallacies.

You're accomplishing nothing except repeating what we knew you would say anyway. Your answers are coarse and simpleminded. And even your arguments at DU are not very good. I'm not a liberal but even I have a better understanding and could give better arguments in favor of liberal ideology than every member at DU combined. It's also because of that that I know why it's a bunch of baloney.

You're in way above your head.

You guys love to put words into others' mouths. I said I had hunted a number of times and owned guns in the past. Since when does that mean I love guns?  I sold my last gun when I was still a teenager. I happen to be in possession of a shotgun because a friend who was moving to NYC didn't have room in his truck for all of his belongings gave it to me.

Again, what is the deal with claiming I said things I didn't. I have no problem believing some would be ok with my post over at DU and others would whine about anyone ever having a gun ever.  Same with eating meat or hunting. Some don't care and some have their strong opinions. Big deal. They would not ban me over it. Or even hide my thread.

What did Jesus say His mission here was and why He was to die on the cross?

There is some question among religious historians as to whether Jesus died on a cross or a single upright stake of wood in the ground.

Jesus preached "love your neighbor as yourself" and "love God with your whole heart" and said all of the Mosaic Law was summed up by these.  He was here to end the special relationship Jews had with Yaweh and said he, himself, was the way, the truth, and the life.  In other words, he said he was here to die for mankind's sins.

I may not agree with Jesus' words 100% but he certainly had a much better philosophy about how humans should treat one another than most Republican "Christians" do today.

I don't think 90% want guns confiscated. I think they want more control of handguns and other weaponry than the gun lobby seems to allow Congress to pass these days.  We can all agree or disagree on a whole spectrum of things that could be done re: stopping the flow of guns into the market, but there is no right or wrong answer. There is obviously SOME amount of gun control most people are ok with. (For instance, most think people who have a history of mental illness or who have served time in prison for violent crimes shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm.

Yeah, because forcibly taking from some to give to others who have no desire to contribute to society so fits His teaching.
You would be wise to give heart knowledge to what He said about sins and our need to accept Him as Lord and Savior.
Probably won`t though because that requires self sacrifice, something that is a foreign concept to libs.

And yet, you side with the gun grabbers on DU, according to the sentiments you yourself post.

That makes you either a liar or hypocrite.

Do we really need to go digging for your DU posts on guns eh?

Go for it. Go look up my posts on guns. I have gone on record as saying sportsmen of America should not have to do without rifles and shotguns but there should be plenty of restrictions on guns. Not actual gun ownership--but things like universal background checks and the like.

Believe me, I have argued round and round with gun humpers since 2000. I know all of the arguments people will throw out there for and against.   You guys cannot deny although you try mightily that countries with much stricter gun laws have much lower gun crimes and much lower murder per capita than the U.S.

What I took from PW's post was since he "spent time on a farm, owned guns, went hunting", etc., he's now expert on all these things.

I worked at the local Walmart in the Electronics Department back in 2008, but I don't claim to be a computer expert.  I own guns, too, I don't claim to be a marksman.

DUmmies, however, can read a pamphlet on opening a checking account, and then claim to be experts in "economics"!   :lmao:

That would be  a wrong conclusion to draw from my post.  The point of my post is sometimes conservatives who skew toward rural America tend to build up stereotypes about the biography of people with liberal or progressive views about life.  I'm merely pointing out I did not spend my life in urban settings unaware of what it is like to muck out a horse stall and wheel barrow that shit down to become compost for a garden.  I am merely pointing out one can have hunted for deer, rabbit, squirrel, etc. and not be afraid of guns but still wish to see more control on handguns in U.S. cities to help stem the violence and death from guns in the U.S. that is appalling and something that can be changed (just ask Australia).

Do you have anything to say that isn't a vanity post? DU is a highly censored and controlled environment, which you should know, what with all of your hidden posts over there (yeah, you have a lot...don't make me shame you by proving it)?

What the F*** are you talking about? My posts today are focused on answering people's posts they made in this same thread.  I am not starting any new posts until we beat this set of subjects into the ground and I can hopefully force one of you to stay on point and address what I actually said instead of what you imagined or wished I'd said.

Regarding DU, so what? I had posts hidden. Anyone can go over there and see the subject matter and find out people are held to account on DU if they get personal in their comments or use "over the top" language.  Sometimes, I have felt the possiblity of the hide was worth it.  In the more recent ones, there are examples of some choosing to hide my posts because I don't toe the liberal line on everything, and I call the Barack Obama detractors out on their garbage.

Jesus said "Pay back Caesar's things to Caesar but God's things to God."  So he definitely thought his followers should dutifully pay their taxes to Caesar and devote their lives to God.  He said his kingom is no part of this world and his followers should be no part of this world. Fundamental interpretation of who Jesus was and what he and his followers said and did would indicate TRUE Christians shouldn't even involve themselves with politics of this world.  So Jesus did not advocate a specific % that would be ideal to pay toward the commons so we might have roadways, schools, and fire departments.

If Jesus had wanted to take care of the poor by taking from the rich would he have not done so, or advocated doing so? His message was to reach in your own pocket and help those in need, not petition the government to take from your rich neighbor and give that to the poor. Jesus wanted people to help each other out of love, not at the barrel of a gun.

and yet many "conservatives" and Republicans take advantage of the welfare state.  BTW. The largest segment of U.S. population in poverty was the senior citizen prior to the New Deal.  With the full deployment of social security, poverty among the very old who had worked their entire lives but not had savings in their retirment dropped dramatically.

Government of the people and by the people gives us more of a chance of having an equitable society than other forms of government. People voted for these things and they got them.  Social Security is but one example of the programs that have continued to make us one of the better off nations in the world.

Social Security is another government scam. Oh they happily take our money every paycheck, then they take that money and spend it on whatever they want. It will be bankrupt by the time I turn 65.

Not saying that is the only answer, but I bet it's a lot easier for workers to give another 0.5 to 1% of payroll over to social security than it is for an elderly person to see their social security amount cut.  A lot of things could be done. Raise the cap at which social security payroll tax isn't taken out.

Most were rural families.  Come to think of it, the largest segment of the US population in poverty back then was the US population.  There was no such thing as retirement until the Raw Deal.

If you want to see how a REAL retirement plan works, check out Galveston, TX.  They opted out of SS back in the 80's, before the dimrats closed the loophole.

Based on my reading at the DUmp, at least 90 percent want all guns to vanish from the earth.  If they can't get that, then they want an oppressive tax on ammunition, and a limit on magazines to about 5 rounds.  I could bring over loads of posts advocating for everything I just said.  To the DUmp, gun control consists of going back to black powder and single action revolvers.  To us, gun control means hitting your target.  It's a big divide.  But most of America is on our side of the issue, not yours.

And to your point about mental illness and felonies.  The laws on the book are quite sufficient.  It's just a matter of enforcing them.

Sort of like border control - a little enforcement would go a long way to solving the problem.  But, since the bill passed by the Senate has lots of proposed border control, but leaves it up to the Homeland Secretary to decide what gets done, and when (a little fact never mentioned by the far left) I guess we'll just grant amnesty now and hope we get enforcement of the border later.

As far as PWhiped post on background checks and other gun control, I found an interesting article the other day.

I think it stated there were over 50,000 felons caught by background checks, trying to buy a gun.

Only 16 of them were prosecuted.

DUmmie gun control.

Are you kidding me?  That's the context you got out what he said?  Did you miss the part where the Pharisees and Herodians were looking to pull some chikenshit trap, getting him to say they didn't have to pay taxes and tell the authorities Jesus was preaching to not pay taxes?

His point sailed straight over your head.  No wonder you turned from Him - you don't have the first clue as to what He was saying.
