In the OP, she reports on an earthquake, then the bullies show up:

13. That quake is as close to Texas as it is to California.
I can see the map, too. Zoom out, and you'll understand.
Now, it's close to Baja California, of course. Not very close to the state of California in the USA, though. No closer than it is to Texas. In fact, this earthquake is as irrelevant to California and Arizona as it is to Texas.

That's an earthquake in Mexico. It's 505 miles from Phoenix, for pete's sake.
And it's California, not "Cali." Nobody who is actually from California calls it "Cali." Teenage girls in Minnesota call it "Cali."
Truly.

Almost.

31. I just eyeballed the map
and it looks like this 'quake was in point of fact a little bit closer to Texas than it was to California.
But I'm pretty sure Villa Juarez (the place referenced in the description) and Ciudad Juarez (the border town) are two different places.

36. Give it a rest.
Enough already.
Who cares where it was?
The important thing is you read it here first.
That's called a "scoop".
And as any journo knows,(meaning YOU don't know this), a scoop does not have to be accurate.

37. I am as humbled by your post
as a screaming coyote desperately climbing a tree to escape the free-flowing electricity pouring into the earth from a wind turbine.
Well played, sir. Well played.

Gee, nutcase know-it-all, does the type of rock influence earthquake intensity?

39. Yup, old rock tends to carry it better
We are on somewhat, relatively speaking new rock.
And it is breaking all the time. As I keep saying substrate matters at how far it carries and damage.
I live on a wonderful sandy ground, where a relatively shallow quake will do a lot more damage than the same quake where my mom lives, in Mexico City, which is old basalt.
It is a fascinating science what and why quakes do what they do.
Her resume needs to include "seismologist" and "geologist".
Is there no limit to the breadth of her knowledge?

Was there any numbers for Tucson??
At that time there was something here. Me and some others just thought some pilot was pretending to be "Maverick" again.

I was at the coffee shop writing and it was just there. I did not think I felt it, but I think I did. More like the window rattled for a second, at most.

I just thought of something- both nads and Amber reported feeling seismic activity.
I'll bet Amber a ham sandwich that both her and nads were only feeling the effects of their own girth causing the earth below them to quiver.
One must tread lightly to avoid inciting panic when one is lugging around that kind of tonnage.

Losers all over there, Jake. Losers all.

My question is why Nads family are still in Mexico. She has the ability to bring them here to the land she has lived in for 30 year's+.
Why would a family want to live in Mexico when their child can get them into a country that people brave shark infested waters to paddle 90 miles to get here ?
What benefit does Nads family get to live in Mexico, gives me reason to pause and wonder WTF.
Nads has a story of her background that is interesting, but I have to question it, I have never met an immigrant coming to America that did not work 2-3 jobs to get their family here with them.

The benefit to the family is that Mexico is a long way from nadin.

I'm guessing the case is this, vesta dear:
nadin has a brother who's a physician, and lives in Ohio (or he might be an uncle).
nadin has a sister who's a dietician, and apparently lives in the United States.
nadin's mother is pretty ancient, and has lived all of her life in Mexico (or damned near all of it); she's used to it, and as with many elderly people, resistant to trying something new.
nadin grew up among the 1% of Mexico, meaning her mother has the means to travel to this country any time she wishes (for medical care and all that).

How can anyone be so wrong for so long so completely and never ever feel even the slightest twinge of, "Hey, maybe I should knock this shit off because people think I'm an idiot?"
-
It would be interesting if someone would have thought to keep track of what she has actually been correct about since we first discovered her. A sheet of paper a tenth of the size of a business card should be enough for the list and still leave plenty of room to do some doodling.

I wonder if nadin is doing this on purpose.
Perhaps she feels empowered to get prominent DUers tombstoned.

14. Almost as bad as saying "Frisco"
Almost.
I've heard people call San Francisco Frisco but I've never heard anyone call California Cali in conversation.
Here's a little something I found while searching the internet on this subject that might clear this up for the Mineral Man:
An abbreviation (from Latin brevis, meaning short) is a shortened form of a word or phrase. Usually, but not always, it consists of a letter or group of letters taken from the word or phrase. For example, the word abbreviation can itself be represented by the abbreviation abbr., abbrv. or abbrev.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbreviation
I wonder if it's ok with Mineral Man if teenage girls call the California Institute of Technology Caltech.

She did say her reportage vest stunk, one time.
I have no reason to doubt that. None at all.

I was born, raised and lived 50+ years in So Cal. We TYPE "So Cal" but always SAY "Southern California" or "L.A." which means "everything from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border."
Folk that hate L.A. call everything from Trancas Beach to Eureka the "Gold Coast." The extremists include Zuma/Pt. Dume in that designation.
Being a typical Los Angeleno, I moved 10+ times in 40 years but always in the confines of L.A. Broad North to Malibu, Hard North to Azusa, East to Mira Loma/San Berdu, East to West Covina/La Puente.
No human being knows more about the L.A. area than I.

Perhaps she feels empowered to get prominent DUers tombstoned.
She may see that as a side benefit, but nadin was really worried about the sudden prominence of threads about Doug Bulna and Amber Hoyt.
She had to put them in their place, well behind her in DOTY qualifications.
What you're seeing is the beginning of nadin's waddle to the finish line.

Even though I've lived in Florida all my life so far (excluding various duty stations while in the Air Force and Navy), I cannot recall ever seeing the state name abbreviated as 'Flor', 'Flori', etc., but rather it's always been FL, or Fla.
I have wondered why the people of New York (state) are seemingly embarrassed by the names of all the cities/towns in that state other than New York City. Any place other than that is almost invariably referred to as 'upstate New York.'
When things happen in other states the town/city is named, as in Sanford, Florida rather than upstate Florida.

We're not embarassed, it's just that no one really knows where those other places in NY are without using NYC as a point of reference.
