According to the Publishers Weekly Twitter account, American author Tom Clancy died Wednesday in a Baltimore hospital at age 66.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Tom Clancy went on write technically detailed espionage and military science books.
He is responsible for best-selling books such as "The Hunt for Red October," "Patriot Games," "Clear and Present Danger," and "Rainbow Six."
I think I'm going to re-read Red Storm Rising when I get home tonight :( I named my son for Jack Ryan.

Damn. I really enjoyed his stuff, especially his earlier novels. Amazingly accurate in details.
Less interesting, but I still managed to buy copies of his Study in Command series - Fred Franks, Ned Horner, and Carl Stiner.
Not too crazy about his Rainbow Six stuff.
Very prolific writer.
RIP, Tom. You will be missed. :taps:

I bought all of his stuff. I actually know a couple of the officers in his book about life in an armored cavalry regiment.
RIP, Mr. Clancy. :taps:

Never read a book of his but his reputation shows he was a man to adore. RIP :(

Harrison Ford built a career on the movies that came from Clancy's books.

I know he's a liberal quack but my fav Jack Ryan was Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October.
One of the best movie quotes ever in that film from Fred Thompson "A Russkie don't take a dump without a plan, son."

I think he might have already been set with those bit parts in "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones"...
