Has anyone here had a fecal transplant for constipation? I'm considering trying it.
Yes, folks, I'm still suffering from chronic constipation. I'm retired now, and Mr Nay and I want to do some traveling; unfortunately, constipation makes traveling a real pain. I have recently heard about fecal transplantation being helpful for IBS/C. difficile infections/diarrhea, and some people have said it even helps with chronic constipation.

3. try mixing oat and wheat fiber one or the the other doesn't help me stay regular, but for some reason if I eat both (usually in bread) I can keep things moving...
Googling shows the transplant is helpful for some. There don't seem to be any risks to the procedure. It might be worth it. (have you had your poo tested? that can tell you if your good bacteria is low.)

4. Sorry to hear it!
No experience with this myself. I know people who've said they've had good success with magnesium supplements, and with acidophilus pills.
Good luck with whatever you do!
^^^yeah, that's the Manny franksolich knows, always bubbling with good cheer.
A great guy, Manny.

5. magnesium chloride aka magnesium oil.
You can drink it unless you have kidney problems. Alta makes caps...http://www.vitacost.com/alta-health-products-magnesium-chloride
Rub it on your skin too - Transdermal Magnesium Therapy.
Take acidopholis
Hmmm. So that must be why the pie-and-jam primitive, the grasswire primitive, overdosed on magnesium tablets a couple of years ago, and had to be sent to the emergency room at the hospital. Apparently addled Judy was constipated.
However, there's an easy remedy to bowel problems and ailments.
Put some roughage and fiber into the diet. Presto! problem solved.
But because that doesn't require drugs, the primitives won't buy it.

Taco Bell.

So let me see if I understand this... they want to take the poop out of someone else and put it up their ass? Cause they got chronic constipation?
Wow. I mean just wow. Just when I thought I had heard everything under the sun from the dummies... hell for that matter just when I had thought I had heard about everything period!!!!
Words escape me.

Hope she tries the surgery. I'm interested at what will be said at her funeral.

What the HELL is a fecal transplant. The only thing I can think of is a gay gang bang.....

Odd as it sounds, it is a real thing, and it really works for some cases.
I haven't heard of it being used at all for chronic constipation. Never. But I'm not an MD. I have heard of it working wonderfully for people who were on long courses of antibiotics that essentially eliminated the good bacteria from their intestines. They ended up with chronic diarrhea, poor absorption, skin problems (sometimes dangerous issues). Sometimes yogurt isn't enough.
I hope I never need it. It's just repulsive.
-
Dear DUmmy...just eat shit and die, okay?
-
Ew. I just now went to that link.
Apparently it's effective, and apparently it's been done for decades.
But what made me "ew" about it was that I originally thought it involved re-inserting one's own, well, one's own excresence, much like one's own blood's taken out and stored for later use in surgery.
But no.....it involves injecting someone else's.
Uh.....I dunno.

This just proves my long held theory. Most DUmmies are actually full of s%*t!

The thing that irritates me about it is that she's now retired, meaning we taxpayers are going to pick up the tab for this, because it's probably Medicare.
Once 0bamacare's fully implemented though, about the best she's going to get from the physician is a loaf of whole-wheat whole-grain bread, which she should've been taking in the first place.

Strangely enough, yeah I've heard of this. My understanding though is that it was for those that did not have normal levels of the bacteria (e.coli?) in their intestinal tract.
(D)Ullards should not have a problem with lack of feces. They're full of it. It does not surprise me that they would look at this as a relief from constipation. Easier than getting off Mom's couch and preforming manual labor and slacking off on the Cheetos, I guess......

The primitives are notoriously anal-retentive.
Oh God, they're anal-retentive.
If they "suffer" from constipation, it's just that they don't want to let go of it.
Sigmund Freud wrote a whole book about this, anticipating the primitives by about a hundred years.

Taco Bell.
Chipotle works wonders with the really hot sauce on it. Just gotta be careful with blood, or poor ventilation. You don't wanna pass out and hit your head on the tub and die.

Constipation is a result of poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, and abundant drug useage.

It's part of the old hippie deal about "I can do anything I want to do, and if something bad happens, doctors and drugs'll fix it for me."
Like pigging out on candy, and then expecting diet pills to drop the fat.

I haz duh solution for DUmmie constipation....buy a 55 gallon barrel of prune juice and drown herself in it.

Seriously, I suppose if it were a matter of life or death, any of us would submit to it.
But man, I'd spend a lot of time contemplating my life, wondering what the Hell I did wrong with it, to have to have such a thing done.

It would have to be a very serious condition....a life or death situation and absolutely no other cure.

If it was the difference between life and death, I think most people would grab a spoon and eat a big pile of it, if it would save their lives.

It makes sense for situations where a person's natural bacteria has been wiped out. I don't think that constipation is a suggested situation for using it. A better idea would be to drink plenty of water and lots of fiber, and maybe start incorporating a stool softener.

One of the worse problems for older patients in nursing homes is to become clogged up, the stool is rock hard and only way to clear it is to manually dig it out.
This like bed sores is poor nursing care, the patient has not had fluid intake monitored and is really dehydrated. These patients may as well have cement in the intestines. I have seen this only in patients that stay in bed 24/7.
These patients are on a all baby food diet, no fiber really and few will eat much of the food as there is a no salt order. There are some nurses that do go against the diet orders to add salt to the good awful food just to get the patient to eat.
When one is over 80 years in age and the body fails but the brain is alive and active, sentenced to a life in bed 24/7 and no way to communicate to anyone, then throw out the rules, give them a shot of Wiskey, Salt on their food and a back rub each night. Insure they are re hydrated even if by IV, spar them Hell on earth.

Now I'm worried, really worried.
I've never worked in a hospital or a nursing home, or worked with a bedridden person (other than kicking their ass and telling them to get out of it).
Your allegation, which is the first I've heard of it, sounds ominously credible, believable, possible.
But please tell me it's a joke, right?
-
Unfortunately, what Vesta described does happen. And, unfortunately, it is most often (though not always) a preventable condition.
It's better if a nurse can manually remove the stool. Usually the nurse just has to get things started and the person's natural impulses kick in. Sometimes surgery is required, and sometimes the surgery results in an colostomy. Sometimes temporary. Sometimes permanent.
Given the totality of "what can go wrong with a human body," it is amazing any of us can function!

I kind of feel the same way watching that Dr. Pol guy in National Geographic when some horse or cow can't give birth or goes lame.

My eyes crossed and the face turned green.
Oh.Good.God.
If I'd thought of it, which I hadn't until vesta mentioned it, I would've figured they just dispensed a double or triple dose of Ex-Lax; something like that.
You know, sometimes my abysmal naivete and lack of knowledge about how things are in the world troubles me, but this is one of those instances I'd prefer to be in the dark like a six-year-old again.

It's great that we have the "Ignore user" feature.
You don't see posts by people you ignore unless someone quotes them.
But it sure would be nice to have "Ignore thread", so we could delete abominations like this one.

Gee Longview, I think I should stay away from the topic of how cubits Ulcers are occasionally treated even today.

As one gets older certain bodily functions slow down. Had one older gentleman get really upset as he usually goes at 3pm every day and came into the ED at 3:45 because he hadn't gone yet.
BTW vesta it is decubitus ulcer.
-
And yes, my mother has similar issues.

Thanks for the correction on my typo.
Ah the joys of getting old, Poor Frank has NO idea what his mother had to face as a Nurse.
Men in general are Sissy's about all this, too much to think about happening to them as they get older.
Easy to understand, woman deal with personal spilling of blood every 28 days and do not die. We woman are the major ones that care for both the young and the old and get use to cleaning up after them.
I want to have some fun with Frank here.
Big city and a homeless man was brought in with ulcers on his calf, flesh dead almost to the bone. The wound had become infested with maggots in the last few days. The staff just wrapped his leg up maggots included and allowed the maggots to eat away the dead flesh to allow new healthy flesh to grow. Calls to the CDC sent new sterile maggots to replace those that died and with little care except for the maggots the dead flesh was replaced with new healthy flesh.
Leaches those nasty bloodsuckers found in fresh water lakes are on hand for some brain surgery where the veins are too small to clamp off.
All these nasty things we wonder what God was thinking when he placed them on earth, every Year we realise it is up to us to find a use for them.
Sorry Frank, I am sure there is more I can turn you green with, Now about tape worms.

Why doesn`t this person just go to a queer bath house with a sign on their back saying "ENTER HERE" and an arrow pointing down under it.
They will get all the fecal transplants they could ever want.

When I originally saw this campfire, I was so startled that I never considered the consquences of bringing it here.
Sorry.
