Made gnocchi for the first time.
Used Mark Bittman's method in the Sunday NY Times magazine - and didn't follow the directions completely.
Used a roasted sweet potato and flour with nutmeg. They came out wonderfully.
Served with salad and a thyme-brown butter sauce, sprinkled liberally with Parmesan.
Need to do it again.

1. Congratulations! And I understand that you will be able to wash it down with a nice glass of wine!

3. You had me at "roasted sweet potato"
sounds wonderful!

4. And really simple -
Ran the potatoes through a ricer so they were nice and fluffy. Seasoned them and then mixed gently with flour.
The proportions are a little loose though - about 8 ounces flour to one largish potato. And Bittman calls for using a white potato mixed with the sweet potato. If I was doing squash gnocchi, I'd do that, but thought I'd try with just the sweet potato(particularly as there wasn't one in the house). And amazingly it worked. Imagine my shock and surprise. Especially considering that I'd NEVER made gnocchi before.

5. I haven't made gnocchi in a long time. In addition to sweet potatoes, I've used yukon gold potatoes too. Very y***y.
Hmmmmm . . . this may just be my weekend project!

Another greenbriar bouncy. "I can afford a subscription to the Sunday NY Times magazine while the rest of you bums are scraping under your couch cushions to pay your light bill."

Dad! Whats gnocchi? Is that like nookie?
-
Yuck. It's nothing more than wallpaper paste. Gulag food.

Dumplings. Only Olive Garden and pretentious assholes call dumplings "gnocchi". It is poor folks' food, but it doesn't have to be pasty.

Well, you can't tell.....but if it smells like fish, don't eat it.

Aw that's terrible not all guys are like that. Me I'd prefer a quiche, maybe a pomegranate iced tea, maybe some mousse for dessert.
Kidding I prefer a steak still mooing.

Me too! I like it so rare it could practically walk off the plate by itself.

Smack the bitch up!

My Mother in Law saw a recipe on Rachel Ray's show, instead of using macaroni to make macaroni salad she made it with gnocchi and it was awesome.

The person who did the cooking says "bitch go grab me another plate of that gnocchi".

Smack the bitch up!
Did anyone notice the only ones who said something masculine are cave women? Anyway...H5 to those ladies here!

The pretentious DUmmy's trophy wife is barely handsome, in a crazy-redhead sort of way. As far as trophies are concerned, I have better-looking bowling trophies.

I was waiting for comments on the aesthetic qualities of the rich old guy's wife.
I on the other hand beg to disagree; she oozes class and style out of every pore.

It can be very tasty, if prepared a certain way. Made it at home a couple of times with the former Mrs. W., a little too labor intensive but still good. Best to have at a nice Italian joint with the proper sauce & accompaniments.

The X-wife had an excellent complex cornbread recipe......god I miss that recipe.

I just saw a picture of them both. He looks like such a self-satisfied, liberal douchebag.

Yeah--he reminds me of Bernie Sanders.

Yeah--he reminds me of Bernie Sanders.
He doesn't strike me as the type who spits, though.
Bernie's dangerous to be around, when he gets righteously indignant.
He spits and sputters a lot; best to have a plexiglass pane between him and oneself.

If said primitive croosed my path on the street, here's what my reaction would be:
