Question about falafel. I made my first batch today--it's in the fridge now.
Later this evening, I'll scoop it into balls and fry it. The recipe says to use 3" of oil to fry them. Can I use a much smaller amount of oil and just pan fry, turning them when they are brown on one side?
Ugly, she with the face like Hindenburg's, is the first to butt in:

1. You can flatten them into mini burgers but they're really best when they're formed into balls and deep fried.
And then the pie-and-jam primitive, who's posting on the internet behind the backs of her guardians.
I suspect the only way to keep addled Judy off the internet is if her children and grandchildren apply a sledge-hammer to the computer.

2. I pan fry them
I flatten them ever so slightly so they will get done sooner, because those are sponges for oil. And I use half olive oil-half vegetable oil for the cooking. They're great!
And finally, one of the lumpenunterprimitiven, part of the faceless lynch mob on Skins's island, a primitive of no distinction or prominence:

3. I pan fry them too
Sure they're not as good, but I prefer less oil.

What is falafel? Sounds like some disease.
If it can't be described as meat, taters, veggies, or salad, I don't eat it.
-
I do a falafel every day.
Push the lever, and it goes round and round, the disappears. :???:
It's kinda like a brown trout you really don't wanna catch.
I think this is why liberals like to use flies, when fishing. :whistling:

Falafels are delicious.
I wouldn't admit that even if I thought so after skul's post.

I just don't believe all these old women are familiar with cooking falafel. I don't think it is hard or anything - it just makes me laugh at how they pretend they are such gourmands.
ETA: Not that falafel is gourmet or anything. It's street food. I just don't think half of them know what all these dishes are.

It's a multicultural thing...probably from watching all those halal non-infadel cooking shows.

I grossed myself out, too.
Whatever that stuff is, I ain't eatin' it now.

They're fritters... they're supposed to be deep-fried.

On purpose??
Well aware of Boulder.

I'm with you, milady. Skul's images were . . . vivid. :pokingpoop:

If DUmmies cook it, it must be FAA-awful.
-
They're middle-eastern hush puppies essentially. They're just chick peas ground together and pan fried.

Falafels are delicious.
Falafel is food from God!

Falafel are pretty good.

Falafel are pretty good.
Only thing we can agree on.
Coke or Pepsi? Pie or Cake?
-
That sandwich looks weird, though. What are those red sticks? It's just a clumsy design. And stems don't belong in a sandwich.
A little falafel goes a long way, just like hush puppies. I like a bite or two, then I'm done.

Rhubarb?

Its not great, that's for sure.
Falafel is essentially deep-fried hummus. Yum-yum.
-
What a waste of a pie crust, or whatever that mess is wrapped in.
Those things in the second photo would be okay, if they were salmon cakes.
-
Stuff even looks like what I thought. :pokingpoop:

Good question, no idea what those are and have never seen those in a falafel sandwich. I think that's a pepperoncini (sp?) with the stem, never seen one of those on a falafel sandwich either.

Pita would be my guess.
