Oh my.

Hate to say this, but I attended my first ever and last spin class this morning.
God, it is so BORING to sit there on a trainer for an hour. Nothing at all like the experience of being out on the trails, in the fresh air and weather, looking at the scenery, concentrating on the asphalt and concrete ahead.
I even bought myself a Kurt Kinetic trainer last fall - it remains in its box in my garage.
I know I should be doing this, to keep the cycling muscle set in shape, but ... I can't take it. It was an hour of boring with ... drum roll please, a movie playing. Not just ANY movie, but 'Three Amigos' with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase ... IMHO a terrible film.
I never could have made it through the whole thing, close to 2 hours.
Hopefully, my work on the treadmill, the elyptical trainer, the ski simulator I have just started using, the step ups, plus lifting will be enough to keep everything working. Plus the Surly ,which isn't getting enough use, I found it is just too damned cold at 10-12-15 degrees to enjoy the ride. So, I expect my first rides in the spring on my Specialized to be on the rough side, not as long as they should be, probably a little more painful afterwards.
OK, rant over, guys.

1. In my experience-
it only takes no more than 2 weeks to get back in decent form. I am in northern WI, so I go through it every year. I have my bike on a trainer, but it mostly sits on the porch--boring!

I've heard Spin Classes described as a lot of things...boring was never one of them.
-
He actually went to a class to learn how to use a Sit 'n Spin.

I had to nadin that.
Isn't Dennis the Menace like, about 45 years too old, to be playing with Playskool stuff?

I was stopped by a cop on my bike ride this afternoon.
Just got back, did my 20, and it's 58 degrees right now.
So, cycling through one of my favorite, enormous subdivisions, and I stopped for water and to take off a layer. This vehicle pulls up along side ... can I ask you a few questions ....
The guy is a cop who lives in the sub, he said he has noticed me riding all the time, and that I've lost a lot of weight (45 lbs) and look good.
He had a lot of questions, he was pretty heavy and said it was imperative he lose a lot of weight, because it is a problem on the job.
So, I told him what I've done, told him he could get a free weeks pass to my gym, and who to talk to if he was interested in joining and/or one of the organized fitness groups or in personal training.
Best traffic stop I ever had.

He says that the spin class was boring but he's probably lying. They probably stuck him on some stationary bike that, while perfectly functioning, was on the low end of the price range. He is accustomed to lavish spending trying to give the impression that he's Mr. Big Stuff and got offended when they stuck him on what he considered a substandard bike.
He probably got stuck on a Spinner Sport which retails for $349.00.
Dennis the Menace needs to find a gym that uses models like the eSpinner which can be bought for $3,9995.00--that might be extravagant enough to soothe the emptiness inside him, for a little while anyway.

Hold on just a sec - isn't this the guy that is so far in the hole on his CC bills that he only opens every 3rd or 4th one? Either he has all of the exercise machines in his basement or he is going to some gym to use them. In either case that is money. Should he either sell the machines or quit the gym and put the money toward his past due CC bills?
If you are in the hole I would suggest walking for your exercise rather than gyms or machines...

I still think Dennis the Menace is planning on maxing out all of his credit cards, and then getting committed to the nuthouse.
I don't imagine credit card companies can do a whole lot about collecting from institutionalized madmen.

With tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt already racked up, the money wasted on this gadget is just a drop in the bucket.
I doubt Dennis has a conscious strategy to dodge his debts by going into an asylum. After all, he is a professionally diagnosed lunatic.
But that's probably what will happen.
