I wonder if the elusive enigmatic Elad finally set something up that automatically excises spam; Skins's island does have a problem with that.
We do too, but we got Chris_ to automatically get rid of spam; we don't need any computer software for it.

2. It is a new feature
When someone with fewer than 100 posts is banned, the software will automatically delete all of their messages posted in the 12 hours before they were banned.
FWIW, the subject line of the post is supposed to say "Message auto-removed" not "Message deleted by DU Administrators" -- that should be corrected sometime today.
One of the Olympian Giants descended from the mountain to give out a tiny present and receive the adulation of their masses in return.

So not only do they disappear the person and the offending truth, they also remove all evidence (in the 12 hour window) of the person's existence.
How tolerant of them.
And Stalin smiles.

It's an improvement on 1984, there they had a department where the employees edited people out of old pictures, newspaper articles &c. now the DUmp has computer software to do it for them...

Yep. Thanks to technology the website site of tolerance, open-mindedness and free-thinking can silence differing opinions and disappear folks not of the hive-mind much more quickly and efficiently.

The masked weasel is confused about this.

6. This is a Meta issue, but the answer is in post 3, above.
I will now lock this with host consensus.
It amuses how they lock and delete everything over there.

3. A new 'housekeeping' task, cleaning up troll droppings

I like it. Troll droppings are unsightly, unsanitary & stink to high heaven. Plus, they've been known to attract more trolls.

This had to be before I wandered over.
The only funny stuff I recall was when Chris_, and few others, post counts dropped to zero for some reason.
I was very new at the time, and still learning. Still am for all practical reasons.

I didn't think the Chris_ Skynet episode had been that long ago.
Imagine this...you go to bed and Conservative Cave is Conservative Cave. When you wake up the next morning Conservative Cave is essentially Chris_ Cave. All of your posts were made by Chris_. All of Freep's posts were made by Chris_. All of my posts were made by Chris_. Everyone's posts were made by Chris_.
What this means is that if one of our lady members had posted that her ovaries were causing problems the morning after the episode it looked as if Chris_ had posted that his ovaries were causing problems.
At first glance it was a 'what the hell???' moment. Then it became funny. Well, except for poor Chris I suppose because he had the headache of fixing it.
I was kind of conflicted at the time because you don't want to laugh when a good guy is having problems, and Chris is a good guy. He's never failed to reply with help any time I've asked anything of him, and I know it had to be a pain to fix things. Still, funny is funny. Chris_ hasn't become the board again so I guess he didn't hold our amusement against us.

Wasn't he using that frog as an avatar at the time? That only made it better.

I didn't help things by changing my avatar to the one that Chris had at the time while he was trying to fix it. :-)
Yeah Chris is a good guy that is why we all give him such a hard time.

This has sort of turned into a Chris appreciation thread.
Does anybody have any dirt on Chris, to even things out a bit?

You heard wrong--it was a ptarmigan, and the knife had a lucky rabbit's foot attached to it.
Chris is a heluva guy. Someone I am proud to call my friend, even if it's only on CC (never met him IRL).

If Chris is in fact human and, he actually is attempting to maintain and operate a British automobile, I question his sanity.

Oh now, it's not that bad. He has his own support group thread in the Around The House & In The Garage forum.

I find that post most entertaining. As a recovering British car addict, I can sympathises and laugh at the same time. Best advice as I recall it "One should not try to maintain a British car unless one has at least 11" fingers".
