Title: I am Shooterman
Post by: Shooterman on January 19, 2013, 11:38:53 AM
Faint heart and all that rot, so here goes. I was invited here by the Queen of Mean ( by some peoples lights ) Miss Teri. Hard to get used to that spelling. I noticed there are several more riff raff on board, Tac, Yuma ( Rebel to me ) Miss Krakka, and maybe a few more I have crossed paths with in other incarnations on various fora. Any immediate friends I may have missed, give me a shout and believe me, it was not intentional.

I am an old man, striving to get much older. In fact, I am so old, dirt was named for me. ( another story for another day )

Politically, I am of the Old Right, when conservatives were the likes of Bob Taft, who was robbed of the nomination in '52 by the New Right ( big eastern liberal PUBS ) led by the likes of Buckley and some of his minions when they stole the nomination and gave it to Ike. I try to be a constitutionalists in every sense of the word, not always succeeding, but still I try.

As I read once on the Mises Institute site. 'Freedom is the Restraint of Government.' If this is true, and I do believe it is, our government is an abject and total failure. The anti-Federalist had it right. They knew the Constitution would become a dried piece of parchment signifying little. Mason, Jefferson, Patrick Henry, the Lees, were all libertarians. Mason, the father of the Bill of Rights, as well as giving many ideas to Jefferson that he incorporated into the Declaration, was probably the greatest statesman of his time, as well as the one that knew more about constitutions than any man. Jefferson, in my estimation, was the finest President we have ever had. None are, have been, or ever will be great. The office was not designed for such.

Having been born and having grown up in Beaumont, TX, I can honestly say it was always a hotbed for Democrats, and there are still many that will vote for DIMS now. I was raised in a Democratic household, and when the DIMS left me, I became a PUB. That was in '64. The PUBS have now left me high and dry, so where I go, who knows? Constitution Party, most probably. In Texas, it matters little.

Hopefully, over a period of time, I will be able to flesh out my ideas. Hopefully, I may learn a few things as well.

Forgot to mention. I served 3 years in the Army from June '58 to April '61. I spent 13 months, 9 days, 14 hours, 23 minutes, and 22 seconds in S Korea ( I really wasn't counting. I gave Uncle Sugar the idiot year, and that is not to denigrate in any way the service of those here that served much longer and/or were lifers. The Draft was still in force and I enlisted rather than get drafted, hence the idiot year.

I have a grandson that left on the sixth of this month, enlisted in the Army, and is now in Fort Jackson, SC for basic training. His immediate younger brother, graduates in May and leaves the tenth of June for the Marines.

Matthew, the oldest, I am not too concerned about, as he goes to Rucker afterwards for Air Traffic Controller training. Reagan is the one I worry about. He is tough enough to make it through boot, ( then armorers school ) but the Clown in Charge, may have us in two or three more unnecessary and undeclared wars before he goes off to live on the Taxpayer's dime for the rest of his unnatural life.

Hi. Welcome. What forums did you all post at?  :cheersmate:

Thanks Ptarmigan- your name is familiar. I now post on four boards, the one where I met Teri first was Conservative Forum, then took her to Where Libert Dwells, where I met Tac, Miss Krakka, Johnny Yuma, and others. I also post on the Conservatives Political Forum.

Disclaimer: ( mods, if this is a no no, please delete the fora names )

I have posted on more forums than I can remember and/or say grace over, always looking for that perfect fora. ( I know there isn't any )

"Queen of Mean"???.... Don't make me have to snatch that wet diaper off and whip you with it now.  :rotf:

Glad you made the trip Shooter and didn't lose a wheel off the walker in the process... *snort* :bwah:  Oh I know...you still have all of your hair and teefs.

You know I love ya, even though you're as old as dirt and knew the baby Jesus personally at the old barn.

Don't go to the adult forum here Shooter...it might give you heart palpitations seeing all of those naked ladies in one spot...  :rotf:

Lot's of great Conservatives here from what I've seen who love God, Guns, Country and the Constitution...what's left of it anyway.  Hope you enjoy it here as much as I have so far.  Have fun, so happy you guys made it over.

If we keep going here, we'll have the entire nativity together..  :rotf:

Welcome to CC.

I've been called many things, Freeper, mostly unflattering, however spammer ain't one of them. Many places don't take kindly to any kind of plug for another forum, so my comment.

Thanks for the welcome.

I like Sam Adams Boston Lager, but I'm not picky...I like anything that'll quench my thirst and give me a mellow buzz.  I'm easy to pleeze. Darn...a real cold one sounds good right now too.

I'd say they broke the mold when they made her, as JFK can only attest.

Misfits, miscreants, ne'er-do-wells, methinks all y'all are welcome.

We do get the occasional troll, and had a spate of them over the holidays, but I think most 'em have gone back to Mommy's basement. But those ain't misfits or miscreants. They're cretins.

When my son was in Navy Boot... he was allowed to call and let me know he had arrived. He was not allowed to use the phone again, until I overnighted his birthday cards 5 weeks later, and the FedEx envelope went to his Chief first. He was called into the Chief's office and told to open envelope while standing there. I had sent a bunch of cards, including from the cats and from a very sarcastic friend who included one that she put bright red lip(stick) prints all over the envelope. My son was mortified. However, the Chief told him to go call his mother, and thank her for giving birth to him! He was allowed 10 minutes and I loved every second of it!! He got periodic phone priviledges the next week. When I met the Chief at Boot Camp graduation, he mentioned the birthday cards.  :-)

I bet old Tac, another of out misfits could tell you plenty of stories. He is a retired Chief.

I would bet there is a world of difference in today's Navy and the Navy my Dad joined in '31. I know there is a world of difference in the Army that has taken place in the last 50 + years since I was in. I couldn't cut it now. Wouldn't pass the physical with my bad knee. In '58, though, it did not matter. A warm body was all that was required.

No doubt!

My mother was a Navy Lt during WWII. And my dad was a Pharmacist's Mate. They met when both were stationed in Hawaii.

My son was on the Lincoln for 3.5 yrs after time in Pensacola in A school and Miramar for C school. He would not have passed the physical for the Army due to a badly broken ankle when he was 19. The ankle almost didn't make it through Navy Boot. He still has trouble with it swelling up and he's 31 now.

Not to get too off conversation here, but when you mentioned his ankle...I know exactly what that's like.  I broke mine years ago and it's never healed right...still swells up on me.  That's why I can't take my long walks anymore too.  I usually wear one of those invisible elastic braces no one can see which help a lot.  Sorry to butt in...just had to say that...LOL

Nothing like the grand babies. My oldest ( one of my daughters has a stepson that is older ) is getting married in March. I have a suspicion his bride will not want to wait too long to have a little one. We're looking forward to it. Actually his Momma is my step daughter, but she has been a part of my life for over 38 years, so she is just like mine, and her babies are my grand kids.

Strange we use to wish one off on her like she was. Little did we know that she could get one that would be a bigger pain in the arse than she. The little blonde is self motivated, very bright and studying ( her first year ) Marine Systems Engineering at Texas A & M- Galveston. Another grand daughter, ( my son's girl ) is also at TAMU this year.

Another one just enlisted. His younger brother goes into the Marines in June, the youngest of those boys is in high school, and the sister is in Junior High. ( these are all my natural daughter's children )

Truly, I be blessed with my babies and grand babies.

Shooterman, I'm in the same boat as CC--welcome, and I'm kinda embarrassed that it took me 5 effin' pages to say that.  Somehow, I think I've seen you on a shooting related board or two . . .

Possibly Saint, but I haven't traveled that route very often. Visited a little gun board that was in Texas for a while, primarily for the politics forum on it. It kind of died when they killed that. More moons ago than I care to remember, I was on America Offline and when they made it plain gun  folks weren't welcome, I bailed. Of course they were down more than they were on anyway. Been around a few fora in my time ( more than I can say grace over ), most, if the truth was to be known, not particularly memorable.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

Well, it's one thing when Mommy's around. It's another when she's not. If Mommy's around.....

When Austin, my oldest grand son was little, I had a lot of time and kept him while his Momma finished her schooling. I changed more that one of his crappy diapers.

On a personal note, my opinion is people should return to using cloth diapers and only use the One Shots if traveling or if there is an emergency. Keeps a lot of extra junk out of the landfills.

Both of my babies used cloth diapers. With Cheryl, we had a diaper service, but we did not have that with Craig, especially in North Carolina.

Dyl has colostomy bags so we have no choice but I agree with you. I prefer cloth and would use it if he pooped the right way.  :lmao:

How long will he have to wear the colostomy bags?

Well, he got reconnected after transplant but last October he had two pinhole perforations that caused a very bad infection. They had to split the intestine and remove about 5 cm for biopses. We were discharged in December so I asked about reconnecting again and the docs said no, because they don't know what caused the perforations.

So to answer you probably not for a few years. Which is okay with me. After about 22 surgeries I'm not in a rush to put him through another one. :)

I understand. I was just curious if it was a life permanent thing or if it would eventually be corrected.

BTW, for any of the good folks here that don't know of the little tykes problems, let me add this. In every picture, you and Dave have posted, the little guy always has a smile. ALWAYS. I find that totally amazing that he has been through so much, but in the pictures I have seen, the smile lights his face up with a warm glow. He is one fortunate little boy to have the Mom and Pop he has, but it appears to This Old Curmudgeon, Mom and Pop are very fortunate to have Dylan.

I would have to bet he comes from strong stock.

Howdy and welcome from another Texas conservative.  I'm from Round Rock/Austin, but not the liberal part of Austin.

You mean there are non-moonbat parts of one of the central moonbat camps in Texas?

We are north of Austin and in Williamson County.  Austin is a part of Travis County and the blue island surrounded by red.

Just to tell you how stupid Austin is, the people there voted to ban plastic bags from stores starting March 1st.
 :thatsright:

Yeah, that's going to solve the problem.  I actually happen to recycle my plastic shopping bags to use for the litter box.  If I lived in Austin, I'd have to buy them instead.  Yeah, that takes care of the problem.
