Now normally in New England at this time of year, it is usually below 20 degrees, with at least a foot of snow on the ground. Today it was hovering at 60!! Yeah 60!! No snow. I am lucky if I have seen 3 inches. I want snow dammnit!! So I can take some nice winter pics!!
-
It didn't get above freezing today and is about 17 now. We had a weird type of snow today, but no accumulation. Instead of flakes it was more like tiny little balls of snow.
-
Friggin cold today, but we are on a warming trend now. If it's gonna be this cold, I want snow!

Usually, cold weather will do that.
Or so I've been told. :-)

Nah. Just a blip. We've already had about a foot total of snow out of the two storms at the end of December and cold. We got a weekend reprieve here with the 60's too. I got in my car this am and it was about 30 out. Back to winter for us. What I've noticed happening in the last couple years here is the bulk of our precipitation comes with a warm front so we have had less snow and more rain. Although we had more snow with those last two storms I mentioned then we did all last winter. It is what it is. We are in a warmer cycle. I'm sure we will have a nice cold cycle in a few years that we can all collectively curse. I should put up a few shots I took when we had the snow on the ground. It certainly was beautiful :)
-
We are having a warm January here in New England, but we have to snow blow and shovel that stuff when it falls as perty as it is when it does.
I'm stayin inside until it at least reaches the sixties and I can sit in the sun here. I'm takin my vitamin D until then. The only appearance I make outside the house in the winter is when I get in the car to go somewhere or to the mail box.
-

There is not one thing normal about Texas winter. It was 70 on Friday, and 21 this am.
-
:lmao: 32 degrees here with a windchill of 19. It was 70 degrees 3 days ago

It got up to 82 this weekend here (Southeast GA). It's supposed to stay in the 70s for a couple more days. Normal temps for January here are high 50s to mid 60s. Its been wonderful being able to wear shorts in January. I HATE cold weather.
-
i think the earth has been tipped on its axis!!

I'm about ready to take my vacation early this year and run down to Tennessee to see my sister. She said it's in the high seventies down there. I really miss baking in the sun next to my pool.
-
17o here, sunny, a total of about 3/4" of snow so far this winter.
BFD.
-
Meh...still got 6-8 inches on the front yard, and while it's nice that all the snow has melted off the roof (although Scoobie may not agree with it dripping on her every time she hits the sliding back door) it's supposed to get back to "normal" (read: highs in upper 30's, lows in single digits) by the end of the week or early next.
-
Had a real nice ice storm on Saturday night. I knew we were in trouble when we got out of the movie theater and I encountered a quarter inch of ice on the car.
In slipping and sliding our way north to the tune of about 40 miles, I saw several cars off the road, in the median, and places where they shouldn't have been. :o
It normally takes about 35 minutes to get home from town, but it took more than an hour on Sat. night. Better safe than sorry....
Checked out the condition of the road Sunday morning. Solid sheet of ice, but the sun came out the rest of the day and melted quite a bit, though it's still dangerous.
-
Yeah, snow I can handle no trouble.
Ice? Not so much. 'Specially with all those really cool hills and curves they have on the Spaulding.

It was in the 70s... now it's about 30 degrees. I would say you missed a nice weekend, but it rained like crazy the entire time.

I live in a part of the country that features a lotta guys and a lotta pickup trucks.
These were the yahoos wheeling past me heading home and one or two of 'em I might've seen spun off into the median.
I laughed as I slowly drove past 'em.

One summer we had a water shortage, no watering lawns or yards. People were sneaking out to put dripper hoses in their gardens. very low snow fall to melt and add to the water supply.
How goes the winter, goes the rest of the year, snow fall melting brings in the summers water.
It is today at 1 pm. next door to you and the temperature is at 54 degrees, My back deck is so warm I could go out and sunbath naked on it and not worry about a sun burn. Just tan under low rays. Lots of Vit. D.
My Daddy spent 20 + years as a diver in the USN and as far back as when I was a kid he could see changes coming on in the corral in Fla. Temp. shifts in the water and the odd changes to corral that was dieing out.
At one time he took me out on the lawn by the river and told me that my ascendants would plant orange trees on the property, in Maine. He as most divers that follow the seas saw the changes that were coming our way. One of these [watch what happens in the seas and rivers to know how it will affect life on land.]
So today Sea we have weather that may jump start my roses, give a jolt to my Oak trees, then go away and what damage have they done--plenty.
I dug out some old pix from the 1940's that show huge snow banks up to the 2 floor of houses. I tracked the years to find the more snow the more bountiful harvest the next summer.
Old time saying was to take the first harvest of hay before July 4,th. Heck today we are lucky to get that first harvest before fall.
We have to adjust to Mother earth, go with what ever she brings in and survive around her laws.

It's friggin 60 degrees here in Massachusetts today! I've got the windows open, fresh air and curtains blowin in the breeze. I know it won't last long, but I'm certainly enjoying this today.
-
It's mid- to upper-40s here today. It's supposed to get right back down to seasonable levels by Thursday. Almost all of the snow has melted.
More will replace it.

78 yesterday(Sunday) and 74 right now today.......furnace hasn't been on in 3 days.... :-)

Was near or over 70's Friday thru Sunday. In the 40's yesteday, today in the 30's....ight now it's 40 with a chill temp of 33.
It's been raining for DAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYS!!
School closing list is expanding. It was mostly for flooding but sleet areas are increasing between here and Nashville....we're supposed to get another inch of rain today. :panic:

I'm thinking about investing into a good sun lamp, tropical wall mural and some plastic palm trees. Toss a good lounge chair and some ocean wave music and wala...you're on a secluded tropical beach until the hubby yells down the basement stairs for his supper.
-
At 4 AM got up to walk the dogs -- all three of them -- for 40 minutes. :p
The temp was a frigid 9 deg. F. The dogs didn't seem to mind, but I think I heard a distinct clinking sound as they peed. The stuff was freezing before it hit the ground.
-
I believe they have sleet there now.
OK. That's a good reason, depending on the section of the counry.
25o here now, but next Monday the highs go to about 5o maximum, lows below 0o.
At least that's what they say now. But we all know they can't find their own asses with both hands.

I had Thundersnowpellets in my morning. Looked like dippin dots ice cream.
Got to work before the stuff had a chance to freeze, now we are sitting right on 32 degrees, so I may have a funtimes commute on my way home.

Oh yeah, I've seen it happen...guys tear-assing past me on the Spaulding/I-95 transition, then getting loose, doing a couple spins, and getting slammed into the guardrail.
Can't say it ever surprises me who does it and when.

Ditto here, and we are getting 5-8 as I type this now. No school in most of MA today.

We had an ice storm here. Streets are slick and people are driving really fast. :mental: makes no sense, pretty sure they don't have insurance too :whatever:

It's been all snow here since it started, but because it was SLIGHTLY above freezing, the initial snow melted, then froze on the roads, make getting into work this morning 45 miles of pure hell. Almost two hours to get into work, and I stopped counting how many times I fishtailed the Jeep. I had at least 3-4 people wreck/lose it AS I WATCHED, to say nothing of all the cars on the side of the road, pinballing at intersections/lights/etc.
This would have been one of those days where it would have been a DAMN good idea to pretreat the roads, but noooooooooo...
Scoobie got the word earlier not to bother trying to go into Danvers, and as soon as I saw the guy behind me spin out and take out the center guardrail on the Spaulding, I told her there's no way she should even THINK about going in today and work from home. She hemmed and hawwed, but as soon as she saw what the street was like when she put the kids on the bus (no, they did NOT cancel school here in a lot of towns) she agreed. Girl child slipped and busted her ass just crossing the road for the bus, and was 25 minutes late for the boy child. According to Scoobs, it's pretty impressive watching a school bus doing a Tokyo Drift down the hill trying to stop.
I want to dickpunch the idiot who thought it'd be a good idea to have school today. They better get an early release, because trying to clear the roads when it has this crap AND another 6 inches of snow on top of it is gonna suck. Getting home this afternoon is gonna be HI-larious.

I got one of the bitching phone calls today from Mom who had a great point to make.
Seems her neighbors came home an hour ago from Conn. to Maine, called to check on her and told her about their interesting ride, usually 2 1/2 hours, today took twice that.
Complaint was in the 4 states they went through they only say ONE State Plow on the interstates, just One.
Seems the neighbor was very worried about this as the States are running out of money. Time for me to wise crack about Obama and if they voted for him ---why worry, he will fix things.
Poor Mom a die hard Democrat that now at 91 years has to rethink her whole life, she was not amused.
This reminds me of a January early morning and a freak snow and ice storm in Tenn. I had an early morning flight to go home for an emergency. I lived in the boonies of Lewisville and the airport in Nashville was 50 miles north.
One hell of a ride just getting to the main road, then it was a surprise to me to find well plowed roads that came to a sudden stop and no plowing at all. I was told that the wealthy counties had the money to plow, the poor counties did not.
We finally got to Nashville and the roads were clear and no delay in take off time. Then I got to Atlanta and a 6 hour layover as they had few equipment to clear the runways. Not from lack of money but lack of equipment that was seldom used.
As I look out my window today I see that the highway has finally been plowed, traffic is moving along at a smart 25 mph it seems, half the speed limit.
Oh and Frank, MY Scanner is on today, no I do not NEED one but when Hubby is ready to come home from work I can advise him on the rout to take that is safest.

There's a good 5-6 inches out there already, and the snow is still coming down HARD. Roads haven't been touched in over 3 hours. School never let out early. I will be worried sick until my little ones are safely back in the house.
-
We've had snow on the ground here since Thanksgiving. Monday it is supposed to get down to sub zero temps for a few days.
Going to be some great ice fishing next weekend.

Right at freezing, sunny, and slightly windy here.

35 and sunny today. :)

35 and sunny today. :)

Outside of about 10 minutes last Saturday afternoon, we haven't seen sun in what seems like forever!!
All the counties around us closed schools today. Not for snow or ice, but because of the rain. As of the 6pm news last night we had had 5.5 inches of rain since Sunday night. It was still raining at the time. It rained from steady to hard all night. It's not raining now and hasn't for a couple of hours but is supposed to start back up at any time. Turning to snow tomorrow - maybe.
TVA has stopped river traffic due to the water levels and currents.

it's raining again... need to go work on the ark.
-
We got about three inches of heavy wet snow yesterday. Everything was cancelled around here. Now I'm way behind in my work.
Wall to wall today with doctor's appointments and errands to run. Dang weather...I can't wait until it warms up again.
-
Warm is relative. January in NH, 40 is warm. Meh. I'll do my usual chipping of the driveway come March or so, and until then, just throw down some sand after I blow out the driveway as best I can.
-
After over 7.5 inches of rain between Sunday evening and yesterday morning...horrendous downpours most of morning and early afternoon ... the rain switched to super heavy snow. :thatsright:
We got about 3-4" at my house, but it was really weird. Very inconsistent all over town. Went to work at 8, where only about half showed up. Worked until 6am because I was hoping it would be safer than at 4. Took soaking my car key in hot water to get the car door unlocked, along with that antifreeze spray stuff and pouring hot water along the door seam. There were 4 of us trying to get into our cars at the same time. Parking lot was solid ice. It was like a bad comedy routine. Made it home ok going a different way with more level roads. Took a running charge up the drive and slid into a flat park....then very carefully made it across the ice rink formerly known as my driveway.
Sun is shining :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: supposed to get to 44 and melt the ice.
I"m going to bed. :yahoo:

32o here, partly coudy.

Did you not see my post before you went up to Gatlinburg to let me know when you would be in the area?
I'm all of about 3 minutes from the West Hills exit in west Knox.

Supposed to be a really nice weekend. Highs in the 60's and sunny both days. Perfect to walk 9 miles tomorrow. Woot!

I loved to take long morning walks until I broke my ankle and it never healed back right. I use my Nordic track bike now. When the weather warms up again...I can take my morning swim in the pool. This weather just sucks and I can't wait until Spring gets here...counting down the days.

Got super foggy last night, but it's burning off, and there's this weird light out..... sunlight!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Snow still around in spots, supposedly some roads in the county are still really icy. Rooftops in the neighborhood are still snow covered. Going to be in mid50's today! Might melt the snow, but it's going to take a month to dry out the ground. Last night's news said we had over 8 inches of rain between Sunday evening and the snow started. That means almost 3 inches of rain fell on Thursday morning - early afternoon. Might take more than a month to dry out.... :whatever:

Just think about how beautiful your flowers will be in the Spring with all of that rain. We have the same mushy, dismal stuff here too. The sun is trying to pop out though. About three more months and I'll be sitting on my back deck baking in the sun again, four months and I can open the pool...can't wait.

High 30's/low 40's today and tomorrow, and then the freeze commences.
Highs here Tue-Thu in the single digits, lows approaching -10, wind chills hitting -20.
Then again, I showed Scoobie the weather for Pittsburg (our pipe dream retirement town) and it's going to be -10.
FOR THEIR HIGH temp. -30 at night.
And then, of course, is Mount Washington. High Wednesday? -25. Low of -30. Wind chills approaching -60.
Now think--there are PEOPLE up there as we speak.
-
It was really cold last night and tonight too. I've got my lil room heater on by my desk here in the livingroom and my fuzzy blanket over my legs.
-
13o F here now and falling. Highs near 0o F for the next 2 days.
-
I was turning on the SF/ATL game and couldn't find Scoobie--look outside, and there she is, scooping the slush out of the driveway, sore shoulder and all, damn her stubbornness.
But it was warm enough doing the entire driveway wasn't terribly difficult, and here we sit, waiting for the arctic blast to arrive.
-
It's about 24 with a light snow falling. It was sunny and in the 40's yesterday.
-
Was mid-50s a few hours ago. Now mid-20's. Snow coming.
So is the arctic blast.
-
10o F here, some snow (~2"), the first of this winter, but MAYBE enough for me to plow my neighbor's driveway and make some ca$h.
-
Sunny and cold this morning, only 18. Nothing left of the little bit of snow from last night.
-
Today's high -8 with -45 wind chill.
What am I a penguin?

Well, that depends if you've got a tuxedo or not.
Gotta tux? If so, you just may be a penguin. :-)

It's climbed all the way up to 6oF. And my neighbor wanted me to plow his driveway, so that's $25 in my pocket.
I also did our 600'+ driveway.

Where the heck are you?????

Sun's out!! Again!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Super cold - for us - is coming in tonight. Supposed to be 18 tonight and 14 tomorrow night. :brrr:
Wind is blowing now, but don't know if it's supposed to continue. It's 44 right now with a chill of 37.
No rain/snow in forecast until Friday, and they haven't yet decided which it will be.....the weather people like to keep their options open. :whistling:
-
18º tonight. Gonna be cold!

Problem with being down south, 18 is bitter cold for here. We rarely get weather that cold, and we are cold weather wusses. :panic:

Only for prom
That's a relief. For a second there I thought you said "pron."
Oh, wait.........
-
Going down to 7 degrees tomorrow night. We just got a dusting of snow...I it's going to be around 8 degrees tonight... I've got my fuzzy slippers on and my fuzzy blanket. One of my shows just ended and I'm taking a break here, but Being Human is recording now, so I'm giving it some time so I can skip through the commercials...
Ewe...stay warm everyone up north...January and February are our coldest months around here. This weather really sucks, but at least it'll kill off some bugs.

$85 to replace the Carhartt my cat ruined.
At least it's warm.

Chris, it's not ruined...use the White Vinegar like I said...it will take the cat urine out completely. This is what you do... take about 1 cup of white vinegar only and run the jacket through the hottest wash cycle... Don't add any detergent on the first wash. Let that cycle finish and then run the jacket through another cycle with detergent and softner. That should take it all out, but if it doesn't...repeat the process again. It will fix the problem. I know, I have five cats and on occasion if one gets sick, they do go where they're not suppose to. It will work. :)
-
Therte's a thief in the area. There are no degrees this morning.
-
Remember that 8-12 inches of snow we were supposed to get last night and this morning?
SURPRISE!!!
You could have dusted off the driveway with a leaf this morning. It's also sunshine and minimal clouds.

It has been in the 60's here in the Denver area, very dry for this time of the year. No snow or rain anywhere in sight!

I saw these temps moving east last week. Knew they'd hit sometime this week. I've cancelled my appts today...I ain't goin outside in this kind of crap if I don't have to. I can already feel the temp in the house dropping even though I've got the heat set at 72. I cranked up the humidifier on the furnace too, that helped some.
-
26* with 21* chill temp. Sunny and no wind whatsoever.
Yippee to the sun!! :yahoo:
Winds are coming in this afternoon and temps will be going down. But it's ok cause I don't have to work tonight and can stay home bundled under the blankies with the fireplace! :yahoo:

Sounds like a good place to be too. I'll have my lil foot heater on and my fuzzy blanket. :)

Remember that 8-12 inches of snow we were supposed to get last night and this morning?
SURPRISE!!!
You could have dusted off the driveway with a leaf this morning. It's also sunshine and minimal clouds.
And my shoulder breathes a heavy sigh of relief.

Wha-wha-wha-WHAT???
Who was up at 4 am checking outside to ensure there was in fact no snow?
Besides, we still have another storm coming in Friday, my love.

14oF, cloudy here.

Noontime high, just in time for a picnic, is -6. Oy. If we can slog through this week all bundled up, next week should feel downright Spring-like, at low 30's! Hurray, haul out the sundresses!
-
Sunny and 28 today, shorts and T-shirt weather compared to the last few days.
-
Went out this morning at 4 AM with the dogs and did the cemetery/1.6 mile circuit. A balmy 19 deg. F. No wind. Not bad, actually. Rather enjoyed it.

Sun's out again today and it's 39 with no wind. :yahoo:

Freezing rain falls as rain but freezes pretty much on contact with the ground, trees, and streets. Sleet falls as frozen little pellets that bounce around.
We're forecast to have a wintry mix starting tomorrow night.

14 degrees here too, Teri. Stay warm!!!!

-5 at the house this morning. -2 when I got to work. Nice and breezy (-20 w/c.)
And I've been out in it a good chunk of the day so far. FML.

Warmest here in several days. 17oF, partly sunny, but colder air is supposed to move in, then warm again, then snow next week.
Of course, the weather prognosticators can't find their own asses with both hands.....
In any case, my tractor's tire chains are now installed.

Nothing happened last night. :yahoo:
Sun's out in the 30's but the chill is 23....
Bad stuff coming in sometime early morning.

It is up to 14 degrees now, was -1 early morning.
Mom called to tell me about the Canadian Geese problem for her on the river front.
Big suckers and a huge flock has descended to winter on her front yard. Every year the flock gets larger, and watching them feed in mild weather is a hoot. One will stand guard as the flock picks about in the lawn for what ever they eat and after a time another Goose will come to relieve the guard so they can eat.
Last few days with the ground frozen the Geese are going hungry, they have hunkered down on the lawn and Mom swears she counted 80 of them----they spread out to two other yards on both sides of her.
Mother is having fits, she sees few Sea Gulls or Shit Pokes on the river and wonders how the crows can survive in this weather. Not a good time for man nor beast.
I tried to tell her to use the air horn to get the Geese off the lawn but she feels too sorry for them. Come spring she will be up to her ankles in Goose shit and a few rare diseases.
Any one here know anything about these birds and if they are in your area ????
-
Canada geese migrate, but not real well as they're still where there's NO FOOD. (Kinda like nomadic tribes in the Sahara that are starving - if they'd move to where the FOOD is, they wouldn't starve.)
(I stole that from Sam Kinison).
They're protected birds under a 1918 federal law, so you can't shoot 'em.
But send a dog out there to roust 'em. A big honkin' dog.

Heat wave today - 20oF.

It's a balmy 35°. Practically spring-like.

Never mind. Nothing to see here. Move along.....

The problem is, and Scoobs is right, is that the weather forecasters here SUCK. I mean they couldn't be more wrong kind of suck.
Case in point--a couple of weeks ago, we got a warning huge snow was coming our way, 12-18 inches. Couple of hours later, it was 8-12, then 4-6, then 3-5. We ended up with NADA. Zip. Nothing.
Going on seven years here, and I've yet to see a storm turn out nearly as bad as predicted, with the possible exception of the ice storm at the end of 2008. That one sucked.
-

It's the same way here on the left coast. The only time I ever saw accurate reports was when I lived in Colorado one winter.
They had predicted a heavy snow and there wasn't even a cloud in the sky. I scoffed and went to bed. Woke up the next morning, opened the shades and the snow had piled up half way up the window panes and we couldn't get out the front door. I was shocked and took them at their word after that.

Thanks, Deb. Feeling slightly more human today. Last night was rough, though.
And yeah, I completely understand the concern...believe me, we've been going back and forth about "do we go" or "do we stay". I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a pretty significant snowfall with this one at home. Where we're going, though, it shouldn't be quite as bad, so very little chance of getting snowbound there, at least. We've got our bases covered at home, with neighbors on standby just in case. Mom and the kids would be disappointed if we didn't go at this point (they have big plans while we're away.)

Then go and enjoy yourselves!! You all are living in a "full house" and need some Scoobs & Sparks time! What's the worst thing that could happen, provided you can get where you are going and back safely on the roads? Especially since the neighbors are willing to look out for your Mom and the kids? You get snowed in for another day? :naughty:

<bumped> for the predicted "3 to 6 inches of snow" we were supposed to get yesterday/last night/today.
3 to 6 inches my biglillywhiteass. There's a good foot of new snow out there. :censored:
I'll take pushmowing the yard/landscaping/gardening ANY DAY to shovelling/snowblowing/then shovelling again the driveway.
-
And I got the look of, "Pick that snow shovel up and it'll be the last thing you EVER do" from Scoobs.
Her mother didn't even want me going up/down the stairs to the basement/garage. Yeah, this is one of those days I should have been out there, not her.
I am teh suckage as a boyfriend.

No you aren't !!
Years and years ago, M was at the house (before we were living together) on a Saturday. He had told me he had back problems some times, but to me there are backaches and then there are backs that do things like yours just did. I had never seen anyone do what yours has done.
On this particular Saturday, I sent my son out to mow the yard and he couldn't get the lawn mower started. M being the nice, helpful boyfriend goes out to start it. A couple of pulls and the thing started. Problem solved for the lawnmower.
Not for M. He came in with a weird look on his face, I being the good girlfriend asked what the problem was. He said he "tweaked the back, a bit". I was like, ok, want some Advil? He said yes and we went out to lunch. Little did I know at that time what a "tweak" was....
Late afternoon, he said his back was hurting more, and he laid down on the family room floor.
He was there for the next 5 days!!!
I did not know it was possible for a person's hips to go one direction and a cant that way, the shoulders go opposite and cant another way, and the whole upper body twist!
Bless his heart, I even had to help him into the bathroom. He couldn't even pull his pants back up. Got him into the chiropractor on Monday and Tuesday, and he went back to work on Wednesday. He went to the chiro everyday for a week until he could move without pain.
Whatever his problem is, it's at his waist, primarily from the spine to the left. It all started after playing racquetball about 30 years ago. He had played a couple of games, showered and was starting to get dressed. He bent over to put on his boxers and got stuck. He was at an athletic club in downtown Cincy when it happened and the only other person around was a little, much older man, who he didn't know but had to ask him for help, just to get dressed.
I totally agree with Scoobs. I too, have made similar threats over the years. It's much more difficult to watch you guys in excruciating pain, than to do something ourselves that you guys consider to be a "man's job"....
Behave and do what you are supposed to do to get better. We like you mens healthy!!

We're supposed to get 3" to 7" tonight and tomorrow morning.
I'll believe it when I see the 6" of partly cloudy in my driveway.

My back first went out when I was all of 13 years old, while playing baseball - batting, actually.
I've had tons of "episodes" since then.
What pisses me off is the uncertainty of it all. Sometimes I can bend down and pick up a relatively light suitcase and be on my back for 3 days. Other times I can shovel a shitload of snow and not have my back hurt -- much.
If I knew that if I did "x" my back would scream at me for 3 days, I probably wouldn't do "x". But it's so hit-and-miss.

When I was 11, a neighborhood kid thought that it was funny to take a running knee dive into my back as I say on the ground. It hurt bad for several days and then went away. Since then, it can return in a similar manner as your back pain. I had my last episode ~17 years ago. I went to a chiropractor and learned a few tricks to keep it away. Thus far so good but, I'm on borrowed time.

I lift, carry and put on racks buckets of wire that weigh up to 100 pounds and most of the time it doesn't bother me. OTOH , I could bend and pick up an ink pen and twist wrong and throw my lower back out.

M's is the same way. I've seen him lift really heavy stuff, no problem. Also have watched him take a jug of milk out of the grocery cart, to put in the car, and it will go. :(

I've learned that the angle of my back has at least as much to do with whether it goes out or not, as how much I'm lifting. Maybe more.

I noticed that it was potentially bad out there, so I plowed about 3" of extremely heavy wet snow/slush in our driveway this morning, and when I plowed my 91 year-old neighbor's driveway, he came out and paid me the $115 for what I've done so far this year on his driveway. And the damned township plowed all the snow from the street into our driveway (the plow collects all the snow and dumps it on the curve at our driveway. The driver needs to go to snowplow driver's school. This was all taken care of for the last 4 years, but now it's time to have another "discussion" with the supervisor).

We hit 80 today.

Spring is just 2 & 1/2 weeks away. :-)

The snow's been upped to 7" - 12".
Bring it on! :snowblower:

No snow overnight. Nada.
But now it's begun. We'll see what happens...
-
We've got a steady snow falling but it's tiny flakes.
-
It's snowing hard here. About 4" on the ground in 4 hours.
-
We've had 1.5 inches of rain today. More coming with high winds - 40mph - and thunder, then turning to snow.
Figures....daffodils are blooming all over the place.... :(

We got a pounding around lunchtime. It just left the area about an hour ago.

2" on the ground. it's the wet and heavy stuff.
-
Just came in from plowing 7" of heavy, wet shit all over the driveway. Ploed 3 times today to keep up with it.
Now it's a mixture of rainy mist and sleet.
-
Plowed another time this morning. Things drifted over in a few places. Got some new snow late last night, for a total of about 8".
-
We didn't get a lot. The roads are mostly clear, and the grass isn't even fully covered.

The time for us to get it has shifted to Thursday night (an inch) into Friday and Friday evening/night. We're supposed to get a total of 3 to 6 inches out of it.

No snow here, but we had gusts of up to 50 mph in NC. And the crazy loadies of a few C-130's were dropping CDS bundles by parachute. Can you say, 'bad landing?' I knew that you could!

This latest snow spasm dropped 4 to 5 inches on the 'hood, and it's heavy and wet. The Heiress is delayed 2 hours, and I already have a chiropractic appointment scheduled for this morning.

Weather man forcasts wopper, forced to take a "time out". Wash workers get to take an extra day off. Who pays? We all pay! Free time off in DC is the rule rather than the exception for weather events.
During the Blizzard of '78 the facility I worked at gave everyone who was unable to report to work 'admin leave' which resulted in those who did make it to work getting "The golden shovel" award, in other words, "thanks for coming in now get to work" while everyone else has a day on the beach for free. Guess what happened the next time there was a big storm predicted.
-
And when we're predicted to only get a few flakes but it becomes "make your own lane day" on the Spaulding and I-95? Yeah, that was a real hoot this morning.
And STILL coming down.
-
Today's the first time I saw the sun in about a month, or thereabouts. Supposed to get t0 42 with sun today, 45 with "wintery mix" tomorrow, 45 and rain on Sunday.
Perfect......we're going up to Wisconsin on Sunday.
-
High of 68º Saturday and Sunday. Today is suposed to get into the 50s.
It's about time.

We got about one inch more after I posted, but it's all going to melt today and tomorrow. Just more nitrogen for the soil (yes, thinking about gardening already!). O-)
ETA: We lost a lot of snow yesterday. The amount that Saratoga Springs got was maybe 2 to 3 inches less than us, from what I could gather.

March is suppose to come in like a Lion and go out as a Lamb.
Here I was all fixing to bring out a bag of wild flowers seeds to rest in the grass for a month or so to come up the end of April.
Rose bushes need to be trimmed down, rats will not do that in the snow. No problem by the weekend the snow will have melted and temperatures in high 40's in this crazy weather.
Planting vegetables will have to wait until the green houses get them up about 4-5 inches for transplant.
This year I go to the greenhouses, no more buying plants at the grocery stores that are half dead sitting outside on racks and not watered.
Spring yes spring, with a snow storm on the way it is still calling me to get out and dig in the dirt, wait for the first mowing of the lawn and the wonderful smell of first mowed grass. I understand why horses out of the barn in the spring roll about, been times I wanted to do this myself.

I envious of all the snow you all are getting. We would take it in a heartbeat.
