This was a video the City of Houston released to teach people to respond to an "active shooter" in the workplace. It was produced with federal grants and was released in August.
Notice how quickly the gunman takes out the (armed) security guard. First one he goes for.
Notice that fighting back was considered the action of last resort. First and second resorts were to run (get outside) or hide. Fighting should only be considered a last resort.
Tabby, tabby, tabby.... Yeah, if you can get outside, do so, and call 911. However, in the case of Newtown, they were a bunch of innocent kids, and Lanza was blocking them in via standing in front of the door. Had the teacher(s) had a gun...problem solved. While it may be OK to hide, it ain't the best option. Remember Harris, and Klebold in the library? Yeah, they just peeked under desks, said "Peek-a-boo" or something to that effect, and blew them the **** away! Furthermore, did you see the chick in the video who closed the door, and put her BODY against it? Bad idea, buddy. I wouldn't suggesst you try it if found in the same situation. In summary, the only option is to FIGHT! I don't suggest using your hands against someone with a semi automatic. Let alone anything more powerful. You can if you want, but it's you're funeral, as they say. That is TRULY a last resort.
Suffice it to say, arm you teachers. It could be over in minutes, and everyone will be safe. That is, everyone but the shooter. Arm teachers. Pay no mind to shitty, poorly thought out PSA's from idiot liberal cities. Period.

Hey, liberals and other mentally ill gun-o-phobes:
Make the Capitol, the White House, and the Supreme Court Building "Gun-Free Zones".....and then we'll talk. Until then, let's do away with the concept all together.

Hey, liberals and other mentally ill gun-o-phobes:
Hoplophobes is the correct term.
Hoplophobia is the fear of guns (and other weapons).
-
I'm to old to run, to stiff to hide behind stuff and to weak to go one on one physically with a shooter.....but my trigger finger still works just as well as his.....a weapon is a great equalizer.
-
Wait this is in Texas? Half the people in that office will be concealed carriers.

You are invaluable.

If the feds paid for it then you know it's a useless waste of money.

It's a dramatization. Had it been realistic it would should the shooter passing-up an NRA meeting, a gun show and a gun range to find a gun-free zone.
Notice that fighting back was considered the action of last resort.
But you're working to make it no resort, no choice, no option, no hope.
We don't have time to wait for the police to stop clubbing hippies long enough to save us.
BTW -- the last time a security guard was shot first as part of a rampage shooting is when one of your fag-rights activists, Floyd Corkins, tried to shoot-up the Family Research Council. Violence was the first resort and your comrade was shut down hard and fast before he could actually kill anyone.

So was duck and cover during the cold war.
