My younger sister and her family has been staunchly Romney until she was dx with Breast Cancer today
I am sure that her husband is the one saying his family will vote for Romney becuase of that uppity #%R$! W#R$ in the white house. You know the kind that would have the sticker saying put the white back in the white house....
She and I just got off the phone and now because of her very scary diagnosis today called to ask about Obamacare and what it would mean for her. I gave her the facts and the best one...no one can refuse you insurance because you are now a pre-existing condition person. She is now in Obama's camp and is working on her family.
It is quite ironic because for years they used food stamps, had two babies using a medical card while they worked two shit jobs each just to make it. Then about 4 years ago, they moved to Missouri, are renting to own a really nice home. He has had the same great paying job from then on and she is in nursing school (on a pell grant) and only working one job in the same hospital that is helping her courses.
Their oldest son, got married and they had a baby on a medical card and got WIC ect.
They had said they couldn't afford another 4 more years like the last four. I pointed out how much better off they were the last 4 years and they wouldn't listen.
TILL today. She called me in tears and said she didn't know what she was going to do. I pointed out some provisions in Obama care that will be taylor made for their situation and she said "we got to keep him in then cause I will need this"
DUHHHH
I love her so much, she is my baby sister but it is sad that bad news like that is what has changed her mind of who to vote for. Never mind, that I have told her how Obama Care has been a blessing to me and my family, I guess it takes things to
"hit home" before they wanted to consider it.
Sad thing is, it has already hit home ME and my disease. If insurance had their way I would already be dead. The Crohn's Chemo I take is 3,000 a pop every six weeks and after 3 years it is no longer effective and we are now starting to document to make the switch to a new drug. With out the insurance provisions of No lifetime limit I would have already had to stop and very likely have been dead. She knows this but didn't care.
Now that it is her suddenly it isn't a "socialist program" it is somehting important for people.

27. thanx for your story
and all best for your family.
Some people only learn by bitter experience. Now maybe your sister can get away from the damaging effect of being exposed to lies and delusional hate speak. I really think it adds to the kind of stress that can make one vulnerable to cancer and other disease.
In other words she better stay clear of Pam and DU. They specialize in delusion, lies, and hate speak.

Good bouncy.

Yeah, wait until her sister's case gets reviewed by the IPAB, and they rule against her.

And the worst part is they'll rule against her due to the family history. Look at the absolute health-train wreck her older sibling is. :hammer:

Yep, you can get health insurance DUmmie and DUmmie sister........BUT YOU GOT TO PAY FOR IT.

Going to Pam for facts about anything just seems to be similar to going to my cat for information about astrophysics.

And with a pre-existing condition be prepared to pay dearly for it. They may be required to allow you in but the prices aren't fixed.

You would stand a better chance with the cat.

You would stand a better chance with the cat.
Probably.
I did have to ban the cat from my computer room. It got to the point that every time I pulled something up from DemocratUnderground.com that the cat would roll around laughing and pointing at the computer screen. It was annoying.

How many more Republican stereotypes and miraculous conversions could demtenjeep possibly squeeze in?
Do the DUmmies, excuse me, the members of the Democrat Party that post at DemocratUnderground.com, really believe that no Republican, anywhere, has gone through any kind of hardship or else they'd break down in complete shambles, and become total socialists because they have no fortitude at all? Hmm, do I sense projection there?

She even got in a reference to her gut rot.
Pam is just sooo DUmb, she can't come close to a good bouncy tale.
Her writing is so stupid, it makes me think of rsmithnumbers, or even stevenumbers.

Yours too, eh? Oreo would sit in front of the monitor, afraid that I'd laugh my ass off, to death. She wants to preserve Top Cat.

You know, I wish Pamela's insurance company would have their way.
It'd be a release for her.

Well, if your cat's name is Pixel, and is too young to know that such things are impossible...

48. The "pre-existing conditions" provisions don't kick in until 2014 for adults.

Children were protected immediately.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

She is a public employee with cadillac insurance/premium splits the regular middle class folks could never even hope to obtain -- all in place prior to Obamacare. There is no way she would "have to stop."

One of the women, who worked at the plant Bain closed down, said she was for Romney until she lost her job.
Ummmm...yeah.
Romney resigned from Bain Capital in February 1999, to manage the Olympics. Either the DUmmy's mythical woman supported Mitt Romney for President eight years before he ran for president the first time, then changed her mind; or she blamed Romney for something that happened twelve years after he left Bain.

From Sybilll posted somewhere else for the members of the Democrat Party that post at DemocratUnderground.com
http://grouchatrighttruth.blogspot.com/2012/10/death-panels-are-here.html?spref=tw
Today while working my shift in the emergency room, an old lady was brought in very sick and in fact near death. I did my usual workup and evaluation and attempted to administer life saving treatment. It was my plan to admit this woman to the hospital. I found out a little later that this same woman had been a patient here just slightly more than 2 weeks ago with a DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. I was told that if this woman was admitted, the hospital would not be paid.
The new Medicare rule now is that if the same Medicare patient is re-admitted to the hospital within 30 days, the hospital will not be paid. When they first started this nonsense they said this only applied to patients with the same diagnosis. Now they have "expanded" the rule to include re-admissions for any reason. So if you're in the hospital for pneumonia, and 3 weeks later, you break your leg.......too bad. Medicare will not pay the hospital to fix your leg.
A little later a man was brought in by ambulance, very sick, in pain, and near death. I did my usual evaluation and treatment, doing my best to ease pain and stabilize this man's illness. He needed to be admitted. To my chagrin I found out that he had been treated for the SAME problem at a DIFFERENT HOSPITAL about 10 days prior. If I admitted this man, our hospital would be paid nothing. I admitted the man.
My friends I am caught in a terrible position. I could have given treatment to both of these people and sent them out. There is no doubt that both of them would have died. Oh, I could also be sued for malpractice, but nobody cares about that. That's why we have insurance, right?
My other choice is to admit the person, knowing full well that the hospital will have to absorb the cost of care without hope of remuneration.
This is the climate we as healthcare providers find ourselves in today. How many small and struggling hospitals will survive under such ludicrous payment schemes? Indeed many facilities will close their doors. Many doctors will retire early or simply go do something else. As more and more are added to the Obamacare rolls, there will be less and less access. People will get sicker and yes, people will die because of it.
I had a sick and sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach today after both of these incidents. We have a good hospital. Our nurses, technicians, and support staff work very hard and they deserve to be paid for their efforts. I am not so worried about myself as I am near retirement, but I worry for all the younger folks in the healthcare business and I worry about our seniors who are in the long run going to be sacrificed as the government implements cost cutting shenanigans to cover up their broken promise made way back in 1964.
Folks, this is a nightmare!

The DUmmies shouldn't be so quick to celebrate Obamacare. Now, I haven't researched this particular detail but maybe someone else knows.
My DIL has seen a chiropractor for a few years for migraine headaches. She recently married my son, they moved to this area and both have new jobs with the school system; hence, they both have new BCBS insurance.
She found a new chiropractor to see for her migraines and has gone to see him three times. Her claims were rejected because she has a "pre-existing condition." She received a letter from the insurance company stating that because of the Affordable Care Act, and because her policy was not in effect before March of 2010 (those plans are "grandfathered-in"), 180 days has to pass before they will cover for a pre-existing condition.
So, if that is the case, what's up with that? I thought the pre-existing condition clause the DUmmies like to tout was already in effect but not for my DIL.

Or going to HER cat on information on how to work a Glock.
Poor Spooky.

We never did hear what led to the demise of the Spookster.
My guess is he accidentally ingested some of Pammie's gut rot medication.
Or maybe, since he couldn't escape like Holli, he just took the Glock and blew all nine lives to hell.
On the other hand, Pam is a compulsive liar. General Spookskopf is probably alive and well.

She has a cat whose name was "Spooky"?
But...that cat is black.
:racist:

I have heard this from a poster on another conservative board that thought they might have to change insurance.
It used to be if you had less then a 90 day gap between policies, there was no preexisting.
It sounds like the insurnace lobby made Obamacare worse, not better....but we knew that would happen.
Years ago, once I had to self pay insurnace and did exceed the 90 day gap between coverage I actually had to wait a year for pre existing, so maybe six months is better...but it's still not the hype they promised to get the bill passed.
