PLEASE congratulate Omaha's Newest Police Dept employee!
You may know him. He goes by the handle Omaha Steve.
It has been over a year and a half since I pinched a nerve in my neck between c-4 & c-5 on the job. Three specialists recommend not doing the surgery unless it gets worse. I can't do the heavy lifting required of my current job as a result.
Thanks to my union contract they can't just lay me off. I have been accommodated to a lower paying position. I'll keep my benefits, seniority, retirement, etc. I will be a civilian Information Services Tech starting Monday the 6th of August.
I will be a civilian Information Services Tech
Know what frank? I think the Omaha PD is going to suddenly start getting LOTS of links to a certain website that may soon be resurrected.

Seriously?!?
The weeping chieftain has exactly %0.00 IT experience, how the heck can he secure a job in the IT field.
This is really bad news for the good folkes of Bellevue Ward I.
Lets remind the good folkes of Bellevue what Steve is, by his own words.
At least he was honest. He's going to be a CIST. He just spelled it wrong.

I wonder if Steverino will get a uniform? and a swelled head to go with it?He can just wear that Combat! uniform he made. And his head is already swelled to is neck.
He can just wear that Combat! uniform he made.
Someone should repost that. He looked great, didn't he?I don't have the Combat! picture but I found this one on the web:
And in his new gofer job he should wear his medals, too.

Translated to English: "Dammit! I missed my ride on the Disability-go-round, and now they're making me WORK instead of staying home and pulling in those sweet, sweet checks!"
WTF is that?He caught the Neighborhood Trolley to the Kingdom of Make Believe and missed the ride back.
Actually, that's quite a come-down for the big guy.
I'll bet Marta's pissed, and rummaging around for the rolling-pin right now.
The big guy was making anything circa $49,000-$55,000 a year at the sewer plant, and now he's in something that starts out at $34,000 a year, it seems. Probably he gets a little more than that because he's been a burden on the payroll of the city of Omaha for so long, but whatever the big guy's making appears to be quite a cut.
WTF is that?
WTF is that?
Registering handguns is part of the job description.... :rotf:
Good luck, Stevie.
I hope they're unloaded if he has to touch them.
When I read farther into the job description, it said "Ensure handguns are unloaded..." And it should have followed with, "by sticking the barrel to your eye and pulling the trigger..." But that's a little dark.

It doesn't appear to be anything related to computers at all. Hell, it looks like they eliminated the typing requirement for the position. It doesn't seem to be anything more difficult than a door greeter.

Does the Omaha PD have some sort of social networking site that allows comments from concerned/interested citizens?
I say Steve's good friends should keep a journal of his attacks on police and his support of police murderers.
No doubt, on any of those points, I was merely saying that his self-congratulatory post was actually saying (In English as opposed to DUmmish) that he failed to get the total disability retirement he had so long sought, and had been forced to accept a lower-paying job as an accommodation to his perhaps-not-so-totally-disabling injuries, and that he was therefore actually trying to put a good face on the outcome of the lengthy procedural endeavor, which apparently did not play out as he intended when he started down that road.

Andrzej Raczynski sounds decent, but if he's not a thorn in the union's side, he's not doing it right.

I can't help but to wonder if his political run derailed the disability train....

That job description gets weirder and weirder and weirder.
This sounds very much like what a "security technician" in an insane asylum would do, and so now I'm guessing the job entails "intake and processing" of people recently arrested and about to be tossed into jail.
This is probably only a temporary gig. He has again been nominated to run for VP of the union.:lmao: :rotf:

And incidentally, what kind of information technology can the Omaha Weeper provide?
He spends all day posting at the DUmp, and he's dumber than an oyster.

The union VP position is a paid full time position.
Oh my.
There goes the big guy again, chasing his dream of getting a free ride somehow.
The big guy's 55, almost 56, years old; all he has to do is work diligently at his job, be respectful to his bosses and get along with his co-workers, and in 9, 10, years he'll be on social security and a taxpayer-paid city pension, in gravy for the rest of his life.
Nine or ten years waiting for the ease and comfort of retirement isn't that long to wait.
He's spent more of his working life trying to find that free ride, than working.
I'm sure that even now poor dear Marta's silently getting tired of it; after all, she's the one who's had to do the heavy lifting, money-wise, in that marriage. She won't say anything to him herself, lest he weep, but I'm confident that's the way she really feels; the big lug should stop quit looking for a free ride, some wild dream, and concentrate on bringing some bacon home, so she herself isn't overburdened.
I warned everybody; the big guy's going to be running around looking for a free ride until he's pushing up daisies.
How long before Steve gets charged with a felony because he got caught using a police database(LIEN) to check on the background of a caver? That would actually be quite serious. If true, I certainly hope it doesn't get smoothed over.
How long before Steve gets charged with a felony because he got caught using a police database(LIEN) to check on the background of a caver?
Ohhh really? Please elaborate.
I think Tucker means the big guy might surreptitiously try to check up on members of conservativecave using a criminal database that's limited only to law-enforcement use.
Too bad for the big guy; franksolich has no criminal record, never even a parking ticket. In my whole life.
<<so squeaky-clean it amazes even me.
Not only limited only to law-enforcement use, but only in connection of a suspect in a crime.
How long before Steve gets charged with a felony because he got caught using a police database(LIEN) to check on the background of a caver?
Vegas over/under says about a week.
I wonder if he knows those checks are logged. Just sayin.
Wouldn't every keystroke on those computers be logged somewhere?
By the way, I find something here most curious.
The big guy hasn't mentioned his candidacy for vice-president on Skins's island.
One wonders what's up with that.
He's missing out on a prime opportunity to raise money from the primitives, for that race.
He may be worried about more helpful e-mails going to his opponent.

Marta probably said no.
It cost her a pretty penny for the last fund raiser OS had.

Bumped to get OS to respond over there.
Well, I am truly worried. He was ok as recently as last night. Made this post, has no responses
Whenever the big guy doesn't post something--anything--on Skins's island, I worry that something might've happened to him, rendering him incapable.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021290927Two things Steve. 1) You don't need an apostrophe to make camera a plural and 2) digital (and film) cameras were not new then, if you *really* want photographs, you might consider taking one. You knew who would be there, you had a book and a pen, it was not a surprise/chance encounter.

Five years ago...
I went to a book signing of US Senator Biden's. He was already considered a candidate for President. I have a few low quality (phone camera's were new) photos of the event. I have an in person signed copy of his book. I am so proud to have it in my political section of my library.

Well, I can relax now.
The big guy showed up on Skins's island tonight.
No need to check the obituaries in the morning.

Good to know he got his butt unwedged from the library. He saved the Bellevue Fire Dept a lot of trouble.
I've never seen them, only heard of them.
Would there be one of those "jaws of life" things big enough to extricate the big guy?
I don't even know what they look like, but I imagine they have load limits.
That poor Pinto. :(

-Big Dog using Jaws of Life, 1991
The Jaws would pull and cut the library from around him. No outhouse could survive!
It was a training day with the fire department at a local junkyard. We cut up 3-4 cars that day. Kind of like cadaver lab, the cars were already dead.
:evillaugh:
Oh. So they look like a pair of big wire-cutters.
I see the phrase "jaws of life" in the newspapers once in a while, but had no idea.
I'd imagined it something like a big crane but rather than with a hoist, with some sort of mechanism that stretches things apart, and lifts someone or some thing out of a tight spot.
<<doesn't do television, remember, so hasn't seen all.
