Not only limited only to law-enforcement use, but only in connection of a suspect in a crime.

Hmmm.

I didn't know the second part of that sentence, and it's nice to know.

The big guy had better be really careful then, that his fingers don't punch the wrong keys by "accident."

How long before Steve gets charged with a felony because he got caught using a police database(LIEN) to check on the background of a caver?

Vegas over/under says about a week.

I wonder if he knows those checks are logged.  Just sayin.

Wouldn't every keystroke on those computers be logged somewhere?

Yup. Every single one.

EDS was aware of my every keystroke. My Dept. Head was provided that data for every person in the Dept.

The Weeper isn't a sworn officer. I really doubt he will have access to law enforcement information. He'll sit in front of a door, and give directions to visitors who come through that door. He'll take coffee to real officers upon request, and he'll have a small mop behind his desk to clean up any mud tracked in by inconsiderate visitors. He'll wear some kind of civilian housekeeper's uniform, which he may dress up with his Combat Infantry Badge.

He won't be looking up the police records of anyone. Even if authorized, which he will never be, it would take a massive training program to teach him how to navigate through the layers of security that protect that kind of information. Even if he wrote directions on his hand, it's unlikely Steve could muster the intelligence needed to do it on his own.

Given Steve's predilections, his intense interest in high school girls playing basketball, he's more likely to get canned for visiting websites  like "Teen Ballers" or "Little Miss Slam Dunk" or "Teeny Half Court Dribble". Steve already knows that teenaged girls playing basketball falls well inside the boundaries of Rule 34 of the internet.

Thanks to whoever it was who resurrected this thread; it's been drawing a lot of interest from internet service providers (ISPs) serving eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, some of whom might be co-workers of the big guy.

As both the big guy and franksolich know, publicity never hurts.

I'm certain I'm in it.

One of the small prices to pay for working for the Government in any capacity is they get your entire life history, prints, blood type, etc etc etc. and they are shared with every criminal database nationally.

And what OS would learn is I deliver mail. Nothing more, nothing less.

By the way, I find something here most curious.

The big guy hasn't mentioned his candidacy for vice-president on Skins's island.

One wonders what's up with that.

He's missing out on a prime opportunity to raise money from the primitives, for that race.

Marta probably said no.

It cost her a pretty penny for the last fund raiser OS had.

If that, or something similar, is the case, good for dear Marta.

She's been married to the big guy for almost 35 years, and is probably tired of it.

The big guy's got to get it through his thick skull that Skins's island is not a respectable venue from which to shoot off one's mouth.

Bump to the front page again, as the big guy's got some explaining to do.

I was over at Skins's island earlier, and the big guy's posted nothing, zero, nada, zilch there about anything at all for a while now.

I think this is rather rude, because he may be ill or kicked out of the house or in jail, and of course we, being concerned for his well-being, need to know such things, so as to be properly sympathetic.

Well, I am truly worried.

Whenever the big guy doesn't post something--anything--on Skins's island, I worry that something might've happened to him, rendering him incapable.

Marta banging him into unconsciousness with the rolling pin, heart attack, stroke, stomach malfunction, trouble at work, in jail or a mental institution, knocked off.....those sorts of things.

I'll keep checking the obituaries and court news in the Omaha World-Herald in case there's anything there.

Set up for a soon to be disclosed ailment requiring gubmint assistance.
Any takers?
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

 Five years ago...
I went to a book signing of US Senator Biden's. He was already considered a candidate for President. I have a few low quality (phone camera's were new) photos of the event. I have an in person signed copy of his book. I am so proud to have it in my political section of my library.

Two things Steve.  1) You don't need an apostrophe to make camera a plural and 2) digital (and film) cameras were not new then, if you *really* want photographs, you might consider taking one.  You knew who would be there, you had a book and a pen, it was not a surprise/chance encounter.
This too shall pass.

I've never seen them, only heard of them.

Would there be one of those "jaws of life" things big enough to extricate the big guy?

I don't even know what they look like, but I imagine they have load limits.
