Report: US presents Israel with Iran strike plan
This is an AP story so this is all I can post.
I posted this in elections 2012 for a reason. This would not have been leaked to the press if there was serious intent to attack Iran. This is a reelection leak by the Obama admin. Had this been a serious plan. it would have been SECRET.
I'm ashamed this fool is my president. It just gets worse every day.

Haaretz prints a lot of garbage rumors, in fact the whole Israeli press is pretty undiscriminating in separating rumors from fact before rushing to press, so there may not even really be a leak. There is no doubt a plan, of some sort, but that's because we have a plan for everything including war with Mexico and/or Canada, because cranking out war plans for things that might or might not happen is what military contingency planners spend their careers doing.
However, I am not optimistic that a strike would mean the termination of Iran's program, whether we do it from a carrier or the Israelis do it overland. Everyone concerned learned a lot from both Osirak and the Israeli takedown of the secret Syrian facility. I believe the Iranian nuclear infrastructure is too dispersed and hardened for any single strike to be a lethal blow to it.

obama claimed that he would help Netanyahu militarily if he striked, but he doesn't want him to until after the election when he can pretty much do what he wants and not have to worry about the consequences (If I was Netanyahu, I would tell Barry to shove it). It wouldn't surprise me if obama used this as a campaign ploy - And I still say that if Israel does attack, obama will side with Iran and attack Israel. With him being such an Israel hater, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
It cited an unidentified senior American official as the source of its report, which came out as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was telling Israel he would back an Israeli military strike against Iran.

In Jerusalem on Sunday, a top Romney foreign policy adviser told reporters, "If Israel has to take action on its own, in order to stop Iran from developing the capability (to build a nuclear weapon), the governor would respect that decision." Romney also thinks the option of a U.S. attack should also be on the table.
Romney will side with Israel. He will also not bow down and apologize to countries who hate us. I am hoping he tells all the islamic countries to shove it and stops all aid to all of them. Screw them and their fake religion of peace.

Certainly possible. Risky, if so, since it's already very likely what the Iranians think we're doing, and adding a new stimulus to them could produce an unpredictable response and a bad case of unintended consequences.

Our political leaders and their chief advisors in both parties have a long track record of failing to realize that foreign regimes do not inescapably think the same way they do, and then they try to apply a push in one direction that goes horribly wrong because the foreign government is simply not working from the same frame of reference. FDR's oil embargo to get the Japanese to leave China, which instead convinced them they needed to attack Pearl Harbor, is probably the most well-documented example, but modern history is replete with plenty of others.

What about the possibility that it's another leak from the WH in order to keep Israel from doing anything one way or another?

Tx, I think that's the kind of thing they wouldn't need a leak to do. If the story was true, the IDF brass and top political leaders would've been the ones it was shared with before it was leaked, so why leak it afterwards to convince them? The leak is either for the consumption of parties outside the US and Israeli defense circles which may or may not be true, or a rumor based on something taken out of context like a remark about contingency plans.
By the way, one other factor that may play into this is that the Israeli press is sensitive to Israeli security concerns, but they have a long record of absolutely not giving a shit about ours, and will print anything that comes their way on our defense plans and actions.

If I was Israel, I would not count on Obama's help. We have seen yellow bellied Democraps when it comes to the aid of our friends. For example, JFK throwing Cubans to the wolves by pulling US support of the planned invasion. .

The only reason he is announcing an aid pack is for political gain. If it was up to him, he would rather give all the aid to the Palestinians and let Israel hang.

The important question is: "What White House staffer leaked this, and did they do it to help Obama?" So many security leaks from this administration, and the ones that help Obama are not discovered, but if they hurt him, they are found and prosecuted.
