I stayed up until about 3AM Saturday morning. Of course this means I'd be sleeping in until about 11AM. I wake up to cries from my little girl, Bella, my female Lhasa. Apparently my wife, with NO domestic skills at all, left both Bailey and Bella outside. She's in heat. Has been for a while. She has a denim diaper I bought her and I put it on here every time I leave. I slept upstairs in the "Chris" bed because, apparently, I snore when I'm drunk, and woke up to the cries. I run downstairs and out the back door to my dogs. I pick Bella up and there's resistance. She's attached to Bailey. They had mated. DamnIT! She's still a puppy. I wanted to breed her, but not until about the second or third heat. ****ing dumbass left them outside when she ran Damn errands at 8AM. At this point, I could have probably strangled her f'n ass. This could, in fact, kill Bella at this age. She's 9 months old.
I don't know what to do. Bailey is a better breed of Lhasa, but Bella is a TON smarter. I wanted to breed the two, eventually. Now, I have no choice. It's either spay her now, or take the chance of her dying. I'm not keen on either. I DAMN sure don't want to lose her, but I do want a puppy from her. She's intelligent. Very intelligent. Hell, there is no DUmmie that's that intelligent, maybe with the exception of Operation Mindcrime or Bryant69.
What do I do?
-
Oh man...that sucks.
-
:bump:
I need to get one of these with a :censored: face.
-
Your best bet, I suppose, is to call your vet Monday morning. There may be some options, but I'm not sure what. Good luck.
-
Bummer of a decision.
I'd call the vet on Monday, and get a professional opinion.
Let us know what happens!
-
If it is less than 72 hours since they mated it is possible to get the canine equivalent of the morning after pill. If it is later than this then the earliest time at which pregnancy can be determined is about 22-28 days.
http://www.petpeoplesplace.com/resources/advice/dogs/102.htm
Call your vet, or call a 24-hour emergency pet clinic, now.
-
If you have to get her spayed and there are puppies in there can you not tell us? That seriously freaks me out! :bawl:
-
Oh no. :( Poor dog.
-
Nine months is very young, but it really shouldn't kill her. Any puppies will NOT be registerable, though.
Do NOT let her get bred again, hope for only one or two, and RECORD THIS DATE. You will want to watch her very, very carefully in 60 days, as soon as she starts acting like she's in labor (tearing paper, not eating, possibly loose bowel movements, laying around and panting) time the labor. If she goes 3 or 4 hours with no first puppy, seems to be in any distress, starts looking tired, whines...ANYTHING, get her to a vet for a ceasarean instantly. And I do mean instantly, 3 AM, 4 AM, if you want her to live, don't sweat the vet bill.
She should come through that procedure just fine, though I would let her wait a year before breeding her again, limit her further litters to one a year, and personally, I wouldn't breed her more than 3 or 4 times max. Definitely stop by the time she's five.
This does not have to be a tragedy.

I have a probably stupid question. My dog is really big but she stopped growing before she got to 9 months. Well not in weight because she is a fatty. If the llasa is a really small dog wouldn't it be full grown by then? Why would a pregnancy kill her? I am not trying to be a butt I am honestly just curious. Do their innards grow slower, or maybe they don't get the mommy instinct until later?

It really shouldn't kill her. Something like a Yorkie or Maltese...maybe. It's not much different than a 14 or 15 year old human...not good, but usually not fatal, especially with ceasareans available. At worst, if she isn't fully developed, a very large pup could get stuck and cause problems, but a vet can take care of it without any problem. Possibly not even do the surgery, just pull it.

One of the varied benefits of growing up working a breeding kennel. :-)
I can also dock tails, remove dew claws, give shots both under the skin and intramuscular, assist with minor surgery, and clean up almost any mess without getting sick. :-)

wow.. i had no idea about this sort of stuff!
good luck Rebel - this is a tough one..

It's on. We took her today. She has 3 puppies and the vet said they're long. I guess they're going to be Bailey's size. She's small. Monday will be day 58, next Saturday will be day 63. She's about ready to pop.
BTW, why can't they be registered, Mrs. Smith?
-
poor thing! at least you know the date so you can really keep an eye on her.
-
Best wishes for a safe delivery. Congratulations grandpa (?).

Violated my little girl.

"baby daddy" :lmao:
Sorry. I know you're not happy about it.

I wasn't happy "at the time", but the vet said they seem healthy. Bella is also very healthy. If something happens to her, you can pretty much expect me to be absent for a while. :(

They said he was "hung". :rotf:

Well, you tell me. This is a pic I took when they had to shave him because his hair got too knotted up.

No that was Hung Chu dammit

Get an agent for him, that dude belongs in film. :-)

I just realized something. I made a "So," thread. :lmao: :loser:
-

When my wife mentioned Lhasa's, I said, "I don't want a 'bitch' dog". Bailey is more of a "man's dog" than any dog I've seen. Reminds me a lot of myself sometimes. :lmao:
-
Is he a weiner dog? :-)

1 bong. Extra points for including pic and use of the phrase "baby daddy."

You don't get all knotted up and need a shave, do you? :lmao:
I love the pictures by the way.

Because she is too young...at least for the AKC. I'm not sure all breed registries have the same rules, but the female must be (I think) 12 months and the male 9 months - at the time of the breeding - in order to register the pups. (You may want to check the exact ages before you give up on it, though. It's been a long time since I was "in the business" and things may have changed.)

I don't think I'll be able to get them AKC registered anyway. She's AKC, he's ACA. Since ACA is the, I guess, lower of the two, AKC won't recognize the puppies anyway.
-
I am so disappointed with myself. First for being kinda shocked that a dog could be "hung", second for going to go look at the picture that proves it, and third for agreeing that he could be in some sort of freaky furry movie. :lmao:

First time my parents came to visit, when we had him, he went upstairs and slept with them. ....on his back with Rod and the twins hanging loose. :whatever:

Maybe the puppies could just have hyphenated last names?

Yeah, I'm thinking of naming the runt Rob-Johnson.

How do you know there will be a runt?
I was thinking more of *puppyname* AKC-ACA :-)

There's a runt in every litter. As far as I know.
I'm naming them one, two, and three. I'm not getting attached.

Good idea. That would be hard not to want to keep all of them.

so by this weekend huh?
let us know.
He's a stud in every sense of the word isn't he? :-) And you said the female dog took after you....lol

Check ACA rules. Maybe you can still register them there...it's way better than nothing. :-)

2 girls, one boy.
Yeah, I did all the nasty shit. Things I didn't think I would do. You do it, I "guess", out of instinct to help your little girl.....I.e. Bella. Even pulled the first two out, who were breached. The first two were the females. Feet first. I pulled them out.
-
So what did you name them? :uhsure:
-
OK another stupid question.... If the dad is all white and the mom is all white and they are full breeds why are the pups different colors? Are those colors some other kind of standard for the dog or did Bella have a "back door man"?
-
awwwwwwwwww! they look so sweet, you are in for some fun in the coming weeks, nothing bettern puppies and kittens!
-
Good job, Kev. Glad everything turned out okay. :)
-
cute pups. the spotted one is adorable.
Bella looks exhausted. I'm glad she's okay though.

No, all those are are traits, much like our own. It would have been a recessive trait that became dominant this go around. Kinda like two blonds having a brown head kid.

Actually, blond is recessive. It would be like two brunettes having a blond. :)

My ex has Reddish Brunette Colored hair & and Mine(if I let it grow) is dark dark brown, almost to the point of being black. Both my son & daughter have dirty blonde colored hair. People say it could have been the mailman cept that both kids look just like me .

None of'em are. Logan is in the orange sweater. London(Pink sweater) was my favorite. They both live with my brother-in-law, his wife, and two kids across town. Lilly Grace lives in Mississippi with my parents.
-
How come none are living with you guys anymore....I thought you had 2 or 3 at home.

Bailey and Bella, the parents, are living here. We have a 3500 sq foot home sitting on .27 of an acre. 2 dogs are quite enough. :-)
-
They're all such cutie pies!
If I could dress my cats up and not think they'd smother me in my sleep, I totally would. :-)

Dang, they are cute!

Believe me I understand.....our house is a bit larger and 4 indoor cats are plenty...they shed enough for 10! :whatever:

I have had Westies and they really don't shed either.....I want another one....but I'm not sure the "girls" would be very happy about a dog in their midst.

We're on 3 and a quarter...but I wouldn't let the cats loose....I'd be afraid of a raccoon or a fox getting them.

A fox got my grandma's tough as nails barn cat the other day. I didn't think anything could kill that mean old cat but the fox tore it up. :(
