Fizzled campfire, and kudos to those who said it was wrong, kind of think the thread fizzled because people who agree with the Teacher realized they'd come off looking like fools.

Here we go again (NC teacher??)
I just got up this morning to find one of my 'friends' had sent me this video of a teacher in North Carolina (rightfully) telling a student you can't just say what you want to about the President.
Does anybody know if this is real or fake? This person has sent me other things like this before, and I'd really like to throw it back in their faces on this one. It seems to over the top to be real. It's a youtube link, but just audio supposedly recorded by another student.

Thanks guys, the DU is awesome!!

First looks says the teacher could have been more poised.

the teacher has some serious problems...

3. Yes, but
Ok, fair enough- but progressive professor says that it's 'making the rounds' as it were, so how do we counter what others are thinking for themselves about the video?
I still think the teacher is right in her assertion.

4. Yes, if this is legit the teacher is way off base
She has the perfect opportunity to facilitate a discussion about politics and politicians and what passes for political discourse these days.
She comes across as a knee-jerk ideologue, not an educator.
salin
5. No - if you listen to the whole thing - she is consistent, not an ideologue.
Now she also comes off as fairly uninformed, and as having poor control of her classroom - the kids took over any control she had of that classroom for a side discussion that lasted a long time and wasn't productive. Wonder what the lesson for the day was supposed to be about. Also wonder where she learned civics (people can be arrested for speaking disrespectfully about sitting and former presidents... really?)
However she is consistent on this point - asserting the same 'respect' was and is due to W. as for Obama.
Spaldeen
6. Listening to the whole thing
Yes, she could have done a better job of controlling her class, and keeping them on topic and staying with the narrative.
I also think that there is no way that W should be afforded the same respect as President Obama. W doesn't deserve to lick the ground President Obama has walked on, regardless of any minor issues he's been set back with.
We aren't talking apples and oranges here, and the teacher knows it. You know it. I know it. She's just a strong enough person to say what we're all thinking inside. I'm not going to fault her for that, and I don't think anybody here should, either.

She was too much of a "true believer" for me. Obama is not above scrutiny and criticism, imo. That whole "equal justice under law" thing still means something to me.
Maybe I'll give it a complete listen later, but I think what the kid was saying about Obama early on was not disrespectful (I didn't hear anything after about 5 minutes, I guess...it just got boring) and she seemed to be completely overreacting.
At the very least, she was a very poor educator in this instance.
And BTW: Ideologues are often consistent to a fault.
Zalatix
10. Ideologues are often consistent to a fault, and, occasionally, like this woman, mis-informed.

8. NO.
So the teacher is telling her students they shouldn't speak their minds about Obama?
Because he is president?
Bullshit. She is waaaaaay off base.
I only listened to about the 4:00 mark, but I'd heard enough by then.
I believe I'd pull my kid out of that class over that.
Teacher is wrong, and scary.
That the OP thinks this is ok is scary too.
BanTheGOP
9. I wouldn't have gone the route of imprisonment for speaking bad about President Obama
But I definitely would have brought out the illegal activities that the republican Party has committed in the guise of "political discourse," and painstakingly explained to the kiddies how such actions which are criminal in any other context cannot just apply to one party. That would have been an excellent time for such discourse.

In today's parlance, a knee-jerk far left ideologue is an educator.
-
Why is it that the stupidest people in the country are often teaching our kid? Not all teachers are stupid, of course, but there are enough of them to do a lot of damage.
-
I just got up this morning to find one of my 'friends' had sent me this video of a teacher in North Carolina (rightfully) telling a student you can't just say what you want to about the President
Rightfully? All the kid did was ask why it's ok to talk about Romney allegedly bullying a kid 40 years ago and not ok to mention Obama admitting in writing he bullied a girl in school.
:whatever:
Now you can't go around yelling that the President should die (and NO I"M NOT SAYING THAT EITHER...it's an example) anymore than people are allowed to yell fire in a crowded theater.
But to say you can be arrested for merely asking why the President is coming under the same scruitny as the man challenging him is retarded.
And for someone to be in a position of teachin those young kids to have nothing better to defend her position with other than "he's already the President" should get her fired.
Even if that's what you believe...you can't let one of your students give a smarter answer than yours.
Or to say well you can say all kinds of mean stuff about W because YOU happen to think he was a crappy President? Great you just lost any cred as an intelligent person with your class of 6th graders that you might have had.
If they'd really been on their game or not been taking pity on you...they'd have asked you why if you can't criticize a sitting President without going to jail...are the people who called Bush Hitler...said he was a war criminal and wrote a movie about his assassanation not sitting in the Federal pen?
-
You know, if that teacher was saying that to a kid when Bush was President, or even if Romney becomes President, you would be seeing the MSM and the DUmp going ape shit over it. They would be calling for the teacher to be strung up at the nearest tree.

Here is a related story in the Blaze. Note this one item:
Our research has not turned up a single case of anyone in America being arrested for speaking ill of former President Bush.
Not Bush, or any other Republican President. No, you have to look to Democrats for examples of fascism:
http://www.dailyrepublican.com/clintoninsulted.html
"You suck, and those boys died!"
Mrs. Mendoza has said the president looked her in the eyes, then motioned to an assistant and pointed her out, as he continued on past her through the crowd attempting to get photos of people shaking hands with him.
After Clinton left the area, Secret Service agents pounced on Mrs. Mendoza and accused her of "threatening" president Clinton. At that point Mr. Mendoza ordered his wife not to say anything until she consulted an attorney.

After a little more digging around the internet it appears that the name of the teacher at North Rowan High is Tanya Dixon-Neely. Its not the same teacher as the video I just recently posted here. Big problem in North Carolina schools.
-
I finally watched the video, and judging from the way she talks, I am surprised that she made it through college. Wow, does she sound so stupid.
At the end she says that she can't allow anyone to say negative things about any President, past or present. So she is consistent there. Although she seriously needs to learn the law before she opens her mouth.

This kind of crap has been going on for decades. When I was in junior high I was "taught" by one history teacher that the US was "defeated" by Vietnam, that Republicans started the war, and that it was all Nixon's fault. Of course I later learned on my own the truth of the matter. Democrat War, LBJ's fault it got out of hand, and Nixon got the war stopped with a stalemate cease fire. Of course the commies in N. Vietnam violated the cease fire treaty, and the commies in the US Congress refused to defend and uphold the treaty. The Dems start the war, escalate it, organize the defeat and takeover of S. Vietnam, and them blame the Republicans for it in the media and schools in the decades following it.

I had an English teacher in 1985 who taunted the boys in her classes that they would soon be shipped off to Nicaragua to fight Ortega, and it was our parents' fault for voting for Reagan over Mondale. One of the kids' father was a city councilman, and through back channels he made that woman feel some serious pain. It was wonderful.

My History Teacher and Current Affairs Teacher all through High School was and is a Classic Liberal, the overwhelming majority of the kids in my class were/are conservative, but he was the best Teacher that I ever had, he would discuss issues with us, never tried to change our mind, never belittled our opinions.
BTW Rush is talking about this issue now!

North Rowan teacher suspended

SALISBURY — Rowan-Salisbury Schools officials suspended a North Rowan High School teacher Monday while investigating an incident caught on camera where the teacher told a student he could be arrested for speaking ill of President Barack Obama.
In a nearly 10-minute YouTube video shot by a student in the classroom, Tanya Dixon-Neely, a social studies teacher, told students criticism of the president could lead to jail time.
“Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush?†she said of former President Bush. “Do you realize you are not supposed to slander the president?â€
Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay, according to Rowan-Salisbury School System Spokeswoman Rita Foil.
On Friday, Foil said the incident can be a learning experience.
“The Rowan-Salisbury School System expects all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom. This incident should serve as an education for all teachers to stop and reflect on their interaction with students.â€
A Salisbury Post reporter went to Dixon-Neely's home for comment this morning, but no one answered the door. Calls to her number have gone unanswered and there is no answering machine.
The video went viral over the weekend and viewership jumped from about 1,000 views to more than 168,000 Monday morning.

Termination of her employment is the only acceptable outcome IMO. This another reason why public employee unions should be outlawed so that pieces crap like Ms. Dixon-Neely are easily fired with no political bullshit from corrupt public sector unions.

Yeah, I finally watched it. The kid knew more than the teacher. She was acting like a typical liberal.

Rush said that the kid had his friend tape this because he wanted to prove to his Parents that this Teacher was doing this. This has to send a shiver through the Teachers Unions, actual proof of what we've been saying has gone on for years.

Yeah he easily beat her in the debate, but then its not exactly a difficult task to defeat a liberal in a debate. That is why the cowards at DU won't come over here. They fear the slap down they know they will get. That, and it would expose what hypocrites they are when we allow them to come here without fear of banning, but their board does not allow us the same.

Hmmmm....ok, now that's strange. I haven't heard Rush this afternoon, but here's this comment from the comment thread of the original story:
http://www.salisburypost.com/News/051912-North-teacher-on-video-qcd
"Timothy Rogers · Salisbury, North Carolina
I'm the father of this student. My son and two other students in this class have been attacked daily from this teacher, and the rest of the class, for their conservative political views since the beginning of this semester. I told him to stay out of the political conversations, but she said that if he didn't participate he would receive a bad grade. This teacher is politically ignorant! I teach my sons to respect other peoples political opinion, but she has no right shoving her opinions down his throat! Since this day I have had to remove him from North Rowan High School and am going to enroll him at RCCC to finish his education. I am outraged that she can conduct herself in such an unprofessional manner and receive no disciplinary action. THIS IS NOT OVER! I will attempt to contact Rush Limbaugh this week.

If this is the father, he doesn't sound like he needed much convincing.

:whatever:
At least in this regard, DUmmies and libs aren't hypocrites. The last original thought Spaldeen probably ever had was "breathe!" when he emerged at birth.
-
I listened to the whole thing, and the impression I got was that "Romney was a high school bully" was presented as the Fact of the Day in that classroom. Obviously biased, and more an opinion than a fact. The "teacher" should be canned on the spot for being ignorant of the difference between fact and opinion, ignorant of civics, ignorant of the English language, having NO control over that class, and just general stupidity.
-
Mercy! That was a teacher? She can barely speak and she sure has some wonky reasoning.
Repetitive chanting, "You cannot disrespect the president..." and some other blathering doesn't count as facilitating discussion.
-

I had a very hard time understanding what she was saying. Her speaking was very bad. Which is why I am surprised she made it through college. She must have went to a community college that will pass anyone who is breathing. If she would have went Penn State or Pitt, she wouldn't have made it through one semester. That is even if she was able to pass the test to get in.

DO NOT WORRY!!!
The fifth grade educated teacher has been suspended....WITH PAY!
Shit like this goes on all the time but just not quite so in your face at our schools/indoctrination centers.
On another topic, I got a hunski that says the teacher was black for so many reasons but mostly the complete tribalism of her defense of 0bama. Anybody want to take my bet?
-
The fact that she teaches Social Studies should scare the crap out of every parent who has a kid in public school! Stupid, dictatorial propaganda machines. Your tax dollars at work. Too bad there's no way to have a mass exodus from public school to private school or homeschool because public school isn't gonna change anytime soon. A shame adults took their eye off the ball and let it corrode that much. Now unions have more control than the parents (and other citizens...we paid taxes & homeschooled) who pay taxes for their children to get a decent education. Seriously, I don't understand why more parents don't pay attention and hold these schools, teachers and unions accountable.

OH crap, you guys have no idea what it was like when I went to school. Teachers did no wrong, I was suspended for one day as a pencil rolled off my desk and I scrambled to catch it. Down to the Principals office I went, and Mom was called to come and get me. She spoke to the teacher and took me home.
Here's what went down. ----The teacher, male, was having a real bad day and my disrupting the class to retrieve my pencil was the last straw for the teacher. Mother was afraid to question the teacher as it could make things 'WORSE" for me. Lesson learned was children are held accountable for their teachers moods.
Fast forward to the late 1980's I am called to my sons school to speak with his homeroom teacher. Poor woman just 2-3 years from retirement and facing tests at that time in VA. to judge a teachers competency.
Teachers complaint was my son at 14 would sneak into home room before she arrived and draw cartoons and caricatures of her that were unfaltering on the black board.
She was in tears telling me how much this hurt her feelings and under all the pressure to take tests on subjects she never taught. She was having a melt down big time. She was his home room teacher not a teacher in any subject she taught. It seemed she was not getting any back up from the other teachers or the Principal as they did not come to this meeting.
Then there was Poor Mrs. Smith, an English teacher in my Junior year just 1 year short from retirement. Tall and thin, she would put her belt on her waist and her boobies would be bumps below the belt. Mrs. Smith was possibly 60+ years old and had a delicate nature. She was so sensitive she would cry at the drop of the hat.
Came the day she dreaded most was explaining Hamlet and the one passage where it was written -----IIRC--some thing about the the pleasure of laying between a young maids legs. Got to remember she had been teaching since the early 1930's and now it was the 1960's and times had changed.
We were wolves, taking bets on what question we could ask that would melt her down first.
History was a bitch, our teacher less then 20 years at the end of WW2 had students that had family on 3 sides of the war. Now that was a tight rope to walk and try to teach.
The Highschool as just a way station for some kids from all over the world waiting to get into Phillipe's at Exeter.
No matter how difficult teaching is today, the teachers just teach what they and their teachers were taught. Keeps going down to teaching political lies and history changing by the writers of the textbooks.
Figure this teacher was teaching what she had been Told to teach, what the school district demanded her to teach and teachers have little if no choice of choosing their own input when they find a flaw.
Figure you as a teacher are required to insist the 3 rd. grade read my 'two mothers' or other homosexual oreanted books targeting the little kids. What to do, Quit and move to some other State that has the same requirements ???
It is the Unions and their political ideas that decide what teachers teach. Check out our history books today that decide who to leave out of history and who to include.
