Feds Called in to Curb Eastside Crime
August 11, 2011 10:41 AM
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) - The public housing complexes on the east side of the river might just be the deadliest places in the country, but efforts are underway to secure the area.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is bringing in federal law enforcement to help state and local authorities crack down on crime. Figures show that East St. Louis is nearly twice as dangerous as even the worst streets in Chicago.
“You will find that the crime rate here is the worst in the nation,†Durbin says. “The club scene in East St. Louis is a crime scene.â€
Durbin says that although the public housing complexes are managed federally, their problems come from local sources.
So Dickhead Durbin chooses to spend more tax dollars on a black hole. Literally, a black hole.
Spend, spend, spend on useless projects (http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2011/08/11/feds-called-in-to-curb-eastside-crime/)

ESL should be an object lesson in what happens at the end of the road Obama and asshats like Durbin himself want to take us down, but he's too damned stupid to see it.

REALLY! How long ago was that (if you don't mind the question.)

I made my escape in 1979, but stayed in the area until 1990 when I left Illinois for good. Back then, when they'd riot and rampage (and they did it all the time) the police would just surround the area and not let anyone in or out. Worked every time.
I was there before and after the "Great White Flight"; not the place for a pretty little white girl to be. A friend who worked for Illinois Power disappeared while on a repair call in 1986, never found. I can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about thugs and 'community organizers'.
The blacks, and democrats, like to blame the corrupt white politicians for its downfall. No, it was the corrupt black politicians who took over. Carl Officer was the Obama of E. St. Louis.

I lived on the south side of ESL for a couple of years during undergrad school, and it was a pit then (early '60's). I even dated the daughter of the mob boss there (a really dumb decision), and hung out in his night club. Although the environment was awful it was actually better when the mob ran the city.....when they moved out, it went downhhill from there.

I hired an attorney in ESL for a prodduct liability lawsuit in Collinsville back in the late 1970s. It was bad back then. I can't recall the name of the lawyer. Good lawyer, though. We were dismissed from the lawsuit.

Rex Carr, maybe?
doc, here's some interesting readin'. Not 100% accurate, but interesting. http://www.eslarp.uiuc.edu/ibex/archive/
This part was written by a family friend. http://www.eslarp.uiuc.edu/ibex/archive/english/chapter1.htm

No. He wasn't the one. I'll try to remember.............
-
It Was Eric C. Young at Dunham, Bowman and Leskera. I only had to use him one time. Good lawyer.
He's at their Belleville office now.
(I KNEW there was a reason to keep my old list of lawyers! :-) )

I lived in Belleville for a year or so, back in the late 60's.

Good stuff.......I didn't realize that Buster was ever (directly) involved in local politics.......when I was around it appeared that his primary focus was union activities, gambling and prostitution. Suzy eventually married one of his lieutenants who was the head of the steamfitter's union.
The most interesting recollection that I have of that period was picking Suzy up at their "home"........which was a large pile in the boondocks east of town, surrounded by an actual "moat", complete with guardhouses fully equipped with armed goons.
I'm sure that that error in judgement earned me honorable mention in an FBI file, buried somewhere in DC.
As an aside, I had to drive down Route 3 past Monsanto twice a day.....I remember that the stench was awful, and just driving past it left you needing a shower and a fresh wardrobe. The Eads Bridge was still in use for auto traffic (I had no idea that it was that old), and I used it frequently (depending on traffic), as I worked on the Missouri side.......I think that it has been converted to a park now. During that period I watched the "Arch" being constructed, during my daily commutes.

Same here in Memphrica. They are the majority and are on all the seats but still blame the white people for their lives.

I've been to the moat house (party!), but years after it belonged to Buster. I don't know how anyone could live in Monsanto or Sauget. They had to be getting poisoned.
Watching the Arch go up was so cool.

I lived in Belleville for a year or so, back in the late 60's.
Belleville is the new ESL. Remember where Signal Hill was, on the bluffs? A beautiful neighborhood of upscale homes, no stores, no businesses, no reason to be there unless you lived there or knew someone who did. They put up a gate on the backside entrance (161) because the fine upstanding citizens of ESL were coming in and robbing, raping, etc. NAACP sued the city- racist!- and won. Now, even the east side of Belleville is crap.
Fairview Heights is next, they're crawling up the bluffs. I remember when they used to have "Keep the View Fair" billboards.
-
Geez. It's that bad down there?

To be quite honest, I don't remember a dang thing but my Beagle, Shotzi. Dad was stationed at Scott, and I was less than 3. I heard it was nasty now.
ETA: Anytime I say I lived in Belleville, anyone who knows the area just grimaces.

This is what liberals call "progress".
Yes we can!
