Good stuff.......I didn't realize that Buster was ever (directly) involved in local politics.......when I was around it appeared that his primary focus was union activities, gambling and prostitution. Suzy eventually married one of his lieutenants who was the head of the steamfitter's union.
The most interesting recollection that I have of that period was picking Suzy up at their "home"........which was a large pile in the boondocks east of town, surrounded by an actual "moat", complete with guardhouses fully equipped with armed goons.
I'm sure that that error in judgement earned me honorable mention in an FBI file, buried somewhere in DC.
As an aside, I had to drive down Route 3 past Monsanto twice a day.....I remember that the stench was awful, and just driving past it left you needing a shower and a fresh wardrobe. The Eads Bridge was still in use for auto traffic (I had no idea that it was that old), and I used it frequently (depending on traffic), as I worked on the Missouri side.......I think that it has been converted to a park now. During that period I watched the "Arch" being constructed, during my daily commutes.
