Title: Perry announcing Saturday???
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on August 09, 2011, 04:48:43 PM
I could accept Perry.

Apparently Iowa GOP is all butt-hurt he's announcing the same day as thei Ame's straw poll as if anyone knows/gives a ****.

The Iowa GOP needs to un-ass itself fast because Perry has an economic record that would be the campaign equivalent of a dildo on a jackhammer for Team: Obama.

Well...could be a lot worse.  Like McCain deciding to try again.  I'd rather have Perry than Romney anyway.

Obutthead's not going to handle this well. Let the fun begin.

Perry is better than Romney but a bunch of Texans here are not too thrilled with the Governor. I am still hoping that Palin will jump in. The more the merrier.

Perry ain't perfect, but he knows how to campaign and has the experience to put Obutthead down.  And he makes Obumble bumble  :-)

Anyone else read his book, "Fed Up!"?

I know nothing about Perry, but other than doing nothing about illegal aliens, what makes him different from Romney?

I don't care for either, but I have a feeling one of the two is going to be the nominee.  The establishment GOP bluebloods won't have it any other way, and isn't that how it usually turns out?

The biggest positive I see for Perry come campaign time is when 0bama says he inherited the Bush economy, Perry can turn and say "Gee, I did too, and I'm making it work pretty well."

Having said that, Perry is still not my candidate of choice

Not mine either, but a damned sight better than Romney.

Bam-bam ALSO inherited a +++ credit rating, but he won't say that!  :hammer:

I'm not sure that's such a bad thing, at this point.

Perry to make Sunday visit to Waterloo (http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.com/2011/08/09/perry-to-make-sunday-visit-to-waterloo/)

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will speak in Waterloo Sunday, his first visit to Iowa as a potential presidential candidate, a move that could diminish the attention any Republican presidential candidate might gain from Saturday’s straw poll in Ames.

Also Tuesday, his supporters offered new insights into their efforts to arrange an official presence at the straw poll.

“He’s obviously doing it to step on Ames,” Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, said of Perry’s scheduled appearances in South Carolina and New Hampshire on Saturday and Iowa on Sunday. “There is no other explanation. He wants to squash the momentum of any winner or winners out of Ames.”

Perry has been flirting with a presidential run for months. He will make a speech in South Carolina Saturday, the same day as the Iowa straw poll, where he is expected to make clear his intentions to run, although he may stop short of a formal announcement.

On Sunday, he will attend the Lincoln Day Dinner, a fundraiser hosted by the Black Hawk County Republicans.  His fans view Perry, the nation’s longest continuously serving governor, as combining appeal among evangelical conservatives with a track record of strong job creation.

MSM will play the Perry = Bush meme (both Texas govs.) all day long.

And they'll do so at their own peril.  Once people start noticing how much better Texas is doing than CA, NY, and the Rust Belt, they'll look at Obumbles and go, "How come YOU couldn't do this?"

I think Perry could win in a landslide against Obama.  He's 100x better than McLame and 10x better than Romney.  He may not be the perfect Texas conservative, but he's plenty conservative for DC.

Agree. Plus, I don't think Perry would hold back on blasting Obama because of the way the Magic Negro has dissed the state of TX and the Governor.
