Title: Enough with your faux fear about not getting a SS check
Post by: Ballygrl on July 13, 2011, 06:53:52 PM
The Government takes in 200 billion dollars every month, SS pays out about 50 billion every month, the Military pay is about 30 billion dollars every month, there's enough money for these people to get their check, so stop with the freaking fear mongering for nefarious purposes. Obama lied, yes lied when he said he wasn't sure if there would be enough money to go out. The 200 billion coming in every month isn't going to change.

So calm the freak down! and BTW, this little lie will backfire on the left because we've been told for years by Democrats that SS money is in a "lock box" of course we knew it wasn't, they've been putting their greedy little hands in there for years, so there is no "lock box" and you think regular Americans aren't going to think about that?

Now go back to freaking bitching out Fox News being on the TV!

Admittedly, I am confused. The democrats told me that the SS had $2.6 trillion dollars in a trust fund. Why would we need to borrow to pay SS?

Hence this fear mongering backfiring on them.

Ya know BG, they really hate it when you mention which sly ole fox picked that lock on the Social Security Box  and why: LBJ to pay for Vietnam :rotf:

From townhall.com:

Quote
The government takes in about $200 billion per month and spends about $300 billion per month. The payments on the debt is roughly 10% of what the government takes in per month, somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 billion. That means, if the government doesn’t raise the debt ceiling, which caps the amount of debt the government is allowed to have, that will leave the government with about $180 billion per month to spend. Sure, that’s about $100 billion less per month than they are used to spending, but it’s still an obscene amount. And it only means the government, for once, would have to prioritize where our money goes and not spend it where it is deemed “non-essential.”

Social Security Actuary Confirms: Withholding Checks Would be a Political Decision - July 13, 2011

Don’t you just love how calm and cheerful he is, as he hammers away at the truth? Even Stephen Goss, the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration, couldn’t help but smile as Huelskamp asked for his help getting to the bottom of why Social Security checks might not go out Aug. 3, when the nation clearly has enough money — even under a debt limit budget — to cover the interest on its debt, Social Security and more (Huelskamp even had the chart to prove it!).

Goss confirmed the decision to send out Social Security checks (or not) would, indeed, be a Treasury Department (a.k.a. the administration’s) decision.

Oh wow! so if the checks don't go out it would be because Obama orders them not to go out? and he might try to blame Republicans for this when in fact it's his decision?

That is my understanding. Which is why there is no chance in H-e-double toothpicks that the checks will not go out. I think your OP is right on. Nothing but scare tactics and political games.

Only truly frightening when the scare tactics work and the Rino's knees get weak.  :(

That's why Republicans need to get that message out, the media isn't on our side but they have to find a way to get this message across. If you have to buy airtime to do it then do that.

LTTE's just might work with papers such as USA Today.  Yeah, they're moonbats just like the rest of them, but they seem to be more fair than the others.  The New York Post might print one; the New York Daily News and the New York Times won't.

My MIL is on SS, plus she has Alzheimer's, and watches CNN and Headline News, and even she doesn't believe Lord Zero.

I like this one; I'm gonna use it.

Of all the dirty underhanded things the left pulls this scaring the crap out of Mabel and Gertie is particularly unsavory.
Just another example of how they don't care who they toss under the bus so long as they get what they want, azzholes. Rattling the blue hairs is downright despicable. I see it when I pop in to see the wife at work (I did just yesterday), she's a nurse and has several elderly permanent residents on her floor. The ones that are more with it know what's going on, the news is on all day long there. It doesn't matter that they think it's Hoover doing it to them, they are genuinely frightened. Stop scaring the old folks!!!  :argh:

The blowback from that would be huge. 0bama might as well close up the re-election office at that point, cuz the commercial writes itself:
"President Obama had the ability to pay our Soldiers and Marines.  The money was authorized.  The money was available.  Instead, he decided to pay ____ and go golfing."

The American people love their troops, even if the Dems like to use them as political hostages or cannon fodder.

Here's a thought for you DUmmies, even if the repigs caved on tax increases, they would not take effect until 2013. So if 0bama were to say "Ok,No new taxes now" and agree to the terms to raise the debt ceiling, all 0bama would have to do is run on raising taxes in 2012, and since you goons think the majority of the people want that, he and the dems will win in a landslide, right? After the dems take all 3 houses by storm in 2013, they can raise taxes to their heart's desire. So either way in 2013 taxes will be raised, so wouldn't it be smart for 0bama to cave for now?

Even though I feel they ripped off the old Bell Telephone logo this rendition of their logo is spot on. :rotf:

Let see Obie ripped off Pepsi  the dems rip off Bell.  Not very original now are they.

What Happened to the $2.6 Trillion Social Security Trust Fund?
Here’s how President Barack Obama answered CBS’s Scott Pelley’s question about whether he could guarantee that Social Security checks would go out on August 3, the day after the government is supposed to reach its debt limit: “I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven’t resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it.”

And Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner echoed the president on CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday implying that if a budget deal isn’t reached by August 2, seniors might not get their Social Security checks.

Well, either Obama and Geithner are lying to us now, or they and all defenders of the Social Security status quo have been lying to us for decades. It must be one or the other.

It's invested in treasury securities. You need to understand how our government's cashflow works.

Sounds like the classic: "Were you lying to me then or now?" from my vantage point.

37. Obama's big idea was a FICA tax holiday.
This was part of the bill (backroom deal) that extended the Bush tax cuts. As if this tiny addition to a pay check would stimulate the economy. So, if allowing the Bush tax cuts to continue didn't undermine social security and medicare enough Obama decided to also cut social security's dedicated funding mechanism. Why would a Democratic president propose anything that would UNDERMINE social security? Oh, if that wasn't enough, now Obama has proposed another additional cut in social security's funding, this time on the employer side. This is just beyond belief!

Why is our Democratic president the enemy of social security?

And Obie better get out in front of this $ball in a hurry 'cause the dump is starting to wise up about a "FICA Tax Holiday" being hazardous to the "Trust Fund" health.  A more cynical man might even compare this action to the Gingridge comment "Let it wither on the vine".
