If Sarah Palin Gets in the Race, She Will be the Candidate to Beat (http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_060811/content/01125106.member.html)
RUSH: I wanted to develop something a little further today that I didn't have time to get into in great detail yesterday, and it's about Palin. As you know I have no brief for Palin, I've not chosen anybody, I've not anointed anybody, I've not endorsed anybody, and I'm not prepared to today; that's not the point of this. But I can't let this go by, all of these things that are happening, this continued effort to literally destroy her. I mean I understand the Democrats wanting to do it, but there are people on our side engaging in this. That's unseemly.
Now, for all of the stated Republican opposition to Sarah Palin, if she gets in the race, and you heard it here first, and don't doubt me, she is going to end up being the one to beat. Now, I'm not gonna mention any names here because it's not the point, but I have spoken to a number of people in the Republican presidential field. >>>
I make it a point to bring up Palin because I want to see how they react >>> I've not talked to all of them (the Republican Presidential candidates), of course, but I've not heard one of them just lambaste her like you see other Republicans doing. If she does decide to get in the race, and I have no idea about that, she will be the one to beat.
Now, there's a reason McCain picked her. He picked her ostensibly against the wishes of the party at large. He picked her because he needed somebody fresh and energetic to restart his floundering campaign, and it worked. And anybody who's willing to be honest will tell you that the crowds that were drawn during the McCain campaign stops were due to Sarah Palin. And the energy that she brought to that campaign was unmistakable, and the attachment that Republican voters had to her was also unmistakable. Now, we've gone through all the reasons Republicans don't want her in the race, the insiders versus the outsiders, the Beltway elites and all that, the consultants, GOP operatives. They don't want her in the race not because they fear she will lose. >>> No. They don't want her in the race not because they fear that she can't beat Obama. They don't want her in the race because they are afraid she can beat others in the Republican field for the nomination, leaving them on the outside looking in.
Look at it this way. With as much piling on of Sarah Palin as there has been on our side, if she gets in and if she wins, look at all of the people on our side who are by virtue of the way they've treated her up 'til now out of it. They will have no role.
But I do know she's not stupid, and I do know that she is highly competitive, and I do know that she's willing to go to the throat, and I do know that she keeps score. Because everybody in politics does. And she's certainly in politics. So all of this, "Rush, you can't win, I mean 41% of Republican voters..." I have never in my life put it to you this way. I have never in my life seen the Democrat Party and its media operatives spend so much time destroying somebody who didn't have a prayer anyway. This woman is so stupid, she's got the entire press corps chasing her bus all up and down the East Coast >>>

================================
Washington insiders have botched up the fed govt and the US economy. It will take a firm leader to bring us back from the brink. I wouldn't be surprised if whatever she does, it was the first time it's done that way. Don't expect her to jump through all the hoops that republicans have been reflexively jumping through for the old media. She will do what she does when she wants to, where she wants to and how she wants to. Because she won't fit the template, the competition and the media won't know how to play her. If she runs and wins, it will be indicative that God's grace still rests with America. If Obama wins, we had all better have our lives in order with the Lord because all hell is gonna break loose in this country.

Are you kidding? People on the left are PRAYING for Palin to get the nomination because she will assure a victory for Obama.

Since the Dims won't STFU about her..................tell me she's not a threat.
I will. They wont shut up about her because shes a sideshow. The difference between a sideshow and a threat is the difference between a roman candle and a firearm.
A roman candle could do some damage, sure. But thats not what its for, and thats not why people buy them. They buy them because they make pretty sparks and are fun to look at.
Id take a .44 over a roman candle any day.
Palin says silly thigns at times and gets media attention. So does Charlie Sheen.

Im sorry, thats simply not true. This isnt a matter of defending that asshole its a matter of reality. Obama is still a political powerhouse even after his failure of a term. And unless the Republicans pull their heads out of their asses and soon hes probably going to win again unfortunatly.
Palin simply isnt popular. She has a very die hard fanbase but outside of that base she really alienates people, especially moderates(which are key in the election). I think Ronald Reagen Jr. put it best:

"Sarah Palin is a soap opera, basically," Ron Reagan Jr. told The Associated Press on Friday. "She's doing mostly what she does to make money and keep her name in the news."
"She is not a serious candidate for president and never has been," Reagan added.

I am trying to understand why a self-described RINO would excerpt ANYTHING from that POS Ron Reagan Jr. Baffling actually.
I don't think the far left is praying for Sarah to run. Her base presently is far more committed to her than Obama's entire base (look no further than the constant whining he isn't progressive enough from lunatic sites such as Daily Kos, Huffington, DU and the like).
Obama has some problems. I certainly wouldn't consider him a powerhouse presently.
I think this is anyone's race right now. I am not even close to deciding who will get my vote in the primaries. I honestly don't see Palin running, but if she does she will play to win. Only a damn fool would count her out in an Obama v. Palin ticket.

Barry's power lies in the Office of the Presidency and in the black community. He himself holds very little sway anymore, particularly in the minds of those who are dealing with the aftereffects of his policies -- economic and otherwise.
I've always liked Palin, but I think the conservative elite class will continue to downplay her ability to communicate with the people and the libs, of course, will continue to find every opportunity to bash her.
For this election, I believe her calling is to be the undeclared candidate as long as possible. That'll keep 'em guessing and keep the pressure and presence on her, particularly for the inevitable badmouthing.
-
I excerpted it because I agree with him.
Even if Obama has critics on the left that doesnt mean they wont vote for him. Also,

Ronnie is a far-left lunatic. So agreeing with a lunatic helps you how exactly? Is she turns off moderates then you surely could have found a moderate to quote easily I would imagine.
She isn't running for president. I think she is far more effective doing what she is doing now -- raising money and supporting candidates.

No but linking to a study done by an independent polling group showing that shes less popular than Sheen is. Shes not a political threat.
We'll see. If she gets in and is the nominee my guess is she'll win in a landslide. Heck, anyone but a RINO will. People just see Rom-Newt-Hunt as 0bama light and the public is sick to death of elites...whether they be in politics, corporations, banks, etc...The gift she has (and it's one the more electric true conservatives have going for them) is a kind of enthusiasm that's infectious. Like Reagan, she has the ability to draw the squishy middle to her without sacrificing her principles.
She's the ONLY one out there talking about American exceptionalism and greatness. Right now the country is hungry for someone to remind us why we're great. We've had years of our own president badmouthing our country while driving us into a ditch. The nation feels pretty beaten down...this is malaise on steroids. Everyone else is highlighting this country's problems and getting us "back" to what we were. Sarah Palin is reminding us that we already ARE that "shining city on a hill". It's our "leaders" and their cronies who've forgotten (or simply don't care). While she's doing this, she isn't afraid to talk about what needs to change and what her solutions are.
The public was duped into thinking 0bama was fresh and new but he turned out to be an insider that practices a crony capitalism worse than anything we've seen before. Palin's emails now coming out show her to be open, independent, and hardworking. She's been vetted more than any other candidate in our history. And she's an outsider not beholden to any corporation, oil company, mortgage lender, etc. She has a reputation for destroying the "good old boys" club. And it'll be a contest between someone whose practically had an anal exam by the press and one that to this day we know very little about.
And the campaign will give her the opportunity to let the people get to know her without the media filter or RINO handlers. That's why her negatives are so high. But she has a knack for going right to the people. At one time I thought Michelle Bachmann could do the same until she hired Ed Rollins, who's just another elite establishment type. Ironically he also has ties to candidates like Romney. I kind of feel like Bachmann is making a run at being Mitts VP. If she really was a Tea Party candidate she wouldn't have hired a mudslinging elite to manage her campaign.
I'm NOT saying Palin's Reagan, but the circumstances are very similar. You have the press and the left constantly trying to dig up dirt on her. As an aside, she hasn't once backed down or apologized for her beliefs. You have the media, left, and GOP party hacks all trying to destroy her. If it was just the media hounding her you could say this was a sideshow but ALL of those groups wouldn't be trying to destroy someone they think can't get elected. That would be a ridiculous use of their time which could be spent defining how they differ from the "serious" candidates.
Unlike when Reagan was running, however, this time the country's in worse shape. Palin and Cain are the only ones who can truly claim to be outsiders. Anyone who is endorsed by the establishment politicians is doomed. Rush is right: the left will always tell you who our candidate should be by who they're trying the hardest to destroy.

How exactly will people get to know her without the media filter?
The only people who will listen to her will be the people who already do and everyone else will get what she says second hand through the media. Itll be a constant uphill battle for her trying to shrug off her previous gaffs and making a desperate attempt to appeal to moderates.
PRO TIP: Talking about how you and your supporters are REAL AMERICANSTM(And thus implying that all other voters are not real Americans) does not win moderate votes. And Her "Aww Shucks" "You Betcha" attitude is endearing only to her fanbase.

What makes you think she isn't a conservative?
-
What makes you think she isn't a conservative?
By her personal and political life.
Political: An advocate for alternative energies - wind, solar, and ethanol.
Her support of a "no fly zone" over Libya.
Personal: She could not control her young teenage daughter, and allowed her to make bad choices.
Palin has sacrificed, for her own(hopeful) political gain, the greatest gift God can give to a parent.
That gift is above any political or personal aspirations - or should be.

Back tracking on ethanol is a sign that Palin does not understand the issue, but is, as so many other politicians, sticking a finger to the wind.
No conviction, except that which may propel her to the forefront.
No Fly Zone: This and the Arab Spring is about uniting arabs against Israel. We have no purpose there, other than to unite the muslim brotherhood
in Egypt, Yemen, etc. It is a move against Israel, and Palin has promoted it. On record.

The overwhelming voters here do not want that two face flip flopping RINO. Do you understand that? Plus your dissing on other candidates is not going to change any minds.
How many Presidential elections have you voted in Junior cause I don't think you have a clue of what you are talking about. Just about any Repub will beat Obama because of the lousy economy, high unemployment, Obamacare, high debt, immigration, etc. provided they make economic issues the cornerstone of their administration.

Prove with a link to her exact quote where she said she supported the no fly zone. I remember when she was being questioned about it and spoke about the conditions under which it would be a good idea. The only time you can remotely decide she was "for" the no fly zone was when she said if 0bama was going to make the decision to do it he needed to be decisive. That's not the same as being for it. She also has talked extensively about how careful we have to be with this "Arab Spring". And she's so "anti-Israel" that she was welcomed with open arms by the nation.
Considering Palin's chairmanship of the oil commission and her being governor of the biggest oil producing state in the union and as her emails now prove, her fearlessness in taking them on, that just makes you sound stupid. You can say a lot of things about her, but her knowledge of energy policy isn't one of them. She has said she would support an "all of the above" approach. I don't see anything wrong with that as long as the government doesn't fund them. She has called for no subsidies for any kind of energy which pretty much leaves it up to the private sector.

6 elections.
And no, not any republican will beat Obama. The democrats said the same thing about Bush in 2004, and look where that got them.

Heh. I haven't been to DU since the George W Bush's first term, when I was banned for calling them a pack of nancies. I lasted a grand total of 20 minutes.

6 elections.
And no, not any republican will beat Obama. The democrats said the same thing about Bush in 2004, and look where that got them.
You need to stop believing your own hype and look at the numbers, or it won't matter what or who you want.
The reality is that Romney, the RINO, will not get the nomination. A Tea Party Candidate will get it. Numbers do not mean squat at this juncture because the Repub field is not settled. More surprises like Gov Perry may get into the race. He would squash Romney. Just keep on dreaming cause your boy will be sucking hind titty.

Healthcare alone will most likely deal Mitt Romney's loss in the primaries. The vast majority of people do not want it and it is well known that Obamacare is the demon-spawn of Romneycare.

He's not "my boy". As I said, I'd hold my nose and vote for him.
Show me an alternative that isn't a pack of damaged goods and I'll be more than happy to change my mind...But I don't see any Reagans coming down the pike anytime soon.

Reagan had baggage before and after he left office. So, looking for the perfect candidate is just a pipe dream. Several Tea Party candidates have Reganite qualities.
FYI, I will not vote for Romney. After voting for a RINO like McCain, it left me with a bad taste. I won't make that mistake again.

Show me a Republican candidate that won't be "damaged goods" when the press gets through. Isn't going to happen. John McCain spent his entire career playing nice with the press and they beat him down. Sarah Palin's the only person I know who gives it back to them AND makes them chase their own tail. I think this election is going to surprise a lot of people, especially "party leaders" who think they know how it's gonna go. This is NOT going to be an election where conventional wisdom will matter one iota.

Alternative energy isn't conservative?
I am surprised to see Palin support it, being from Alaska and all, but everyone can see that relying on the middle east for our energy needs is a dead end. And Drill baby Drill will only work until our own reserves run out. We need alternatives and we need them now, and that's not a liberal position (or a conservative one either) just one that makes sense. (which, of course, means it is unpopular with politicians of any variety)

Alternative energy like PV solar and wind power are a pipe dream
The US has known and proven deposits of fossil fuels to last a couple hundred years - including oil shale and other previously uneconomical-to-recover resources. Suck the arab oil-ticks dry while establishing a domestic production to meet demand. Once the arabs are out of oil - they become irrelevant.
The best "alternative" as I see it is nuclear power.
-
Back tracking on ethanol is a sign that Palin does not understand the issue, but is, as so many other politicians, sticking a finger to the wind.
No conviction, except that which may propel her to the forefront.
She made the ethanol comments, while in Iowa, while campaining -- it was McCain's position at the time. She has since that time come out against ANY subsidies, to include ethanol.
No Fly Zone: This and the Arab Spring is about uniting arabs against Israel. We have no purpose there, other than to unite the muslim brotherhood
in Egypt, Yemen, etc. It is a move against Israel, and Palin has promoted it. On record.
Oh my goodness, how insightful of you. The muslim brotherhood needed to be united against Israel? I had no idea they were so disjointed on the topic.
I also had no idea Palin was antisemitic. I am learning so much here.

Yeah that is why you won't vote for Romney. BS for lying, and of course your continuing quest to be the best hysterical Nancy that ever was - that alone deserves constant recognition.

Candidate season is just getting into full swing. You can't make any predictions this early in the game.
-
Im sorry, thats simply not true.
I think Ronald Reagen Jr. put it best:
http://www.examiner.com/us-headlines-in-national/sarah-palin-is-no-ronald-reagan-says-reagan-s-son-ron-jr
If bullshit were electricity, then obama MIGHT be a powerhouse. Until such time, he's basically a skid mark in search of a pair of BVDs.

Your Romney derangement syndrome is on par with the left's rabid obsession with Sarah Palin. You troll for articles and threads about him to post your hysterics in. The funny part about it is there is a lot of issues to be concerned about Romney over that are based in fact. You just can't seem to locate them.
Yet here you are claiming, meh I didn't like voting for McCain so I can't do it again. It's pure comedy.
We will have to put you on suicide watch if he gets the nomination. It will be better to watch than anything on prime time television.

You can suck up to your boy Romney but I will not. I would vote for Paul before I would vote for a liar and two faced POS like Romney. On several occasions, I have stated that my number issue is health care. I am on Medicare and Romneycare and Obamacare will f... it up. Do you understand, dingbat? I can weather a depression, high gas prices or any other screw ups these DC morons throw at me. I can not weather rationed care. So, your attempt at humor has just been flushed down the shittier.

L-I-A-R. Because you are such a proficient liar you can spot one from a mile away in a political candidate? (pssst, they all lie by the way).
You are such a total tool. This is going to be a very enjoyable political season.

Reagan had baggage before and after he left office. So, looking for the perfect candidate is just a pipe dream. Several Tea Party candidates have Reganite qualities.
Reagan never got his ass owned by some cheap flake of a journalist like Katie Couric. Reagan never made a nation-wide spectacle of himself (after Bedtime for Bonzo, anyway), especially not by showing up at a biker rally, in the bitch seat.
Reagan got half the damn democrats to vote for him. Palin won't get half of the republicans. Bachmann is polling below Ron Paul.
You may have noticed that the Tea Party rallies consist of about 30 people these days. It's done. And who can blame the people that left? The republican house hasn't exactly been a ball of fire, has it? And their presidential candidates are just plain silly.

The "biker rally" to which you refer......if you'd done your homework......was a "Rolling Thunder" gathering. Rolling Thunder is a group of primarily Vietnam military veterans,
Our TOS/TOU expressly prohibits the disparagement of the military......in any manner.

Hydro works just fine in the pacific northwest. Wind can work fine in certain places, solar in others. There isn't one solution, although nuclear is pretty close, but we should be exploring alternatives.
I'd say the first step is to stop subsidizing petroleum. if it can't compete without subsidies it's no more viable than anything else.

Could you explain a bit more clearly?
I'm a Ron Paul supporter and a Libertarian Objectivist, I won't deny it. I know I'm not right in the middle of mainstream conservativism but I also remember people specifically telling Hella Jeff that Conservatives of all varieties are welcome here when he started bashing on "Neo-Cons" I'm not here to cause trouble, I've been doing my best to be respectful even when i disagree with people. That makes no sense. The Tea Party type citizen traditionally is one who doesn't show up to rallies at all. But Obama has been so bad that they were left without a choice. The participants and those who agree with the foundations of the Tea party as still there and as strong as they ever were. They just don't find showing up to rallies to be required to keep the fire lit.
That's a common misconception with the left; that because conservatives don't do protests, etc... that they aren't engaged. I never went to a single Tea party event, but I'm as engaged, if not more engaged, that any lib who shows up at every event to which they can drag their unbathed butt.

On topic, I have to conclude that either liberals really have the GOP's best interests in heart with all of their warnings not to nominate Sarah Palin OR that they're scared to death that we will.

Yes....among other things. You might want to do some reading on the history of this board. It was formed initially to escape the ravages of Paul supporters in the prior presidential election cycle. We don't tolerate much (if any) Ron Paul bullcrap here.
If you are one of them.....pack your bags, as life will be most uncomfortable for you, however brief your stay.

Welcome back......ya' know, deep down the political analyst in me keeps saying that she won't run.......I think she's enjoying making some serious money, and playing the "kingmaker" for the conservatives in the Republican party. She has the uncanny ability to suck all the air out of the room with the press........damn near every day. She's playing them like a Stradivarius.
If I were making over a million a year between speaking engagements and News Corp, plus the added benefit of constantly poking the MSM in the eye, after how they've treated her, I wouldn't want the grief. I think she's just having a good time.
