Title: My next trip will be to Devil's Pond @ Victoria Waterfall, who's coming?

If you're ever in Zimbabwe, don't miss the chance to take a swim in The Devil's Pool, a small lagoon, enclosed by rocks, on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls. Set on Livingstone Island, at a height of 103 meters, Devil's Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth.

Looks kind of cool to me.

In Wisconsin, we have Devil's Lake but it isn't as impressive but it's pretty impressive.  There are some Indian mounds there that are supposed to mark the equinoxes.

There is another video of people doing flips from the rocks on the perimeter of that lagoon... into the lagoon. I can't believe they are protected from the currents.

Here's the video....

You know how people spend energy on fantasy baseball teams and such?  That never really appealed to me but I was thinking as I was outside in my new lounging lawn chair this afternoon, what if we started like a fantasy travel club?

I propose each member of this club gets $100,000 to spend on each fantasy vacation.  Each could spend more, of course, but that would have to come from personal fantasy funds but the club will provide $100,000 fantasy dollars for each adventure.

Each member of the club could could put to use their own specialty, like maybe Schade finds the most exotic and exciting destinations.  Vonne seems good on coming up with the basic budget.  I think I could be a pretty good trouble shooter and could swiftly attend to any challenges as they arise.

Members would be free to stay where Vonne, for example, recommended, or find their own accommodations.  Perhaps they prefer a private bungalow.  But none exists, well, in most parts of the world, it might be possible to construct a private bungalow for a fraction of the $100,000.

We could use an expert photoshopper for pictures.  I could probably do a hacked off job, but who couldn't?

Anyway, it sounds more fun to me than a fantasy sports team.  There aren't any way to use stats that I am aware of but members could keep a journal of the preparations for the trip, the trip, the destination, preparing to leave, and the journey home.

If you will trust the writers of Wikipedia....

"A famous feature is a naturally formed pool known as the Devil's Swimming Pool, near the edge of the falls, accessed via Livingstone Island. When the river flow is at a safe level, usually during the months of September and December, people can swim as close as possible to the edge of the falls within the pool without continuing over the edge and falling into the gorge; this is possible due to a natural rock wall just below the water and at the very edge of the falls that stops their progress despite the current.[13]"

Well then...I shall be there with my trusty bottle of Absolut and a few cigars :-) Oh! and my water wings :-) LETS ROCK SCHADE! :rocker2:
Water wings for a grown man...is that like an intertube around each arm? Enquiring minds.

Acrophobia -- ain't gonna happen.

Oh please! You're being silly.  :hyper:
In a "I want to live" sort of way.

I am surprised that I have no takers as of yet.
Thats awesome! count me in :cheersmate:

I should have known you would be game. Stay tuned!
Was that a shot? :therock: :-) I wonder how many have actually went over the edge. Also,I still can't figure out why the current isn't stronger at the edge? Is it really deep in that part?

A shot? Hmmmmm.....  :naughty:
