'Wisconsin' is your fault.
I've heard this several times on progressive talk radio this morning:
"This is what happens when progressives (or Democrats) stay home and don't vote."
(Repuglicans and Teabaggers winning big in 2010.)
I'm not falling for that line and I hope most progressives and Democrats don't either.
That kind of thinking shows that the establishment Democratic leadership still has disdain for its own progressive base.
Here is the truth, in my opinion: This is what happens when Democrats are given the White House and majorities in Congress -- and then govern like weenies and constantly blame their very own base supporters for all their problems.
The empowering position to take -- and the only position that will make sure the "shellacking" of 2010 doesn't happen again -- is to insist that Democrats stand-up and fight for progressive values instead of compromising and 'horse trading' on the issues important to us.
Listen, elected Democrats, if you don't support the progressive principles upon which you were elected, don't turn around and blame us voters when we don't find enough enthusiasm to get to the polls to re-elect you.

2. Which Democratic Tactics would you choose? Madison's or DC's?
This week democracy is showing some stirring views of vitality in Madison.
As far as I can tell, not nearly so much along that power axis that runs 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue though to the Capitol.
Oh come on. Obama has his "Organizing for Against America" helping to stir the pot, along with his SEIU thugs.

4. uh, Wisconsinites had Feingold as their Senator. They had choices.

7. Great Point!
I'm so glad you posted as sometimes, I do fall for the "we stayed home" ploy, even though I didn't.
The democrats had every opportunity to get things done in the 2 years they held it all. Granted, there was a lot of opposition from the rethugs, but he who holds the pen rules. Had Obama simply steam rolled his way to whatever he wanted like Bush did, we wouldn't be where we are today.
That said, What does Obama want?
The ruination of the US. Next question?

10. The first 2 years would have been a success if nothing had been accomplished!

....If O had spent them simply standing firm on the solutions that work and help millions.
....If he had used his TV time to reveal the Radical lies that multiply in the Captive Media.
With 2 years of refuting the Radical Right's lies - they are so FREAKIN' EASY to refute with the barest of facts - we would be a country in the midst of a full recovery from mass delusion.
If only he had fought.............
and taught........
The man has bravery issues.
Even with the MSM trying to deny the truth coming from the right, people still found the truth before November, 2010.

8. But it is true.
Many people did stay home. And others voted for repubs to "teach the Democrats a lesson" for not being progressive enough.
I see it here on DU when people criticize President Obama. Of course we can criticize Obama and his administration. We need to hold them accountable. But we need to support them now and in 2010 as well.
I think we need to learn from this. We need to GOTV in every election.
Man, I hope these DUmmies stick with thinking that the DemonRats lost because they weren't far enough left.

"I am not going to vote for you if you don't give me everything I want for free.", Dummies.
"Who let the air out of my ball?"....also a DUmmie.

Another fine example illustrating the DUmmies are completely clueless!!!
They still think their policies are backed by the majority of a free people! I can't believe I used "free" and "DUmmies", in context, within' the same post! Will wonders never cease!

That's true, only to the extent that "democracy" means "mob rule".

This is what they're telling themselves? :lmao: So absurd, it's insane! :mental:

That primitive, I would bet, is . . . not a primitive. O-)

That's sure as hell what they expect to work in this instance. I have a feeling the people will prevail, if all the polls are any indication!

Actually, the problems that exist in WI are the result of not enough conservatives voting for conservatives and voting to keep Leftists out of office.
We're working on fixing that.

Well, I think the people have realized the DimWits aren't the answer. Took 'em long enough. They have pretty well shut their eyes for a whole generation! It may be too late to fix it!

Tell me about it. Waaay too many Leftist "progressives" around here. Very discouraging for the much-vaunted Midwest.

This is what is the result of all those draft dodging asshats during the Vietnam war and later did by staying in college and getting degrees in Education. They think they can get what ever they want by holding the state or country hostage. Good luck with that at least in some of the states the Governers will fire the teachers before the state goes under.

I sure as hell hope so! The only thing we can look forward to, is more intelligent children! Won't that just kick their ass!
They have spent damn near 2 generations indoctrinating our children. I have a real fear for those that had "progressive" parents and teachers. Just what the hell did they learn?

What year does DUmmie murielm99 think this is?
These are the "smartest and brightest" among us, folks, and some of them TEACH (and I use that word loosly) our children. Be very afraid!

You know what's going to be interesting for my state? It's not a Republican Governor that'll be doing the cutting. Andrew Cuomo is a Dem. The chief proponent of the teachers' unions is Sheldon Silver--also a Dem. Fratricide at its' best!

I think as the year goes on, the situation's going to change.
Right now, it's Republican governors trying to spare the hard-pressed taxpayers, but states with Dem governors have even more-serious fiscal problems, and those are going to start coming to a head soon.
I'm especially watching California and Illinois.
It will be fraticide, Dem against Dem.
And fun to watch (excepting for those living in those states).

It will be interesting to see how it plays out, when Patterson took over for Spitzer he was saying the same things Cuomo is now.
Essentially there is no way within the law for the state to fund its current structure short of a wealth conviscation that would leave the state devoid of business.
However as you are aware neighbor this state rivals the mafia when it comes to budget chicanery so am predicting nothing.

Illinois already caved to the unions and raised income and corporate taxes 66%, and now the governor is talking about more borrowing.

That's true of course, but in the DUmmies' own strange universe, people vote for fiscal conservatives because liberals don't give them enough free stuff.

My wife works for the minority party in the Assembly (yes, that's the Republicans). If there's "marches" scheduled for a day upcoming, she's all of a sudden going to be taken ill. There's no way, normal or effin', that I will allow her to go to work then.

Wait, it's "Winsconsin", isn't it? In an earlier thread, know-it-all nadin said she had a blog on "Winsconsin", but for some reason it wasn't getting much traffic. I wonder why that is? The pudgy prophet reminds me of Rain Man.

Letter to the US Media
Look boys, I know why revolts and rumors of such are all the rage in Tahrir square. I get it why it matters and why you flew your people into the middle of it. I get it why that flu matters, and now it is spreading to Benghazi and Menama matters. I get it why it is so damn exciting when the little people get that freedom bug and march in Tehran... yes I am talking to you Williams and Cooper. I know that is how you get your brass tacks, and your prices. But if you really need it, I will donate my American Airline Miles and get you on a plane to Winsconsin. You'd think that Winsconsin is on Red Mars, and too far.
Now there have been esceptiosn to this pattern, Thanks Ed, thanks Rachel, I am sure if Keith was still on the air he'd cover it too... but this is to the rest of you. You see, when your sycophants scream about liberal media and we gotta rely on the twitter to get news... because Madison is on Red Mars, by Olympus Mons, well that liberal media monicker loses all it's strength or even simulacrum of reality.
I'm not sure what she is trying to say other than her idea of news reporters aren't covering her idea of news. She did spell Madison right this time.
-
Wonder what motivated the roly-poly know-it-all to google "Mars". Probably looking up candy.

Remember back in the 90s when Mario engineered the sale of Attica to another state agency and a state court ruled it was legal because since it was a state agency it wasn`t officially the state that borrowed the money which by law would have required a public vote.
Irresponsible Debt. The sale of Attica prison is a case study in the irresponsible use of debt. The State borrowed $200 million to sell the prison to itself in 1990 and used the funds for operating expenses. Since 1990, the State has paid $242 million in debt service on the Attica debt, but due to refinancings, it still owes over $300 million in principal and interest. So the total cost of providing $200 million in one-shot budget relief in 1990 will be at least $565 million, assuming the debt is not refinanced again.

That sort of thing.

I know Wisconsin was a very liberal state for a long time. It was home to Progressive Era in the late 19th century to early 20th century. This was way before states like California became liberal. Even California was conservative up to the 1960s.
-
Even California was conservative up to the 1960s.
Then DUmmies found out California would not enforce drug laws, so they came by the millions, and stayed. I really believe the reason California is such a cesspool is entirely due to drugs.

The great thing about Wisconsin is this is just the very beginning. For the past 30 years, Joe the private workforce taxpayer, in general, paid little attention to what the public unions - teachers and government employees, were up to. Now in these hard times, their Cadillac ZERO DEDUCTIBLE & ZERO CO-PAY healthcare plans and golden parachute tax payer funded pensions are being exposed, and debated on the national stage. Joe pays $20.00 to see a doctor, $150.00 for his kid's new eye wear, and $500.00+ for a root canal, let alone a thousand bucks for a crown. Joe only has a 401K that he contributes 6% of his salary to while his employer matches 3%. And, he is paying taxes through the nose to fund public employee health plans that have ZERO FRACKING DEDUCTIBLE and ZERO co-pays. New eye wear for the family? Cost ya nothing, the private sector worker picks up the tab. Dr.'s visit and prescriptions? Cost you ZERO! The private sector worker pays for all of it. Pension? After 20 years of employment, the private sector taxpayer hands you a bank account of $1.5 million freaking dollars THAT YOU CONTRIBUTED zero to. That is above and beyond your 401K and Social Security. After 20 of employment on the public dole you "retire" and your $121 THOUSAND a year salary jumps to $287 THOUSAND a year. Then you hire on back to your old job as a "consultant" at $270.00 / hour working 20 a week to keep yourself from being 'bored'.
All paid for by the over taxed private sector workers that can barely keep food on the table and shoes on their kid's feet.
Like I said, the rancid truth of the unions is coming to light to majority of Americans that up until 6 months ago, had zero clue.
By the massive leftist protests and 0bama's big Marxist mouth, the mainstream are finally seeing you GREEDY leftist pukes for what you really are. You are digging the pit and we are running the 'dozer we will use to bury you in that pit.
Face it lefty/commie Marxist/red-diaper-doper-baby/parasites, this *IS* the beginning of YOUR end!

Sure hope you're right, Allo. Recollect, however, that 70% of Arizonans approved of our governor's signing SB1070 into law and what does the Department of (In)Justice under Eric Holder do but sue the state? Can a lawsuit against the state of WI be far behind, provided of course that the recalcitrant lawbreaking Dim Senators are rounded up and FORCED to do their jobs?
Seems like there's quite a bit of Democrat politicians' reluctance to actually do their jobs, let alone listen to the will of the people. :hammer:
